I need an auto for the odd time the boss needs it (actually its more when I need her car (bigger) she takes mine to work). I don't find it that bad tbh, although I do often knock it down a cog manually, which is very easy to do as the gear stick 'lives' in the central position so its just an up or down push. OP, have you looked into getting cruise control retrofitted, or an aftermarket one? With the aftermarket one you wont get the extra dash display though. I asked the dealer 4 years ago ref our auto Toyota, I was told £450. Not long before we got rid of it I found out all it needed was a £30 switch and a £5 cable.

I'm lucky i bought (well actually got it thown in) the £99 3 years servicing on mine after being stung before in a toyota, ~£200 for the first service then the second service £330 (check spark plugs-not replace!!), god knows how much the 4 year service would have cost where they replaced the plugs, having always had older cars before and doing it myself it came as a massive shock, oil/filter change was about £25, and i went round greasing all the doors etc, that i know some dealers definitly dont, my FIL had a 2 year old dealer serviced ford that he couldnt open the bonnet due to lack of lubrication. Even a more major service would only cost £60 and an hour or two, when you take into account the time booking it in, driving to the dealership getting a lift home, picking the car up doing paperwork etc, its probably more than doing it yourself. However you need to be able to prove you've had it serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions to keep the warrantee and help future resale, so you're kinda stuck. Oh and i'd definitely pay the dealer rather than kwik fit, for an extra £13 its a no brainer.

I find the same, its impossible to read with sunglasses on.

We had a toyota a few years ago i think the first service was in the £200's, and the second about £350, at that wasnt even changing the spark plugs, just clean/inspect (i bet they didnt bother), they also changed the battery in the keyfob, I asked about the other key and they said "oh don't worry they last years and years", didn't stop them billing me £10 for it mind, we px'ed it with the third service and MOT being due and didn't buy another Toyota. I learnt from that, the citigo i went for the £99 3 years servicing option, and sugested it would be nice if they threw that in (which they did), and out main car a similar thing but for £300. Oh the rules changed a bit a few years ago and they have to honour the warrantee so long as you've had it serviced in accordance with their procedures/parts etc, I did look around for the Toyota, but the savings I was quoted weren't that much.

I've had a few older cars that needed a regas (halfords diy job) and worked well, as has been said though, if its nice and cold then i wouldnt bother, brake fluid though needs to be checked every year or two (they take a sample and test it (there is a tester that boils the sample to work out how much water is in it.)), maybe worth getting it tested to see if it needs doing before you get it changed.

Same thing as I had, if it happens again I've found turning it off then on again fixes it, maybe not first time but it will eventually.

Does your cig lighter socket work??, and your rear wash wipe?, i had this a while ago, it was intermittent and took it into the dealer who couldnt fault it, i'd taken a video of it playing up so they had it in again and changed a relay (one that turns off the blower/rear wash and cig lighter while you're starting), seemed ok for a few weeks then started again, i took it into the dealer whilst it had failed to show them, but it started working again without turning the engine off/on (usual fix) by playing with the stalks. With nothing being changed its been ok for a few months now. Random question, do you have cruise control?

I get the same message to read text, but it just puts it on the screen with the option to close or call, no voice at all. I'll have to look at the options menu again.

I've obviously missed something, I get texts pop up on the screen and have the option to call back or something else, but it doesn't read them to me.

I tend to have the PID on the fuel computer screen, it encourages me to try harder!!

Mine runs under the mat on the passenger side then runs up the A pillar (behind plastic and then tucked into the headlining.

I remember watching that, i cant remember the extra distance they did, but i remember being supprised at how much more ot went. I dont have it on the citigo, but i do on our main car, after nearly rolling back a couple of times into cars its now switched off. Being an auto with electronic handbrake with the switch in an arkward position i've had it a couple of times where i've stopped at a roundabout on a hill, the SS has cut the engine, without me noticing, off the brake to hit the gas when a gap appears to find myself rolling backwards. It also doesnt work with a cold engine, or with the A/C on max cold.

No worries, i quite like tinkering, having two new cars now normally stops me being able to play and i'm m'bike-less now as well so , so i quite enjoyed myself!!​

Result, dry today so managed to have a look, removed part of the inner arch and managed to clip it back in, it looked like its a bumper off job to replace it though.

​I had a pheasant run into the road in front of me today with me doing about 70 with a volvo 2" from my rear bumper unfortunatly for him he didnt look both ways, unfortunatly for me he broke the lower grill. With a very quick google search they seem quite cheap (£30), although i'm planning on asking the dealer how much they are. Has anybody changed this? any tips?, i havent had chance to look at it today as it was hoofing it down for most of the day.
