  1. Wow! its been a while... but if I recall correctly the Boot lighter/accessory socket has a fuse under the bonnet whereas the "inside" sockets have a fuse under the panel by the side of the fron facia. You need to open the drivers door and ease the end off that panel to get to it. it was a bit of a pain because you cannot see how it is attached. Hope this helps.
  2. I have noticed something strange. I have a new Samsung S8 replacing a Moto G. I also have a Windows Lumia 930 (which is the best phone ever, although I know I am in a minority). When the S8 is connected to the car (Superb 2010 /Columbus), and I get a text, and I read it in the car, the text is then not available/stored in the phone itself. I did not have this very annoying "feature" with either the Moto G or the Lumia. Do I need to set something on the phone? Is it just me? Any info gratefully recieved.
  3. I think what you need is "Android Auto" app. if its available is UK/Europe...
  4. Does it now? I had never noticed that, and had the impression that I always disabled the childrens (rear) windows... I will have to have a play... when I have got this damned cover off !!!
  5. Well its taken a long long time, but the dealer finally relented and took a serious look at this about 10 days before the warranty was up... had the car for 7 of those days, and finally "admitted" (or at least could find no other explanation) that it was down to a firmware upgrade about 4 weeks before I first posted here. They tried (I believe) 4 other firmware versions but none fixed it, so eventually they got the OK from Skoda Warranty to replace the whole Columbus unit ! Works fine now ;-) thepuss
  6. OK.. feeling like a right twit now... Trying to remove the fusebox cover on driver's side dash end... door open, key (instead of screwdriver) in slot at bottom like in the picture in the manual, and... The whole panel sort of flexes, but I can't find anything for the key/screwdriver to actually engage with, and I really dont want to force and break anything. How the hell does this cover come off? Spent best part of 90mins looking for images etc on google and found nothing helpful ! Please tell me how this cover is held on and how to really get it off !!! Thanks and Happy Christmas to all ! ThePuss
  7. Thanks Lee... think it is the Passenger side though... Drivers side has a AirBag warning on it... and picture in my manual shows LHD model. Happy Christmas!
  8. If there is an "inside" fuse box as well that makes sense... as boot accessory socket is on a separate fuse. The one I'm after (I hope!) is F35 which is 25A... ThePuss
  9. Ok, am I being a bit thick here? I don't think it is that clear in the manual, but... Are there 2 fuse boxes? one by passenger side of the dash, AND the one under the bonnet I already checked? (I'm not going out to the car in this rain!!!) ThePuss
  10. My front and backseat cigarette lighter sockets don;t work "all of a sudden"... I suspect "little hands" but have no proof of any fiddling. (I don't actually have cigarette lighters, just the plastic cover plugs, and MP3/phone charger accessories. However, the socket in the boot still works fine. As far as I can see from the manual the fuse would have to be a 50A under the bonnet ( F29 "Accessory Equipment" ) ... but I could be wrong. Anyway this fuse is fine. Is there any in-line fuse on the circuit ? And, is this something I can fix (assuming it doesn't blow repeatedly), or does it need a dealer visit? ThePuss.
  11. Thanks! Seems out of the way from dust, etc. so perhaps its nothing to do with the mic.
  12. Can someone tell me where the mics are on a Superb II please (10 plate)? Recently the unit will not accept/understand voice-nav commands ... it keeps saying "Pardon" on commands that worked perfectly well before, and people have been saying the quality of voice on phone calls has deteriorated. Any other ideas? Thanks
  13. Does anyone happen to know if I need to use a "Skoda" v8 maps disk, or would any VAG one work? I have a mate getting a new VW soon and am hoping I could swipe his disk for an hour or two....
  14. Rockhopper, I guess if I'd thought about it, I should have realised that as I have already investigated the unit under the seat. Thanks for the clarification! Puss
  15. (Originally posted in a Yeti forum...) Has anyone had any success with this (that is if they experienced the problem anyway...) ? I have an HTC Desire, rooted, running Cyanogen Mod7, and using the Android RSAP utility on a Superb II 2010 Columbus. The connects fine and works fine, but not all my contacts will sync to the car. I use Google for managing my contacts anyway, and will continue to do so... but I have a sneaky feeling that there is something in the Google contacts area that is causing certain records not to copy across. I have tried to see if anything distinguishes these "not copied" records from others, but: * i have records with addresses that sync and don't sync * i have records with phone numbers with spaces and "+" signs that sync and don't sync * i have records with nicknames that sync and don't sync * i have records with email address(es) that sync and don't sync * etc so I can't see anything obviously different from one to another. I'm going to try a full delete, re-pair/connect of the phone, and new upload to see if that at least gets me to a state where I have all my current contacts, even if it won't add new ones. But I'd be grateful for any experiences Puss.
