  1. It's a joy, isn't it! Hurrah for copperslip too!
  2. Well, I have the new part in place. As people have said, it is the lever pivot point that seems to sieze - either that or starts to flex as it ages - or a bit of both. The part number is 3T0-823-480-B, and the part description they use is just "hook". Part number is in fact marked on the part, but you have to do handstands to read it. I greased it up with some copper grease before fitting it (on the lever pivot as well as the hook spring) - slightly miffed that I couldn't find my tube of threadlock for the torx bolts, but they seemed to go in nice and tight. Anyway, job's a good 'un!
  3. Haven't forgotten you - still waiting for the part to arrive!
  4. ...just heard back from the dealer. Part is £35 inc VAT, so for the sake of a few quid I have one on order. Will update when I receive it!
  5. I started taking it off then decided I wouldn't for the time being. It's just three torx bolts with blue threadlocker on them. If you have any joy with a part number then let me know - I called the parts dept to see if they are available and am waiting for a call back :/
  6. Funnily enough I have the same issue. I don't think it is the cable, as the initial release works OK - it's just freeing the hook. Long handled screwdriver and a torch allowed me to move the hook (it goes to the left) and open the bonnet. Seems to be that the plastic flap that swings the hook is flexing rather than moving the hook - probably because the pivot points are partly siezed and causing the flap to flex rather than pivot. WD40 has helped, but it's still not great. Am intending to revisit with more WD40 until it works smoothly, then grease properly with something gloopy. I have tried finding a part number for this item, but no joy - similar parts for different models are available for around £20, so if I could find an original part I would be tempted to replace it with a shiny new one.
  7. Will do.... yoiu may have to wait til tomorrow morning though.
  8. It took me a while to set mine up too - though the main reason for that is that when the display was showing the security code of "1111 2222 3333 4444" or whatever, I was trying to enter the spaces into my phone, and kept running out of characters.... then I realised it was just Skoda spacing the code out to make it easier to read.....
  9. Just arrived. It seems fine, but the other recommendations above are probably just as good if not better. It is possible to remove it without too much hassle as although it is nearly flush the rim is easy to grip to pull out. Nice to have twin USB sockets on it. It would be interesting to measure if these things do draw any current if left inserted, or if they are smart enough to only do so when something is connected.
  10. I have just ordered one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M6Q83B4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 - a flush looking dual USB chappie - will report back when it arrives.
  11. Yes, the tinted rears look great with the white, don't they.
  12. Well, I bought it. Couldn't justify the extra money for the one with extra toys, and my wife didn't really like the idea of the auto tailgate anyway. One tiny bodywork issue - a very small ding in the rear quarterpanel that would be a total PITA to have fixed, but apart from that very clean and tidy.
  13. Not yet - they have it "put by" for me so I have first dibs, but no commitment to buy.
  14. True, there's keyless & park assist as well. The cheaper one's white too... Car A 170CR DSG Elegance Estate 70K, £11749 FSH White Keyless Entry Front & Rear Sensors, Park Assist Electroboot Car B 170CR DSG Elegance Estate 76K, £9750 FSH White Front & Rear Sensors Heated Rears Cambelt etc done Satnav up to date Recent tyres I'd hoped to have had a friend look at the more expensive one (car A) by the time I went up to see car B, but looks like that isn't going to happen. Not sure how much negotiation there will be on either car really, as demand seems fairly high for them. To put it bluntly, the £2k difference - or even £1500 - would pay for plenty of other things around the house, so toys are nice, but do they add THAT much to resale in 2-3 years? Probably not.
  15. ...but £2000 for an electric boot is a lot to pay.
  16. Off to see the cheaper one tomorrow... fingers crossed it's a good 'un, as my wife thinks I'm mad going so far to look at a car
  17. Now I want a burger and onions... mmmm.... onions......
  18. Well, that adds interest to the equation. The cheaper one has heated rear seats. So it's heated rears (and cheaper) vs keyless entry, electric boot and (I think) park assist.
  19. It's a fair point. It's mainly because the cheaper one looks a bit "tired" inside - though a valet may address that. The other key issue is that I am down in Bristol regularly, so feel a bit more comfortable buying from somewhere I can go back to more easily.
  20. Just looked on Autotrader and the price has been changed to £11749, and it looks a fair bit less "tired" than the cheaper one, so am arranging for a viewing next week once they get it on the premises.
  21. I'm going to get my friend to go and look at the one near Bristol later in the week hopefully. Tempted by the idea of the cheaper white one up near Wakefield http://www.thetradecaroutletossett.co.uk/used-cars/skoda-superb-2-0-tdi-cr-dpf-elegance-dsg-5dr-ossett-201504152624323 - but I would have to trust the dealer to buy that far from home. I have just spoken to them, and the car has full dealership service history, the belt/pump etc was done last service, and they'll put a full RAC warranty on it so I can get any issues addressed locally rather than pegging it up to Yorkshire. Fewer toys on it, but it has the front parking sensors which is the upgrade we wanted.
  22. Sorry zeddicus, the estate is what is needed really - dogs and all that.
  23. Ha! That's what the ad for this white one says too http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201504152624323 It's a bit of a trek to get up to look at that one (Brighouse, Yorks), but although it doesn't list them, it looks to have the front sensors - but I think not park assist. More miles (76k), slightly fewer toys, FSH but not done since 63K, so I am looking at a service and probably cambelt change, but it is under £10K. Anyone had any dealings with The Trade Car Outlet? EDIT - called them up - they are owned by D M Keith, who are Skoda agents. That's a bit reassuring. This lot sell the cars that are over the "offical" Skoda agents allowance for mileage (70k). To be honest, my wife's mainly worried it will look dirty in white :/
