  1. All done but still sinking pedal. Pumps up with the engine off but as soon as the servo kicks in it sinks under pressure and have hardly any brakes !! Bled the system 3 times. Fortunately I limped it to my local garage who are good as gold so hopefully get it sorted thanks all
  2. Okay cheers. Can the cylinder be bled on the car or does it have to be taken off? Thanks
  3. Hi all I have replaced my front calipers on my octy mk1 vrs. Unfortunately the brake fluid had all leaked out from the brake lines when I got back to the garage. I have topped up the reservoir and used a vacuum pump to bleed it through apart from the rear nearside as someone before has nakered the bolt on the bleed nipple The fluid runs through but my brake pedal when pressed hits the floor with little resistance. Any ideas? Does the abs pump need reseting by vagcom ? Thanks all
  4. Hi all My bracket on my passenger side suspension strut which holds the brake pad warning wire has snapped on my mk1 octy vrs. Does anyone have a car they are breaking I could get one. Or does anyone know where I can get one apart from skoda? Thanks
  5. Thanks for the ideas guys I will be tackling it this weekend so see how I get on
  6. Thanks for the offers guys although I have decided to buy some new oem shocks and springs as well as some new bushes. Hopefully give me some decent handling back as my shocks were completely gone !
  7. Spax would be good although I want to keep mine oem so will pass thanks plus if I spend much more on my car I'm likely to be divorced before I'm married ☺ !! thanks for the heads up though
  8. Thanks for the replies guys nice to know that boge are alright. How many miles has the car in Devon covered? Only after the front suspension for now. I work in Devon so could be handy Cheers ☺
  9. Hi all I'm looking to replace my front struts and springs on my octy vrs mk1. I'm struggling to find any decent oem replacements. Gsf parts have some but don't know anything about the brands either amtex or boge does anyone know what they are like. I am struggling to find any kyb which I know are okay. Anyone used any of the above or could point me in the right direction I would be grateful Cheers all ☺
  10. Thanks for that. After a s##t load of Wd40 a hammer and a blunt chisel in 30 seconds it was out with no plastic left behind I was shocked and disappointed was looking forward to burning something ha ha ☺
  11. Hi All i am in the process of renewing my suspension on my octy vrs mk1 when I noticed that the wheel speed, abs sensor on the rear of the hub of the front right wheel is broken. The lead connector is fine but the sensor needs replacing. Does anyone know how these come off? I have taken the hexagonal nut off but it looks like its a pain to come off. Does it screw or push out and will I need to remove the hub to do it? Thanks for your help
  12. Thanks guys. I think the connector is a banjo style onto the caliper which would be a pain to plug. I think I will cover the reservoir and shove some rubber pipe through and see what happens . Don't suppose as I was looking to bleed the system anyway is there any damage that could be caused to the system if I drain the system and then refill and bleed with my vacuum pump ? Hear Cheers all sorts of stories ! Thanks all
  13. Hi all I'm looking to refurbish the calipers on my mk1 vrs. I'm starting with the front and I think the brake lines are braided and don't or can't clamp them off. Anyone know if there is somewhere to clamp or any tricks to block the end with. I will be putting new fluid through but don't ideally want to drain the whole system and end up with air everywhere ! Any advice I would appreciate thanks guys
  14. Yeah I only have a jack and wheelbrace. Need to find some bits and bobs then !
