Well long story but got a chip and crack in the windscreen and needs replacing :( and to top off my luck its MOT day this week so has to be done. So has anyone done there own screen? i don't mind having a go myself as im a bit of a hands on person but wanted to make sure theres no hidden parts/clips that may snap off where i need to go and pick up some more. Already got an original screen from the breakers. Fabia 1.9 SDI

Just seen this as mine run out yesterday and been looking for a little info. Now i have the car booked in but my reputable and garage can't fit me in until wed. Now my dilemma is if i don't drive my car i can't get to work and if i can't get to work 1) i can't afford the MOT/repairs if needed and 2) possibility of loosing my job i only recently started. I also can't afford to pay for public transport as it will cost me at least £10 per day. I'm relay stuck between a rock and a hard place :( If i drive and pulled over what would i expect as an outcome?

I seem to be having the same problem started this morning a bit hesitant and same most of the day come to pick the missus up and POW! no starting :( had to bump start to go pick her up. checked connections and stuff but couldn't see anything so had a mate have a look and it tried to turn over but then stopped so I'm now wondering if its this damn plug might just go scrap yard tomorrow and chop one off and wire it up see how it goes if not reckon its a new ( scrap yard job ) starter?

Gone it was the passenger side bearing. Took everything apart and took hub to garage and the guy charged me £10 to press old one out and new one in

Thought i would update about the battery problem traced the wire down to the plug under/around the starter motor ( i think ?) unclipped the plug and low and behold it had been repaired in the past and a wire had come loose from the spade connectors so got soldering iron out and made a new longer wire and repaired it properly all done and works perfect now

Only took me 15 mins then about 5 to put new one in and replace everything hardest part was finding the damn thing but once you know where it is it you just unplug the cable and the sensor pulls out with ease

Not quite :( drove 50 miles on motorway 9am this morning and sun was already blazing aircon on and i was nice and cool. Parked up for 2 hours come back got in car and no aircon??? WTF!! drove 50 miles home windows open and sweating like mad. Had a think checked everything over and realised the aircon came on for a few seconds then right off and blowing warm air again so had a quick read up and somebody mentioned the Evap sensor? well it was worth a try. Went scrap yard 5 mins away that specialise in german cars and low and behold in the bottom of the yard a load of Fabias quick tug on the dashboard and managed to get my arm right up behind the middle air vents unplugged the sensor wire and pulled the sensor out swapped it over and have had nice cool air for the rest of the hot day and total cost was £5

Re-Gas = £10 no leaks and everything is working perfect car is nice and cool

Nice one brother I will check that tomorrow can't seem there being an faults as the cat come with full service history all done at a skoda specialist but havnt had a look yet to see if any Aircon work had been done

Had my Fabia almost a year and the Aircon has never worked. The button lights up but nobody is home :( Does it need a re-gas or does it need new parts? Could it need new pipes? Defo need it sorting I was sweating like a Fatmans crack today and having window open didn't help that much :/

Thanks for all the help people Took me just over 2 hours to get the hub off, take it to be pressed out and new one pressed in and then refit again the most time taken was pressing the baring as it was seased into the hub and with the odd shape of the hub it was a struggle to get it to seat right in the press. but got there in the end and now my Fabia is as quiet as it was when got it let the missus drive her pink roof Ds3 i have a Skoda Tank

Yeah have tried to have a word but she just says i am more than welcome to drive her car anytime i wish :( i swear she got it with a pink roof knowing i wouldn't drive it. As for the holidays she just says i am more than welcome to stay at home :( Plus sleeping on the sofa is really crap and that also means no bedroom time either

Anyone know what side the front bearing will have failed on? when i drive i have a humming/rumbling noise that goes away when turning/cornering left. i will be changing both but this monthly pay has only been able to stretch to purchasing the one as my missus thinks our holiday to Egypt in July and Florida at xmas is more important but i wouldn't expect her to understand she is ok to drive her pink roofed citroen ds3 knowing full well i will not be seen dead driving a woman car :(

Ok since changing the bushes on the wishbones i have noticed a humming noise from the front of the car that goes away when i turn/go round left bends. Now i had a chat to a mechanic friend of mine and he said it will more than likely be the drivers bearing if the noise goes away under load ( going Left ) but either way i will change them both to be safe so my question's..... How easy are they to change? can they be done DIY or do they need a certain tool or taking off an getting pressed out/in? I don't mind buying a tool but not if I'm only gonna use it just the once And now the battery light. When i first start up the car the batt light flashes intermittently and get a beeping noise everything is slow ( wipers ) dash light are dim, headlights are dim, and batt seems dead and if i have the car stood idling for a while and turn off the car the batt is dead. now heres the weird part... when i start the car the batt light flashes but when i reverse slow then go forward slow the light goes off and the batt starts to charge. any ideas? have checked for loose wires and can't see anything so wondered if anyone has/had the same experience? Apart from that everything is ok

Well spent half the day fitting the bushes to the wishbones took me 2.5 hours for drivers side that where perfectly fine but changed them to poly and the passenger front and back bushes where absolutely cream crackered :( drivers side took longer because didn't have the correct tools to cut the old front bush out but managed it in the end passenger side almost fell out it was that bad lol but all done now and the vibrating isn't as bad as i thought Thanks for the help boys and girls

Unfortunately I am a DIY person and will only resort to another person doing it if I really really can't :( so I shall buy the poly bushes for the front and I already have the bushes for the rear My job this week coming is to get this sorted

Would it be easier to buy the PSB front bushes? how easy are they to fit?

Ok on further in section today the front bush has perished on the passenger side but not drivers side ( from what i can see ) so anyone have any info on what the best course of action would be? i already have the PSB rear bushes so would it be better to get a pair of new wishbones or just a passenger side one obv depending on the state of the drivers front bush

Some nice looking dogs on here people Sod that i grown up around staffs all my life as well as jack russells and i never been bitten off a staff but have off labradors and jack russells lol i would trust a staff around my kids any day but a jack russell? NEVER! i have one called Sam and he's a killer he hates everyone and everything lol

No we got him as a rescue dog as he was found at 10 week old wondering the streets :( just finding out what we need to do to have him exempt he's already micro chipped and learning to wear a muzzle as well as have him booked for his balls off when he gets to age

Nice! Our last dog ( Boo ) was also a pit and had her 12 years until we had to have her put to sleep with kidney cancer :( absolutely destroyed me as she was like one of our kids :(
