  1. Hi wino, just put the key in the ignition...all lights went out apart from the battery light.
  2. Drove the car ( 1.9 tdi estate ) the other day and had no power steering!...the light was showing on the dash. did a few very scary miles to my destination, when i got back in to drive home, light was out and steering back to normal. The light has come on briefly in the passed before but i did not loose the power steering. As the car is only worth £700 at best, i am not sure about the best course of action......reading about steering angle sensor this, pump that, steering rack the other....i like the car a lot so in a bit of a scratchy head situation!
  3. I looked at the part number on the boxes and it stated the springs were for the standard 1.9 diesel.
  4. I have just had my front coil springs replaced with kyb k-flex springs(broken spring)...now the car sits lower and seems quite bouncy!....apart from the genuine Skoda ones which would you suggest...car is fabia 1.9tdi estate.
  5. Thanx folks, just wondering, does the fill hole also serve as the gearbox oil level...ie, when the oil starts to spill out your at correct level?
  6. I have a mark one fabia tdi pd100 estate with 102k miles on the clock. question is, do i replace the gearbox oil?.......if so, which oil should i use? do i stick with skoda oil, or is there better. has anybody done this, and can advice me on the subject. cheers
  7. Having just bought a 2006 fabia estate, judging by the foisty smell i think the age old leaking door carrier has reared its ugly head..... question....could i drill more drain holes?...would this help,....water draining out quicker! failing this, what type of sealent should i use to sort problem when resealing the door carrier. cheers folks
  8. the engine on my fabia pd 80 was on the noisy side!....i put this down to the chain driven counterweight, sold car as not my cup of tea! gone back to trusty 1900 pd.
  9. thanks estate man, just to throw another spanner in the works, as stated, my previous car was a polo sport 1.9 pd and I found that car just as economical as the 1.4 pd, which leads me to think there could be an issue with my particular car I will look into it!
  10. Thanks for the reply's folks....may look in to a remap to improve drivability !!.....think I was spoilt with polo pd 100 sport, I wish now I had hung on for a 100 pd model fabia...ah well.
  11. cheers folks....forgot to mention, car has 118k on clock with full skoda history, only had the car two months(car been like this since i bought it!) i have not driven another so can't compare.
  12. I have a 08 1.4 pd80 fabia, whilst the mid range....between 2-3,500 rpm is pretty good low down is very laggy, with gentle pressure of accelerator ( poor )...i find this frustrating is this my car?....any ideas folks?
  13. Hi folks, I have a 2008 skoda fabia 1.4 tdi, I have noticed the engine, in particular the oil pump chain? seems to me quite vocal ! the car has 117k miles on the clock with a full skoda history, cam belt done at 80k.....I have heard other cars that seem quite noisy. is this normal, or can I expect the bottom of my engine to drop out ? this is a one owner car and condition wise, has been well looked after.
  14. Thanks guys,....something tells me my ownership will be fairly short lived.... I have to say though, car is solid, and well built!
  15. Help please,.....I currently own a 2008 pauper spec fabia 1, I am wondering, is it possible to retrofit the dashboard glove box covers, which my car has not got!...sob...it looks to me, a lower box could fit, but the upper dash is one moulded piece and could prove difficult......has anybody done this mod.
