  1. Ha! Fooled you there. This is a 'later' 2004 car and I swapped the slatted grill for the smooth one which I much prefer.
  2. Nice to meet Chris yesterday and have the privilege of some of Carl's detailing products being used on our Audi A2. I'm thoroughly impressed with the level of attention and expertise that went into the detail and a lovely gesture that it was all for charity. I did try to offer some payment for this but Chris wasn't entertaining that! I will post up some pictures if it's okay to show an Audi A2 on a Skoda forum and not considered marketing. Again - thanks a million and a lovely gesture for charity behind the opportunity for my car to get some TLC
  3. agreed. I'd have chosen the 4x4 if it had been available when I ordered in April but on identical spec it would have been a shade below 31k. Still incredibly good value if you consider the comparable A4 avant will be well over 40 grand. VRS 4x4 for me in 3 years time (maybe)
  4. Thanks a mill. I will be changing my decision to request a retro fit and just have the cost reimbursed. SD card is the way to go for my needs and wants.
  5. if that's correct thank you for clarifying. I will go the USB route methinks as I'm really not keen on the cable being visible. Not a very integrated option in my humble view. Appreciate the information. Cheers.
  6. I don't know where I expected it to be. I searched online , on this forum and asked on freedom tech page without success. I guess I assumed rather than expected it to be in the glove compartment as per other VAG products. Are you saying the AMI simply replaces the USB on the base of the dash?
  7. I genuinely hadn't thought about that option. Does this store album artwork and listing information? How many albums can you get on a 32GB card?Edit: found the answer to my own question: 32GB is 8000 songs so completely fine for my ~650 CD collection. Thanks for directing a luddite on the right path.
  8. Hi folks. When I ordered our Octavia in April I specified the AMI interface for iPod etc but whilst fortunate enough to get a 2016 MY build car the iPod connection was not fitted when I picked up the car. During delivery the driver called the supplying dealer who informed me they hadn't ordered the option in error and would arrange to have it retro fitted. I accepted this and annotated and signed the delivery paperwork to confirm the conversation. A month later nothing happened so I chased it up. This time the dealer ( Simpsons in Preston) said this was an ordering issue overlapping the model year and the AMI was not fitted to the 2016 car. They proposed to refund the option cost of 150 and the rental adjusted accordingly. I've refused this as I don't like using the iPod with the USB and having the cable visible. I'm delighted with the car otherwise and the functionality of the iPod with the Amundsen is excellent. But cables on front of the dash. No thanks. What is the alternative or updated platform for using iPod with the 2016 MY? I've asked the leasing company to go back to Simpson and request they follow through on their promise to fit the AMI connection to the car so I'll wait and see what happens. Any similar experience or comments on this. I'm really surprised on the new model that you no longer have an option for an integrated iPod connection.
  9. Great thread. Wish I'd kept a tally of miles driven like FlyingGecko. Since passing my test in 1988: 1979 BL Mini 850. Lime Green ( was my next door neighbour car. 10. Hi Widdy. Yes I remember you from Audi driver. I very seriously pondered the Yeti however she who must be obeyed dubbed it a 'popemobile'. Very harsh judgement methinks but as I value a happy marriage it was struck off the list.
  11. Had the VRS a couple of weeks now and overall I'm incredibly pleased with it. Spec as follows and also happy with the selection: MY16 VRS Combi TDI manual. Candy white, heated leather with red detail, black styling pack, canton sound, colour maxidot, power tailgate, ipod and blue tooth interface. Heated screen washers. Reversible load liner. Covered 1200 miles on a mixed bag of driving (none of it for economy) so it's currently showing an average of 45.6 on the computer. I know this will improve. The fuel tank is smaller than I'm used to. Compared to my 2012 Audi Q5 which the VRS replaced I'd say the quality is comparable. The Amundsen touch screen navigation is so much more advanced and intuitive than the Audi MMI system. I'm loving the interior space . For its class this car is just cavernous! Thd blue tooth is also much superior to the Q5 ( sorry for the comparisons but this is my yardstick). Has some toys I wasn't aware of like the adaptive xenon in Sport mode ( where it shall always live during my ownership) and lane assist. I'm not sure if this is linked to the 2016 MY? Only get used to niggles are minor. It's the first non 4x4 I've had in a long time so I'm getting used to the wheels losing traction a little. I find the glove compartment a bit cheap and plastic and not in keeping with the rest of the interior build quality. I'd have liked a 12v socket inside the armrest cubby as per the Audi but I'll get one fitted. There's a slight weep of oil on one of my power tailgate struts so having read on here that it's a known issue I will keep an eye on that. I find the absence of gas struts on the bonnet most odd for a car of this quality but I've bought the retrofit set from Superskoda so no biggie. Overall I'm absolutely delighted with the car. I've tried uploading photos but they're too big. Will need to change my phone settings and try again. Not that you don't all know what they look like!
