  2. Came apart quite well ,there was enough wire one the centre console to just unbolt it and lay it half in the drivers foot well ,and I left the steering wheel and drives airbag in ,most of the screws where the same so dident have to wory about where they went . Air con had to be disconnected but doesn't work anyways so no gas to wory about

  4. Well £130 was without vat so ended up £164.98 .started at 8 and finished at 4:30 what a sod of a job But now got a nice hot heater Look at the mayhem Jim
  5. The shaft that gos straight down into the box , has it got any movement side to side ,it should turn and go in and out but not rock .if so its probably like mine was play in shifter bearing .parts are avalible but its a tricky job Jim
  6. Priced it today £30-40 from local motor factor and £130 ish from tps , I'm mot doing the bloody job again so going to get a gen Skoda one having to beg and borrow to get it tho . Bloody cheep tow car ain't to cheep now .
  7. Had a good look today and got red drips coming out the lower air vents (to warm your feet area) so matrix I think . What type of job I it anyone ?
  8. Was a sod to get out . Once unbolted it was still stuck in with the original sealant ,I ended up levering it out with two screwdrivers . Just make sure the box in in neutral Jim
  9. Cool Il try that tomorrow . The wife said the air smelled sweet aswell when on hot air .
  10. I had a similar problem but lost 5 completely and 1-2 on and off . Ended up taking the linkage housing out the top of the gear box and replacing the bearings in the housing parts are available from tps I did make a thread on it I think Jim http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/367056-gear-box-selection-problem/?fromsearch=1 there you go
  11. Got a new pollen filter in and got damptraps in each door pocket .it was damp after a big valet after I got it on the road but would of expected it to of dried out by now (left doors and boot open every hot day we had and parked in sun at work) AC doesn't work needs a regas I think
  12. Cheep tow cars struck again . After a clear mot nowsoon as I put he's on the windscreen blower it fogs up. Dose this sound like heater matrix to you? Haven't seen any damp but will have a good look tomorrow Jim
  13. Like it mate like the idea of leaveing one door on still at the back .
  14. Do it mate looks good in your pic .just remember if it looks right it is right ,are you going to just pannel in the windows or put a full flat side in? Do it Jim
  15. Make sure its in neutral . You have to remove battery, air box ,battery tray and I found I had to take the starter out to get in to gently lever the shift mech out the box (its got some good sealant on it ) try to just lift it straight up once its free . Best way I found was to remove the seal in the top and drill two small holes in the lip so I could use a small drift to drive the case out . I first tryed cutting it then useing a die grinder to thin it but its strong stuff ,the new one just pressed straight in .I also drained the oil and wile the mech was out put the new oil in the large hole its much easier . follow the gear linkage set up on youtube ( its on briskoda somewhere) then when your done let car idle for a couple of mins to get the oil right round the box before you drive off Jim
  16. Yep that's the bits . Done some driving today and alls still well Jim
  17. Job done . Once I got the remnants of the bearing out of the houseing the new one pressed straight in along with the new seal and rubber ring . Changed gear oil wile I was on . And I've got a silky smooth change again , I need a beer Jim
  18. Thanks matey Il give him a look Cheers jim
  19. Where do you get the emergency service spring kit matey , sounds like a good option for a towing car Thanks Jim
  20. Bits ordered from tps £9.27 so will see how the rebuild works out .
  21. Bought for £370 for caravan and family duty ,spent 5 months ish on sorn fixing immobiliser fault ,electric window faults plus a bust winder mech , central locking fault ,engine fault (ended being tappit jack) broken front, spring cv boot, ball joint ,trackrod end boot, rear rattle ,sticking rear brakes, loose exhaust and front discs and pads a bloody good clean probably the same if not more than the buying price again spent lost hair and graying of the rest . Back back off the road with a fingers crossed just a nackard shift linkage bearing and not the box . .so owned for roughly 8 month on the road maby 3 months but what a car when its right, its rough round the edges but prity mechanically sound The joys of motoring Jim
  22. That's the offending bit and second pic you can just see bits of whatever collapsed inside Jim