  16. Not quite sure I follow... are you saying the whole unit starts up and plays something from the SD card? Or are you saying you might be driving along, listening the the radio, and suddenly the SD card is selected and starts playing? On the second issue, I have experienced this in my Superb II with a Columbus unit. My not terribly technical diagnostics so far are as follows: 1) Media playing function will switch to the SD card if it is detected as present even though another source is selected. Unless it was originally detected at "start up" and something else was chosen, thus overriding it. 2) In cold weather, the SD card "mechanism/electronics" are a bit dodgy, and will not detect an inserted card until the unit has warmed up a bit. Here in the south east, I have been experiencing this since early November. I listen mainly from the SD card for choice, but it will not work first thing in the morning, so I have switched to Radio 4, started driving, and then after about 10 mins the SD suddenly kicks in... annoying- but as it "always" happens now (in this colder weather), at least I know the cause (well... not technically.) 3) I did try taking out the SD card at night and bringing it inside, in case it was the card itself that was "cold". I tried other cards, but it seems to be the unit reader mechanism rather than the media. So what did I do...? Well, (1) it prompted me to make better use of the harddisk unit (present in the Columbus), so I copied the SD card content there instead, and use that a lot more now. But obviously, if the SD card is still present, then it overrides the HDD after 10 or so mins, so (2) the SD card is always in the slot, but ejected, now. I use it every so often, and for loading the HDD, but never at the start of a journey. Does his help explain? I realise it doesn't help much with the Bolero unit as there is no HDD I believe, but maybe you will have some luck questioning the dealer on this basis. Problem I have had, is by the time I reach the dealer the damned thing works! Puss.
  17. OK I suppose apologies are due to those of you who have pointed out that this is a Yeti forum, but I mentioned I have a Superb. My issue however is with the phone syncing (or not) contacts with the Columbus unit, which is available for the Yeti, and so basically I was just piggybacking onto a post thread that looked to have similar issues as my own, with hope of finding a solution. (incidentally, I also read Vw and audi forums for the same reason). Thanks to those of you who have replied with suggestions, but I haven't had any luck yet, other than by deleting and recreating an entry. Short term solution might be to export, delete, and recreate all my contacts... I might give that a try in due course. Puss.

  19. Since I got my Superb II in May11, my HTC Desire has connected, but never really been reliable. For a while it seemed to work fine if the WiFi was switched off before I got in the car (ie: before it was detected for pairing), but I wouldn't say even then I had "full functionality". Anyway, as the phone was out of warranty anyway, I decided to take the plunge and "root" it, and I installed the Cyanogen Mod v7 ROM, and then tried the Android rSAP trial for BT connectivity, and I have to say it works perfectly for me! I have been playing with it for a week using the trial copy downloaded from Android Market, which maintains a connection for 10mins so that you can test, and as a result of much satisfaction, I have purchased the full rSAP app for about £7.59 I think. It works like a dream, cheaper than parrots or new BT modules, and my HTC Desire now connects using the "Premium Bluetooth" functionality, uploads the phonebook, and is generally at least as good as my (work) Nokia 6300 in the car. The rooting and rebuilding instructions are very clear, and everything worked first time for me, with no problems: Using these instructions... Thepuss
  20. Thanks all! I spoke to my local dealer anyway, and to be honest they had the best price I've see for easily and readily available 16" steels, so I'm going for those anyway. You are all right to point out the increasing unavailability of tyres though... Not sure what brand I'll finally end up with, but I'm going to have to wait a few more days (week+?) anyway unless I want the top end in terms of price range (£160+). Anyway, thanks for all your help, and safe driving! Puss
  21. It's a thought... have you had a similar problem? What would you recommend? A squirt of compressed air? Puss
  22. With the weather getting colder, I have noticed that my Columbus does not like reading from the SD card until (let's say) it has "warmed up". If I eject and reinsert, I either get no response, or the SD card error message. After about 10 mins though, it accepts the card. I haven't had any problems at all over the summer, and the card seems fine (its a 32Gb Class 10 "7DayShop.com" special.) Anyone had similar experiences? Puss
  23. My local dealer. Very friendly and helpful. Only problem I've had with service dept was them booking my Octavia in for a DSG oil change, and not having enough of the oil in stock! Still, I went back and bought my Superb from here.
  24. I am a total numpty about these things, but I do know one thing, and that's that I *hate* driving in snow and will do anything I can to make the experience safer. For the first time, I am considering Winter Tyres. Last year I was sliding all over the place in my Octavia L&K Estate 2.0TDI DSG (2007)... low-profile tyres are not a good idea, but that's what it came with. Now, having sworn I wouldn't get them again, I find myself (due to an unmissable deal!) with... yep! low-profile tyres on my 2010 Superb Elegance Estate TDI CR170 4x4. They're Bridgestone Turanzas on 18" luna alloy rims. From reading here, and other places, I believe it would be worthwhile going down to a 16" rim on either steel or alloy (and steels are a shocking price for a bit of bent metal!). I would really welcome some advice and recommendations. I'll go and see my local dealer anyway, but there must be other options (tyremen, mytyres, etc). I'm not looking to do this all myself (eg: rims from ebay, etc), I'd rather pay for the whole deal, knowing that I've got the right thing... the alternative being going into hibernation for the winter months ;-) Obviously, I realise I should have done this about 2 months ago when prices were lower, but then I should have bought that winning EuroMillions ticket too, shouldn't I? Thanks! Puss
  25. My Superb II was in the dealer today for a Product Recall that I'd been putting off since the beginning of June, as I was told it was to check Parcel Shelf fittings. Well, after a reminder in the form of a First Class "Signed For" letter, I decided I'd better book the appointment, and at the end of its checks today I was told it was nothing to do with the parcel shelf, where had I got that idea from...? (duh, YOU phoned me!) It turns out its some sort of Engine Management or Control software upgrade and (to quote the service guy)... "We've done half of it, and will call you in a couple of weeks". What's this all about? Does anyone know? I'm not especially worried, more mystified about a "half-done software upgrade"! Puss
