  1. Looking at all of these on we buy any car, the 18 plate superb saloon 1.4 tsi is a very good price (list price is 500 above what they pay) and the 17 plate 2.0 diesel superb estate is reasonable price (1800 difference), others are all 2-3k lower than the list price - particularly the 1.0 tsi etc.
  2. 4. Yes, agreed re: the more sedate/ town driving - not really what I am after I guess - mainly a14/ longer journeys with family/ dog. I will revert to looking for the 1.4 tsi or 2.0 diesel?
  5. Hi all, Been looking further into this, I have come across a few options and wondering about price, just under 13k, 17 plate superb estate 2.0 tdi dsg 45k miles just under 11k, 66 plate octavia estate 1.0 tsi manual 35k miles Any thoughts?
  6. Hi All, I am considering changing my car to an Octavia (or Superb) saloon or estate. Need a larger family car ideally, currently have a Skoda Rapid (saloon) and Hyundai i20 - we are thinking keep the Rapid and sell the i20 toward this. I do approx 12-15k per year, mainly driving on the a14 for work and then family journeys are all longish trips so I am torn between the 1.4 TSI (have the 1.2 TSI in the Rapid) or the 2.0 Diesel engine. With this in mind what do you think would be a good choice and is an Octavia a better choice over the Superb? Thanks
  7. NHi, It is now four years old Oil service every 10k and I am now changing it every 6k. Jusg had oil service and is on 5w40 now. All filters changed as well except fuel which is a lifetime one, but I had it changed last year. Any more info on the water pump? Thanks
  8. Hi all, I'm bumping this thread as I am finding the noise cropping up again. - It seems to whine a bit when idle and the engine seems to rumble a bit, it's really difficult to explain, the rumble is like a bubbly rumbling and it is very intermittent and happens far less when not idle or car is hot. No performance issues at all, now at 70k and just flew through its MOT without issue. Just wondering if anyone else has had this?
  9. I have had it checked out no update required.
  10. I took it to my local garage who plugged it into a computer. Only fault was an electrical one which was non descript. Battery was fine and passed tests Hopefully a one off!
  11. Hi all, just had this fault come up on my rapid To give some context Hasn't been driven in about 4-5 days, Typically driven very regularly on 40 mile trips Is nearly 5 years old Checked battery sitting at 12.2 cold, 13.26 when on - seems to be a bit low so figuring it might be this? Anything else I should look into it consider? Thanks
  12. It is a 2013 rapid 1.2 tsi petrol 67k done Serviced one year ago and had spark plugs done then with all filters/ brake clean etc How would I go about getting the software update done? It was serviced with Skoda for the first 3 years so not sure if it was done then?
  13. Thanks all No warranty so happy to do what I can. To list what was said here, New air filter (Any other required?) Brake clean and check New brake fluid Anything else?
  14. Hi all, I have a service coming up and wanted to check what I should have changed. I did the oil myself recently, I am assuming new fuel filter/ air filter? Cabin filter was done recently as well. Anything else I should consider? Thanks
  15. Hi All, I just changed my cabin filter to a Mann one which in the manual says it needs to go in a certain way due to the airflow. Based on the image, it suggests airflow is heading toward the passenger door not inward towards the central console. Can anyone confirm this is the case so I have it around the correct way. Thanks.
  16. Where is the pollen filter in the Skoda Rapid? I will double check if it was replaced but cannot recall if it was. Thanks.
  17. Hi all, I have recently noticed that when I turn off my air con and it goes back to non-air con it smells quite bad for a period of time before returning to normal. A slightly musty smell I believe. I recently had the air con checked and the garage said it didn't need re-gas but instead a purification. This doesn't seem to have done much. Any ideas? Thanks.
  18. Hi All, Thank you for the information, Are you all suggesting I do not bother to use the Pela 6000 oil extractor - will there be any harm in using it? I've not got a wrench set currently but can get my hands on one. I'm a week over on the oil change already on the car now (about 125miles) so not wanting to leave it much longer. Can I get under the car without a jack?
  19. Thank you for the info here, yes it is the timing chain and oil filter at high level. I have bought a MANN filter is this fine? (from Euro car parts) I will cover below the filter with absorbent paper to avoid drowning the alternator. I'm going to do the oil change tomorrow.
  20. Hi All, I am doing an oil change on my Skoda Rapid this Saturday. I am going to use a Pela 6000 to get the oil out. I have bought some Petronas 5000 AV 5w30 oil, after looking around this seems good for my mileage (over 10k) and style (dual carriage way) - can anyone confirm this is OK? Wanting to check the procedure for doing the change etc. e.g. do I need to unplug the battery, do I need to warm car up first etc. Anything that could help. Thanks.
  21. Hi All, After a drive this evening I parked up and could hear a loud whistling? type noise coming from the car. Popped the bonnet and it seemed to be coming from the rear of the engine, behind the turbo. It subsided dramatically after about 30 seconds or so. Just wanting to check if it is a sign of anything - if it is just 'one of those noises' I'm really not bothered about getting it fixed etc. as it cannot be heard in the cabin. However, if it is something mechanical etc. I'll get it looked into. Thanks.
  22. probably a silly Q but how do I change my readout from my mobile phone to the average mpg? Thanks
  23. I think my accelerator pedal stuck this morning, I'm unsure if it was caught on the car mat below or what, it hasn't done it in over 4k miles since I've had it so I'll keep an eye. If it is, what do you advise I do? Is this a common thing? It's out of warranty now so can't use that (though it just did go out of warranty - end of Sept.) Thanks.
