  1. Just dawned on me that over the years I have owned more Skodas than any other make. 1. Skoda estellle 120LS (1985 C ) converted to 5 speed lowered front springs straight thru double cherry bomb exhaust and refreshed with a comfy Renault 18 pair of front seats and a few quids worth of decent sound deadening. ci 1992 -4 2. Superb Mk 1 TDI 2007 (07) abs superb car with high miles bought as a distress cheapy purchase after sombody rearended my Subaru Outback kept it for 2 years and part exed for no 3 3 Yeti CR 110 TDI 2012 (62) Great car roomy & practical replaced interior with a leather one which was on Ebay. sold as we opted for a motability wagon for my son and had an old Merc 190e as my play thing. 4 Octavia 1.4 DSG SEL wagon 2015 (65) replacing the old merc with a modern daily driver purchased as a cat S rebuilt ( it was in a light sandwich and tow bar fitted with no issues) 2022 - Glad to be back.
  2. Had the car back a week now with new instrument cluster that had to be made by manufacturer and coded to the VIN and that took a week. Ah well doubled the miles on the courtesy fabia gratis, as the dealer never called to say they were bringing mine back. Thankfully full tab picked up by the dealer. ludicrous that a small failure of 2 LEDs costs a grand or so. What was wrong with bulbs?
  3. Thanks to all your replies, I have only just bought the car a Skoda approved used. Took it to nearest dealer who were very good about it checked it out and prescribed a new instrument cluster, as the dial behind light up, its the needles that don't. SUK however say that the supplying dealer need to replace at their expense as it was a pre-existing issue that had not been picked up so am in the throws of sorting that out with the suppliers. when this is all clarified will reveal the name of the dealers involved. semi GRRR but I didn't notice till driving in the dark. Fuel isn't too much of a problem as the dong and yellow pump come on with 100miles left, but an overheat at night would not be good! I don't know whether this car would have the light sensor as it does not have Auto on the light switch( as my loan octy with 160miles on the clock did) The dealer that looked at car said that the needles have surface mounted LEDs on them. If you start up at night without lights on the needles will(or should ) illuminate, the scales light when you turn the light switch to side or dipped/main.
  4. Should have said, its a '62 plate SE spec.
  5. Looked in the daytime, speedo and rev counter needles illuminated, temp amd fuel not. at night, all backlighting lit up and dimmable with lights on, but temp and fuel needles still not lit. Any Ideas? The speedo and revs were lit up. Wherabouts is the internal sensor you refer to Llanigraham?
  6. Well fianally said goodbye to the old superb and now proud owner of a 110 2wd. enjoying the experience so far. Just wondered if any one has experience of fuel and temp guage neeles nopt being illuminated? rest of display is fine. Didn't honestly notice till drove at night. Thanks
  7. I had the same problem, a goodly squirt of electrical contact cleaniund=g spray (£2.52 from toolsatation) and problem sorted. No more Czech relay torture.
  8. Hi thanks for the advice in the Superb mk 1 forum today. incessant clicking from flasher can. I was all set to take dash apart, when I was struck down by common sense and perused the google bible and found you guys. £2.51 at toolstation for some electrical contact cleaner, in through the aperture on steering column shroud, and jobs a good un. Silence, except when I am indicating. Superb was a distress purchase, after some twerp used my Subaru outback Weasel as a brake. Its a better car, in all ways except boot space, may address that some day and go for a mk 11 need a big car to keep a distance between driver and my autistic son, so superb fits the bill. Superb is the second skoda I have owned, back in late '80s I was the proud owner of an Estelle 120ls, lowered with twin straight through cherry bombs. Great fun to turn off ignition and pump throttle and reignite, with 4ft flames out the arse. happy days, peeing off the beetle boys in Newquay with something noisier roomier and that actually handled quite well.
