  1. Sad to say, I have had to say goodbye to my Superb. Circumstances change, and keeping the best car I've ever owned was no longer an option. And I wanted to stay on here as a Freedom member etc, but it just would break my heart reading more and more about the car that I love.
  2. I'd be intrigued if it returns in a few weeks for you like mine did - but genuinely hoping it doesn't mate! Will keep you guys posted.
  3. Remember when I said they fixed mine? Replaced the top mounts and the bushes and it was squeaky clean and noise free thereafter? Well you'll be pleased to know that it didn't stay squeaky clean for long. Maybe 2 weeks after collecting from dealers, the noise is back. Haven't had the time to get it booked back in with work being so hectic at the moment, but I will be on the phone to them very soon. Not good.
  4. Just picked her up from Allams, smooth and silent as she should be. They replaced the top mount on the driver side. And then lubricated everything up. Considering I've had it all re-greased before (to no success), it seemingly was the top mount that needed replacing as the culprit. Will report back in a few days to ensure the silence remains. Perhaps raise this with the chaps at Bickertons Nick if they haven't thought about investiating the top mounts already?
  5. They called me to say noise is gone after greasing bushes and suspension. So returned loan car and thanked them. Started driving home... And it wasn't gone. So back it went with a firm request to actually fix it properly!
  6. Mines going in to Allams in Epsom first thing Tuesday. Will demonstrate the noise and leave with them and advise of what your chaps are doing. Hopefully - with a two pronged attack from Allams and Bickertons, Skoda will do something and fast!
  7. Mine is non-stop. Always making that f#@kin' noise the moment these conditions are met: brake applied on uneven road. A question - if Skoda claim it's not a "problem" and I should just live with it, what routes can someone take? I have a c.£30k car that's just over a year old... And for damn sure won't be just "living with it".
  8. That, good sir, is 100% the noise I hear. What's so odd for me is that the noise only really happens (or should I say is noticeably audible) when I apply the break, on any form of uneven Road surface/angled bend. I'm not booked in till the middle of May now as Skoda Assist deemed my car save to drive and not an urgent fix. But will not be happy if I'm constantly getting it lubricated at dealer over the 3 year warranty!

I definitely notice it most in the mornings on a cold start, but for me it doesn't stop (even after a 300 mile round trip from London to Birmingham - the speedbumps after getting off M roads continue to cause the creak if I apply the break). Would be keen to hear the outcome of your dealer's investigation. And the courtesy car not having the noise might also mean it's a problem that occurs to older cars?
  10. I'm so glad I read this post. I have a year old Superb with DCC. Recently (last month) I noticed intermittent creaking noises, on uneven surfaces at low speeds (just like you said Nick). Took to service centre, regreased bushes, apparently fixed, they couldn't get the noise to happen on test drive. I believed them and drove home. And here's the VERY PECULIAR thing. The noise happened again, intermittently, so I investigated different conditions. And discovered that it happens every time under these conditions: going over a speed bump/uneven surface, with my foot pressing the break (only softly). If you go over the bump without your foot on the break, the creak does not happen at all. Been back into service after discovering how to make it happen every time. They say it's safe to drive and not an issue, nor are there any TPIs about a known issue. And none of them have any clue why, upon pressing the break, it happens every time (and it's VERY loud now). I don't accept that, at all, and it's going back in (this time to selling dealer) soon for another look, and I told them to keep investigating the car until the noise is gone. Can you gents do me a favour, and try going over a bump at around 15mph without breaking, and the second time with your foot slightly on the break. Any difference?
  11. My Superb is in right now for its first service, and on the way over to Wimbledon I noticed the same, odd, thing I've been noticing for a few months now. And it makes me ask "is my DCC really in comfort mode?" I often find that it's not very comfortable/soft over bumps/cracks when I switch it to comfort mode, but every once in a while when I'm driving down the same, speedbump laden, road home... I switch it to comfort, and then the suspension becomes like butter. Almost air suspension good! It always makes me wonder, does my DCC just sporadically choose to listen to me and otherwise ignore the changes I request? Because I can't seem to make it go to butter mode on demand! Anybody else noticed this? I've raised it today but imagine the technicians won't have a clue what to say...
  12. Ironically, I find it moves out of manual mode too slowly! Using the manual mode via the gear lever probably is your best bet. So after shifting down using the paddle for the roundabout, I press and hold on the right (upshift) paddle, and it reverts to auto mode. You only need to hold it for a about 2/3 seconds. I often shift up to a higher gear using the paddle when I feel the DSG is holding a lower gear longer than necessary when doing 30/40mph, and then press and hold the paddle again to switch back to auto mode and the DSG keeps it at the higher (more economical) gear.
  13. I haven't noticed the noise one (yet!) since the change, but I must say I feel it 'hangs' onto gear 4 a lot more now as opposed to shifting comfortably up to gear 5 on 30mph roads etc. Good luck with yours!
  14. Can confirm that I can't hear any noises when in 2 cylinder mode. Maybe get it checked? You are under warranty of course.
  15. Yep, just turn it down to zero. And a word for the wise, as you turn the dial down, from fan speed 4 or 5 or whatever, and have spun it all the way to the left at fan speed one... Wait for a second or so and then spin it counterclockwise again after you've moved it down to 1 to switch it off. Or you might find that constantly turning it counterclockwise in rapid succession when at a higher fan speed initially does nothing to get it lower than fan speed 1. Must be a built in system to stop people accidentally switching it off when simply wanting to lower the speed.

  17. You need to push down some of the leather/cloth on the seat back top where the button is to control the headrest. If you can, you'll reveal a small opening within the mechanism. Push a flat headed screwdriver into it and pull the headrest up and it should slide out entirely. Of course, drop the seat as far back as you can to make this easier as the headrest won't come out if the seats upright. A bit fiddly, but it works. And I managed to fit my old Skoda wooden coat hander into mine which looks great with the Beige leather and is used everyday.
  18. Ah that's it. Every 100 hours. It resets itself. So don't worry it wasn't your fault!
  19. I could be wrong... But I think the "Long term" resets itself after certain parameters are met. Something to do with time or distance driven... Can't remember exactly what but I am pretty sure that it will reset itself sometimes.
  20. Yes you can. Brands like Anker and RAV Power both work fine on my GS7 Edge with their 1ft Long USB cables. It doesn't need to be angles to fit inside the Phonebox with the lid covered (but my GS7 Edge is too big to close the cover anyway so not useful for me... Might be useful for you)

  23. It was such an intermittent noise that even after 25 minutes of driving with the technician sat beside me, we didn't hear a thing. It was only as we headed back to the dealership giving up that the noise began! I'm using Allams in Epsom and I think they are a great outfit... It's just my car seems to only make the noises whenever it likes which is why it was difficult to diagnose!
  24. Same as yours jeehi A clutch issue. Managed to record the sound with the technician this morning so they've ordered a new clutch pack to replace and then do an ECU change.
