  1. I have checked through the relays behind the dashboard facia and I have found relay 18 is drawing over 0.2A. As expected it is responsible for the wiper and the rear window heater BUT NOT the fuel filler cap. So I can definitely get this relay replaced but the reading is still between 0.37A-0.39A. I think I can look at the brake lights but where do I start?
  2. I have unplugged the alternator and there is no drop in the amp reading. So I guess there is nothing to do with the rectifier or the alternator. I'm checking the relays but how can it tell if it's failed? Do I use the multimeter also?
  3. HI all, I hope I'm not the only person who has experienced this. My car (Octavia 1.9TDI 110PS) battery becomes flat after 4 days. The battery is healthy as it recharges well but the drainage is at 0.63amps on my multimeter. I have used the trial and error method of pulling out individual fuses in turn to see if there are drop in readings. Whilst the reading does drop on some fuses the amount accumulate just over 0.1 of an amp. That is nowhere near the 0.3amps maximum as people say. Does anyone have any idea what to do before I give up and the let the garage do it? Is there something I have missed. Also I noticed there are several electric features remain operational even after the key is out of the ignition with the car locked. The wind screen wiper, fuel filler cap, rear window heater and even the brakes lights come on if I press them. Obviously I don't leave them on but does it draw the battery quite a lot simply having those features on standby? Any help and or advice would be appreciated.
  4. This massive hauler is my very first Skoda after years of lusting for one. This is a 1.9 TDI 110 non-PD with the elegance trim. I have always wanted one ever since I have been one in it as a Taxi. I also believe this car has been a taxi as well based on the mileage clocked up, at over 180k miles. However this car has been well looked after as the near full serivce history shows that it has been serivced every 10k miles at a Skoda Dealer. This car wasn't easy to get to. I had to rent a car to get to it. But it was all worth it. However this car does not come without faults. The previous owner has been doing a fair few of DIY stuff and has been exchanging trims off it to replace faulty ones on his VW Passat. And he hasn't been doing regular maintenance during his ownership. My aim being here in this forum is to share as much problem about this car as possible in hopes to find people, who has come across the same faults, to give me guidance on how to repair them. The faults are as follows; (Primarily electrical faults) Powertrain and suspension: 1)Turbo Cutting off - It switches to SDI mode when it wishes to. 2)Sometimes the engine would cut power at about 2500rpm when flooring at 4th gear (when I enter the motorway) 3)The engine would cut power when down shifting from 4th to 3rd under braking(I rev match when downshifting). 4)Tracking rod: I'll put more information on that soon but does it effect the wheel geometry? Body and Trim: 1) Driver door alignment. It's off but I find no faults on the mounting. 2) Driver Window switch: Sometimes can't operate the front passenger window (window switch on the other side works fine), Slamming the driver door shut again might help but not all the time. 3) The rear/near side door opening mechanism has problem with a stretched cable. I cannot open from the inside. The cable is functioning when I pull it. But when put back to the handle it doesn't stretch it far enough to operate the mechanism. 4) Rear Wiper Motor is not working but people remind me it could be to do with just a fuse. It looks fine so I am looking at the wiring/earth. 5) Near side fog light doesn't work. The bulb is fine (I swapped bulbs from different sides) It's just the circuit problem but I don't exactly what's wrong with it. 6) Boot Light: Does not go off until I lock the vehicle (ie it remains on when driving as well). It does go off if I slam it at a particular force (mainly gentle, I don't have to be aggressive with it, phew). If you are able to help here that would be great. Otherwise I would post them separately later on as I tackle them individually. I will also post pictures or videos to illustrate them.
