  1. Guilty. But been guilty since 18.......3 scoobies, pulsar. saab 900 classic aero, golf gti mark 2, bora tdi 206 bhp, sierra xr 4x4 cosworth head, golf 4 tdi mapped x3....a disease indeed....early, mid and hopefully end of life crisis
  2. BMW badging ....skoda style ...........Start at craze at my age ???? .............50 .................... ( 2001 1.8t 4x4 elegance : mtm 190 map, custom turbo, Audi TT N75, better dump valve and pipework, sleeper....as good as scoobies I've had and more discreet / economic to run...less chavy !! ) All hail Skoda
  3. Tasty list of cars there from langers2k. I'm clearly out of date with the 200 bhp goal ! Good point about the horses bolted from the stable over the years and likely issues....no pain no gain as they say though. Nice alternative goal from skinnyman. Like the Mark 1 / saxo idea...................on a sort of related point check this out :
  4. Just had a map done on my newly purchased 2001 octy 4x4 1.8T ( 148 up to 188 bhp .....bjf tuning Clydebank........good progressive boost / torque improvement across rev range ). Just bought it for winter second car as I live in the sticks and ithas good winter tyres on it too, but couldn't help myself and went for a bit more power too. Total cost £1,300 including the car at £1000. This got me thinking ( will get the point ...I promise......... ) . Has anyone managed to get 200 bhp for a total £1k...any car....moded or not ?.........myself and my mates used to challenge each other to get 200bhp for £2k total....sad but true Comments ? ( smokey pd206 tag from my old bora tdi 206bhp, but cost £5k total back in 2009 though....diid the usual 150 pd cam follower melting thing....that was the end of that fun )
  5. Helped my mate source the above car to turn it into a sleeper. All going well, but rear suspension arms, rear beam / rods / hub carriers etc all heavily rusted....ok for MOT but worth sorting given the car will be lowered, bushed, mapped, EGR delete with coilovers ASAP... 17" steelies and wheel trims of course ! Looking to find out what other cars have the same kit to buy used parts ( full rear end for all suspension excluding shocks / springs ) ......guessing mark IV golf / fabia / leon ....any ideas folks ?? Cheers.
  6. 10/10 sir. top advice. seems that every high powered diesel you look at has some sort of issue...but the CR 170 looks worth looking into as suggested...or mapping the 140 as you say..........I'm starting to think the pd 170 might be a bit of a risk, even if injectors / loom / dfp replaced. tahnks agin very mush for you advice and the link. All the best.
  7. Cheers for that....and no recall for dpf either I believe ! and not cheap if needing replaced....same for most makes / models with dpf's I'm told though.
  8. Cheers for that. Much appreciated.Assuming recall confirmed as done, and not done properly do you think I would notice anything on test drive ?
  9. Alright folks....first post here for me....normally on scottshvag site for my bora 150 tdi ( smokey pd206 !! ).Going to look at an Octavia PD VRS...not the "CR" ( KW08 TYP )....Milton Keynes area......Any one know if there is anything I should be looking out for for this model, or even this actual car ( silver )?.....only 33k on the clock...black aftermarket multi spoke 18's - £7,900 trade. Cheers in anticipation of any haeds up nightmares to watch out for...other than usual potentail dpf issue.
