  1. not got any codes at moment, but goes into snail mode with no lights no warning, does the odd cough and stutter and picks up.had it on diagnostics at local garage, no faults apart from af sensor range but thats new and been cleaned. garage advised new EGRvalve due to mileage 210000
  2. have 2.0 4x4 6 speed estate (scout) ex plod, how east is it to blank off EGR and what does it entail, been told involves the veh computer by some and different by others cheers in advance

  4. 2008 OCTAVIA ESTATE 2.0 4X4 6 SPEED (EX POLD) went to change glowplugs and the plastic rail was so brittle it snapped at number one glow plug, in fact it was already hanging off, how easy is it to change this rail, part number VW 038 971 782C some one said this can cause problems with the EGR?
  5. i have a 2008, octavia estate 4x4 6 speed, ex plod, recently the flashing coil light and engine light have been comming on regular, my fault code reader shows no fault code. recently regenerated the emission system replaced the exhaust sensor, , and it still goes into snail mode regularly, and sometimes it seems to miss, cough and pick up again its done 203000 miles, recent service all filters oils ( including cabin filter which looked like not been changed since 2008) starting to do my head in, any ideas
  6. believe me there is nothing bolted onto this master cylinder, unless it is cloaked :-)
  7. ok i give up, have a 2008 4x4 6 speed estate {ex police} where is the brake light switch?????, have checked around the pedal nothing, have looked and felt around master cylinder,with great difficulty i might add, again no switch to be seen, any ideas
  8. i own an ex plod octavia 4x4 6 speed 2.0 estate, with very high mileage, and have tried to find a workshop manual for it, all the haynes crappy books dont cover it and make a point of it, as a retired army mech i do most of the work myself, but with all these new fangled electronic bits etc would like to see what is going on, anyone know where you can get something that covers the 4x4 6 speed 2.0 diesel model??
  9. i have the bulb warning light on permanent, fault code02394, yet the lights are working? also have bulb right back up lights 0159 showing, but dont appear to have any bulbs not working??

I have a 2.0 tdi estate 4x4 6 speed, 2008 with similar symptoms, car noisy on start up which goes as it gets warmer, and a judder /miss every now and then, and again no fault codes I was beginning to think I imagined what was happening, and now they have found that one cylinder is down because an inlet valve is not closing properly due to a warped cam, awaiting the bill

I have a 2008 2.0 tdi 0ctavia estate 4x4 6 speed , ex plod and very high milage it has gone down on one cylinder and grage stte cam shaft for valves wears and doesn't allow the inlet valve to close properly giving me the whoomph sound, supposedlya common fault, anyone else had this? thyve had it 2 weeks now and still waiting for a price or reason

I have a skoda octavia 2007, ex police, 4x4 6 speed, and its done a lot of mileage, i had the dashboard disco and snail mode, so took EGR off, leaned it, and now every few months squirt the EGR cleaner into it........as per instructions on can.......no more problems, cost £5.99 for the wynns cleaner and an hour of my time
  13. re the above, when you touch the hoses from the egr and turbo you can feel the pulsating in them if that helps
  14. i have an ex police octavia estate 2008 4x4 6 speed, all has been great until recently whe i started to get a wump wump noise from engine, no warning light, no overheating no luss of power just this awful noise when on tickover and becomes more metalic when driving. put myVgate scan machine on it and it came up with the code for heater plug 3, so i have changed heater plugs, ..still the same. i have cleaned the egr valve and hoses, the mas valve , cleaned turbo checked for leaks....nothing the noise sounds expensive.any ideas please it has done 196000.00 miles plus all the tickover standing still hous when in police :-)
  15. appears to be comming from the turbo area, loud throbbing noise, can't find anything leaking or lose, no lack of power, stil accelarates any clues?
  16. have an ex police octavia estate 4x4 6 speed 190000 plus miles, been running well, but recently had a strange thumping noise from engine, no lights have come on, no loss of power, but when you touch the pipe from front to the EGR, (DRIVERS SIDE) you can feel the throb, and if you remove the rubber hose the throb is loud, is this the EGR valve, which had a good clean about 6 months ago cheers in advance
  17. hi have just replaced my rear discs and pads on my Octavia estate 4x4 6 speed, 2008, and am in need of the torue bolts holding the caliper bracket. ihave tried contacting these car parts shops on tinternet, to no avail, half say , not got them mate before you even finish describing what you want, some one said they were the ones that fit the audi A4.........oh no theyre not........so any help as to where to purchase them would be appreciated cheers
  18. hi my 2008 octavia estate 4x4 has a crinled nsf door, i have purchased a new one minus window glass, anyone any idea how to get the glass from the old door into the new door, or do i have to drill off the metal door panel?? cheers in advance

ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS PIPE IS CALLED /PART NUMBER ? 2.0 TDI 4X4 ESTATE 2008 Problem i have is lack of power sometimes with warning light, sometimes without, drops into snail mode for a while and then suddenly picks up, no fault codes most of time, only thing i can see is this hose situated to left of radiator as you look at engine bay, hose has metal conector just under censor, and jubilee clip to hard pipe joining EGR, THIS HOSE IS SOFT AND APPEARS TO BE COLLAPSING, it also has metal support rings. tried internet for this hose/pipe to no avail thanks for any help in advance
  20. replaced alternator, battery and starter motor ...cured that fault, now when driving it suddenly judders like fuel fault, sometimes accelerate out of it, sometimes engine management light comes on?
  21. just replaced the alternator on my octavia diesel estate, 08 plate, went for a drive this morning car went into limp mode and glow plug warning light flashing.......not touched anything but disconnect battery, wired to alternator........any ideas veh was running great before this

I have a 2007 skoda estate, diesel, and had the red steering wheel appear, as a result of looking it up, I replaced the battery, as it was starting to be sluggish on start up.............problem solved....................after a few days the red steering wheel appears every now and then, battery is charging fine, i have put one of those diagnostic testers on.shows no faults, and reading these forums confuses even more, does a 2007 skoda octavia diesel estate 4x4 have steering fluid or not ?, i certainly cannot find anything with a green top at the rear , to the left or anywhere else..............anyone enlighten me????

I have a 2008 octavia diesel estate, ex plod, became sluggish when starting and red steering wheel light came on, advised to change battery, which I did, I now have a yellow steering wheel and a skidding car light on dash board ?, have diagnosed it, but shows no fault codes.....................any ideas apart from that fantastic car to drive...........
  24. hi, did try to upload picture but said it was too big,anyway I paid to have it fitted as the plods had removed the aerial as well, took the bloke less than an hour to re wire and put indoor aerial on car, now have full music surround.............many thanks for the advice
