  1. Did you get an itemised quote? It may work out less expensive if you source your own furniture, fittings, flooring and tiles etc to give you an idea of costs to have a plumber in I had my shower cubicle replaced by insurance which consisted of the tray wetwall on 3 sides , and a shower door , I bought the shower myself and the final cost came to around £1200. I sourced the rest of the fixtures and fittings myself including wetwall and flooring which I fitted myself and the total came to around £1500
  2. Despite not having had the EA189 emissions fix on my 2.0 tdi Octavia , my car went into limp mode yesterday and came up with a P0403 exhaust gas recirculation "A' control circuit fault so can't even claim through the TBM. Contacted my local Skoda service centre who have been really good by adhering to my wishes not to have the "ix" applied, they did wonder if I could get a goodwill gesture but with my car being over 5 years old but they thought it highly unlikely. They are going to going to provide diagnostics free of charge next week. My car has only done 51000 miles and has full Skoda service history and as far as I am concerned this is a premature failure. What do you think are my chances of getting a goodwill gesture because this is a known faulty part?

  4. Ah right enough , my mistake didn't read it was for the vrs
  5. If the plastic clips are only broken on the light unit and not in the bumper section there is no need to take the bumper off, just do as above regarding removing the panel on the grill ( a bit fiddly but can be done) buy a new drl/fog light ( cheap enough on e bay ). Replace the blown bulb and plug bulbs back into light unit and it will clip back in with a gentle push.
  6. No idea what they mean by permits, just quoted from the article
  7. Volkswagen’s Skoda subsidiary is also feeling the squeeze in the UK, where its Octavia model’s permit originates. British authorities threatened to block the permit, forcing a complete recall, unless Skoda compensated duped consumers. VW fended off that expensive demand, but London’s fall-back position is equally unpalatable for Skoda: a lifetime guarantee on engines modified to meet emissions targets. That has left the VW subsidiary in a difficult position: refusal to go along means the Octavia has no permission to be on the roads; go along and they are opening the floodgates to similar guarantee demands from elsewhere in Europe. Considering that VW/Skoda engineers don’t know the long-term effects of their engine modifications, the Dieselgate aftershocks could be very expensive indeed. http://www.irishtimes.com/business/manufacturing/berlin-gets-the-better-of-brussels-in-dieselgate-row-1.3068880
  8. The driver would have committed the offence of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, they may plead ignorance but in law the registered keeper has to provide details of who was driving at the time and failure to do so would render them liable to prosecution.
  9. Thanks Mike , I had a look and plumped for this one , its magnetic http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152315151199?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  10. This problem has reoccurred on my Octavia, the first time it happened was after being washed, I got as much water out from beneath the rubber base of the aerial unit and a few days of dry weather saw it working again. This time the weather has been pants and have been unable to get the aerial unit dried out properly so I may opt for the universal one as suggested my Mike.
  11. I had the same problem , I bought a keypad on its own and it didn't fit either , I then bought the casing linked to above and the keypad is a perfect fit.
  12. Is your key like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-Fabia-Roomster-Superb-3-Button-Flip-Remote-Key-Fob-Case-/111298474846?hash=item19e9e7f35e:g:AKcAAOxydlFSo1gf If so you can buy this and just remove the rubber pad from your own key and replace it with the pad from the new case just use a thin flat bladed screwdriver to pop the pads out
  13. I didn't even answer the door , just let my dogs bark at them :-D
  14. Still as good as they have ever been, took my Octavia there this week to get a minor service , brake fluid change and air conditioning service. Although the summer promotion of brake fluid change and A/C service is no longer available on the online booking for fixed price of £89 they provided it at that price rather than the £52 and £75 respectively so a saving of £38. Courtesy car was sitting waiting for me when I arrived and because I had just finished night shift and would be sleeping they sent me a text when the car was ready to pick up. On the emissions fix front they brought up the subject and I stated I didn't want it done , which they were fine with even though I was the first one out of 'lots' of owners who has refused it.
  15. I had an awful problem removing mine initially but used a butter knife which has a slim slightly flexible blade which I slid in at the top of the blanking cover then gave a good tug ( the cover not the knife ) I think with use the clips that hold the blanking cover loosen slightly making them easier to remove in the future. A bit like these ones http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-5-Matching-Butter-Spreading-Knives-Faux-Bone-Square-Edge-Handles-/252507787218?hash=item3acaa30fd2:g:ApMAAOSwHoFXuabI
  16. I am looking to replace my rear badge on Mk1 FL Oct estate , I think this is 80 mm in diameter and he doesn't seem to do that size, can you tell me which size you used.
  17. Try using a virtual private network on your tablet/phone/laptop and you can watch the likes of sky go , BBC I player etc . This works by using a proxy server in the UK so that it looks like you have a UK ip address
  18. Take your pick of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_nkw=2x+LED+Error+Free+Footwell+Door+Courtesy+Luggage+Light+Audi+Q5+Q7+A3+A4+A5+A6+A8&_id=381234806183&&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2658. They work well and make a great improvement just get rid of the wires that come with them and adjust the terminals slightly to get the original connector to fit

  20. The ones you are looking for are the P21W I changed mine in my 2011 face lift at the end of last year
  21. It is possible to remove just the buttons from the fobs and change them over rather than transferring the internals
  22. As far as I know the fan goes into recirculation mode when reversing which does seem to alter the fan speed but as for increasing when turning while stationary or when travelling forwards I can't say I have noticed this myself. Will check later today and see if I notice any change. BTW do you have climate control or standard a/c?
  23. Does your fan actually blow faster or is it just the movement of the air within the vehicle when cornering that you notice ? I have noticed this in several cars in the past that when cornering I feel the temperature change of the warm (or cold) air on my face when cornering but there is no increase in fan speed.
  24. My mistake it turns out motohid do take PayPal Google translate didn't make it clear so have ordered from there as I don't know anyone locally who has ODIS-e or VCP , thanks for your help anyway.
