  1. Hi all, Had my Rapid since April 15 - shes a 14 plate 1.6TDI SE with 17" alloys and the rooflight... Great car, bit grunty but its a 1.6 TDI so what we expected - we have taken her from 9000 to 16000 miles with no issues and averaging 61mpg on the daily commute to work which is 30 miles round trip. So yesterday we get the letter from Skoda which says our car is affected ... I understand from VW that the 1.6 engines will require physically work not just a computer mod! this is not good news!... Has anyone else had this letter... This for me will affect residual value certainly, possibly the tax rate and there needs to be some sort of compensation for this... I understand class actions are being considered.... Thoughts?!
  2. Same here with the Octy VRS - would love it but with new company, money tight it is something i can't justify (for the moment!) the fabia boot will get a pram in and should get a golf club set in. The rapid would swallow it all remember and the deals look pretty good on them. But the resale is always an issue. p.s The space back is easy to drive and size doesn't matter esp as the fabia and space back are thin cars.
  3. The Fabia estate is a long car and feels bigger (IMO) and more cumbersome and the rapid however it is a fantastic sized vehicle for putting all a families 'stuff' in without breaking the bank. With the SEL Estate 1.2 TSI at 12,741 with 0% interest thats a pretty good deal for space etc. (13k with Sat Nav)
  4. Looking at a Fabia which has a 330 litre boot which will get a pram etc in - They are 13k for the 1.2TSI in SEL trim and you can spec the Amundsen Sat Nav for just 300. The toledo is a good option - there is a 64 spec for 11,995 which i am sure could be haggled down to under 11k...
  5. So three months and 2000 miles later after the purchase of a Spaceback 1.6TDI SE 14 Plate with 10k on the clock we are delighted with the ride, the economy and general build quality. I am now leaving my job to become self employer which means handing back the keys to my lease car. With most of my available cash going to set up the company but needing a car that will of 15,000 miles a year minimum i am thinking about a TSI Rapid Hatchback to complete the set. The good thing about the Skoda range at the moment is the 0% and the fact my outlay up front wont be massive. I then have a car which should so 3-4 years up to 80k very cheaply while the business is established. With a space back and no children we don't strictly need a rapid size car and could opt for a Fabia/Polo size but for the cost it seems the Rapid is still the best value for money. Broadspeed have a new Sport for 12.6k and an SEL at 13k. An octavia with similar spec is going to be north of 18k although will hold its value better and is probably a slightly better car. I see that the new 1.0TSI Golf Bluemotion can be had for 16.6k which is temptingg although 6.7% apr puts me off. What are peoples opinion on the options on the table? A kid on the way in a year or so, surveying gear and football gear space needed in the boot. Then if the Rapid is the right choice i am confused by the specification options on the ICE - I would want a DAB and Sat Nav which are both extras - £100 for the DAB, £340 for the Amundsen Sat Nav then there are further options for Smartlink, Smartgate and Bolero Head Unit). Which of these combinations do i need to get the DAB and Sat Nav? £440 total i assume? are the smart link and smart gate worth it (and i assume their specification clashes with the above?) Thanks in Advance
  6. Good solid engine and car - a lot of kit for the cash!
  7. Which Ibiza did you go for Camel? The 1.2tsi 105 in a 2011 3 door i had (when 1.2tsi's were pretty new) was an awesome drive!
  8. Hi all, does anyone know the most reliable place to get the set of cargo nets for a space back? Thanks Ben
  9. So we have now had the Spaceback since Saturday with the mrs driving it more than me. Motorpoint were good to deal with - the car requires a service as the display warned so they are having it in tomorrow for a full service and said if there was anything in the 5 days since having it which needed sorting they would (there isnt). wifes colleagues have all commented on how good it looks and like a smarter Audi A3. The quality of the finish inside is good and the panoramic roof and 17inch wheels make it look that bit sportier. drove 60 miles to football on the motorway on saturday evening - on the way being tame and keeping it at 70 - average mpg 64.3. On the way home opened her up and was showing 58.9 mpg. Very impressive.
  10. Cheers both - The one we are looking at is red ... I do like the DAB for listening to 5Live without the crackle but its £200 to put the RCD310 DAB from the VW if needed!....
  11. So i think after lots of looking (and questions on here!) i am going to buy one of the Motorpoint ex Thrify cars tomorrow. This is for a first family car with enough space for pram and golf clubs! For 10k and a decent trade in on our little Picanto i think a 14 plate, VAG diesel with panoramic sunroof and SE spec is pretty good!... Certainly nothing else around at that kind of value... Compromises... Well i ideally wanted a DAB radio and Sat Nav which I am not going to have in the car but I may well look at retrofitting an Columbus or similar going forward! Now the only choice is Red or White!............

  13. On Fabia estates at the moment? After a 1.2TSI SEL.... Loads of people have bought on here i will be insterested to know where the best deal can be had be it broker, main dealer etc?
  14. the best i have seen an SEL estate go for at the moment is 13.89k against a list 16.1 which is a 2.2 saving...
