I have seen some topics related to this problem but I think mine maybe slightly different. The door wont unlock dispite the other 3 working OK If I pull the internal handle the locking bolt on top of the door trim pops up but the door won't open Ant help would be appreciated as I often ferry elderly people around and at the moment none of them can get in the front!

Can anyone tell me if the alternator should be running hot please?

Iv'e just replaced the cable and fuse box and 110a fuse. Took the car for a short run and checked the crimped lead and all seems OK. Battery light not on but this was intermittent before so time will tell. I did notice however that the alternator case was very hot. Is this normal? as I've never had reason to check this before. Also I found it impossible to attach the cable clip to the alternator body, does this matter? Thanks

I got about 13.5volts but that was when the fault wasn't present

Did the corroded cable bring your battery light on intermittently? Also when the cable was disconnected from the battery and a meter put across the cable and earth I only got 5.5volts out of the altenator

I have a VRS and recently the battery warning light came on intermittently. I got a local mobile car electrics guy to take a look and he said the black wire from the alternator to the fuse box on top of the battery was overheating and consequently I need a new regulator for the alternator. I've sourced one on ebay and will be confirming with the supplier that they have the right part for me. He thinks the alternator is OK but I read on this forum that the pulley has a clutch in it and should have some resistance in one direction. Mine free wheels both ways. Is this OK? Also although I have got the alternator off its mounting I can't see a way of getting it out of the engine bay so if I only need to change the regulator it would be much easier (and cheaper!) Any advice would be most welcome as I need to get mobile again!

I'm after some vrs octy mk1 wheel centres. Not sure if this thread is active or exactly where I can get them from. Any help please:rolleyes:

Have been the proud owner of an Octavia VRS for 2 years now and still love it. However recently some strange staining has appeared on the rear spoiler. We took it to the local dealer and he said that water has got in though the laquer and has stained the paint underneath. You can see this by rubbing the surface after it has rained and seeing the trapped water moving about! Its not covered by the paint warranty so I'd like some advice please. A new spoiler is £250.....dont really want to pay that! I have got a compressor so could strip it back and respray and laquer it. Is this a tricky job and where would I get the paint from? Anyone know of a cheaper source for a replacement etc. thanks people:O

Just been told by my skoda garage that I need a new catalytic converter for my VRS. £500 plus fitting!! There is a rattle from inside it and they say it is breaking up. Are there generic equivalents which are cheaper and just as good? Can the old one be repaired etc. Thanks for the info....I cant really afford to pay out that kind of money at the moment.:eek:

its probably the plug adaptor. they sometimes come with a link between the yellow 12v and the red 12v switched. just remove the link.

The booster is needed because your Sony HU is not able to power the OEM booster thats located in the base of the aerial. __________________ Manny OK Manny that sounds clear enough. As a matter of interest how did the skoda head unit power the amp if it was located in the base of the aerial. the only wire I can see coming from the aerial is the coaxial itself. some posts have said that the aerial amp was in the HU!?. On a different note the front speakers still sound ropey with little or buzzing base although they are better now. Any recommendations for improved bass from a new pair?. And whats all this about removing the waterproof membran:thumbup:e behind the units to stop buzzing?

recently bought a sony head unit to replace the symphony in my Octavia vRS and yes the radio reception IS bad. But I dont seem to find on the forums a definite answer. Is an in line booster the answer or do I have to supply 12v to the existing ariel amp or was that in the old unit anyway. some people have tried a booster with no effect so I'm not sure what to do except I need to do something!!:confused:

Hi everyone. just bought my first vRS octavia. silver on a 02 plate. Haven't even picked it up yet! (next weekend). have some general questions. Is it worth paying extra for premium rate fuel. best insurance company...i'm 56years old with full NCB and 3 points whats the ICE like? any cool accessories you could recommend to start me off
