  1. Only had my Vrs for two weeks and overall I really like the car but I do have a couple of moans. Firstly I have a terrible buzzy rattle coming from around the instrument cluster, I think it is the black plastic surround. It sounds like a clip rattling at around 30mph, it's getting on my nerves ! The Alloy wheel sticks out past the tyre making it so easy to catch something which I have already found out. First time in years this has happened ! Compared to my previous car, a 1 series BMW, the tyre roar/road noise is louder, not enough to really bother me but it is noticeable. Slight clutch judder for some reason at times. Steering feels a bit wooden in comparison to previous BMW, Audi, Seat. Overall the car is great, averaging around 48mpg around town which is 50% up on my BMW so a decent saving there.
  2. Yes, 8000 miles. I got a few quotes for different deposits. With 3 months deposit, around £785 the payment was £262 or something. At £199 a month it is one hell of a car for that. My wife pays £150 for an 1.2 Ibiza on a pcp ! On a Pcp on an Octavia it is £260 a month for a standard car and that is with a £7000 deposit !
  3. Yes, it is the pch deal, over 3 years. It was around £10 a month more over 2 years. They said the £199 a month was for a bog standard car with a £1500 deposit, any extras bumped the price up. I paid £1000 deposit ( What he allowed me over on mine after paying my previous car off ) so that was £500 less straight away. I think the Black pack was £150, Sunset Glass £200 and spare wheel £100, so another £450. I think that is all mine has ! That would mean that I was 'borrowing' £950 more than a standard car which must have put the price up. At around £4.80 ( With vat ) per extra £100 borrowed I think that would work out around the £240 a month mark which is what I am paying.
  4. I just bought my Vrs from Simpsons, Craig the manager at the Colne branch was great to deal with. Ask for him if you ring. He offered me much more for my car than my local dealers. I am in Northumberland and drove to the Colne branch, took about 2hrs 20 mins so not a bad trip out. The prices and finance rates are meant to be set by Skoda, I put down £1000 (balance left off part ex) and the payment is £240 x 35. This was a car in white with sat nav, black pack, sunset glass and spare wheel. A couple of quotes above seem cheap with having race blue and dsg, maybe it is the higher deposit as you are not borrowing as much. I found the pch to be a no brainer, about £9 k over three years. On a pcp it is a fortune up front, which you always never get back then much higher payments. You then only usually get £1k towards another car, how many actually pay the massive lump sum to buy it. Even if you bought the car outright, you would blow near 50% over three years so paying £9k works out cheap.
  5. To be honest I wouldn't use half the stuff. My Vrs is a 2015 model and is only 1 week old and the main thing I would like is for the Amundsen to read out text messages and connect my iPhone, presume it would need CarPlay to do this. Can this be retrofitted.
  6. All this Mirrorlink, Smargate, CarPlay etc has got me not knowing what is what !! I have a new 2015 VRS with the Amundsen sat nav head unit, what will this have and what exactly will it do ?
  7. Would love to do that, one day.
  8. About to take delivery of my Vrs but this is my summer toy, for when the decent weather finally decides to make an appearance !
  9. I used live chat to one of your advisors today and she said I may not need it depending on the contract, really nice that someone doesn't actually try to push a sale, well done. The car I am leasing through Vwfs is nearly £25k but I haven't got a clue what I need to look for in the contract. I presume all the Vwfs lease contracts are similar. What questions do I need to ask ? If you are leasing you are not actually the owner so would the first year replacement cover apply via your insurance, anyone know ? Mine is on a three year lease so I wouldn't need any longer cover so I presume I would need either 2 year ( if the insurance covered the first year or 3 year cover. I need to keep the price rock bottom, is it invoice cover I would need ?
  10. I am picking up my Vrs next week. It is on a pch lease over 3 years with an invoice price of £25k. Do you need gap on a lease, cannot really afford it but worth looking into maybe.
  11. Cheers, looking forward to getting it. The Yeti Montle Carlo was the same price, the 4 x 4 elegance only £199 , cheap for a top spec car but I have wanted a Vrs for ages especially since a friend got one last year so jumped in. Seemed lucky to find one as they are hard to get without a factory order.
  12. I am picking up my Octavia Vrs diesel early next week from Simpson Skoda in Colne who were great to deal with in choosing a pch deal. Some people have enough cash to place a decent deposit on a pcp, I have done so myself in the past, but I have found that the majority of the time you end up losing most of what you have paid up front with most pcp deals being set up to return around £1000 or so towards your new car when taking out a new deal. On normal Hp after you have made your much higher payments whatever the car is worth goes towards your next car but the payments are ridiculous without a huge deposit. I couldn't afford the high normal Hp payments so looked at pcp but with only having around £1000 deposit it made my payments near £400 which was far too high. I ended up looking into pch and with my £1000 deposit ( part exchanging my car and getting a great price ) the payment came down to £240, much more affordable so I have gone down this route. This was for a car with extras, 8000 miles a year including road tax. I couldn't have afforded to buy the car without the pch so it does the job for me. Total cost around £9500 for three years. The car would lose about 50% or more in value if it was bought outright so it works out much cheaper overall to do it this way.
  13. Hi, I am from Northumberland and am picking up my first Skoda next week from Simpson Skoda in Colne who I found to be very helpful during the purchase. Pics will be posted next week.
