  1. I found some 'qurks' with my engine when the temp sensor was faulty that cleared up when it was replaced. One of these was starting a warm engine after a stall, the engine would need revs after the start or the engine would stop again Tim
  2. I’m looking to upgrade the front speakers in my fabia. I'm not looking for anything too special, just better that the OEM speakers. Not looking to spend to much either (bit skint atm but fed up of the poor sound quality :(). I'm looking for speakers that will be (reassembly) essay to fit. I've heard this isn’t the easiest upgrade to do. I'm looking on ebay so if there’s anything on there atm I'd vary much appreciate any help in finding some. Thank you vary much Tim
  3. lol I think there’s potential for this car, though VW would have to give a lot of though to how there going to manage there small car range as it would now include this the Fox and the Polo. I'm not sure these space for all three. The Fox didn't really give VW a replacement for the lupo (city car) as its too big, this would be the lupo's replacement (obviously). The best way to stop the Fox becoming redutant would be to market it as a budget and smaller alternative to the Polo. Let's face it superminis (including the polo) were fox sized not too long ago. I think this is maybe what VW have tried to do with it. I do think the engine options need a change though. keep the 12 6v 55ps add the 'new' 1.2 12v 70ps either drop the 1.4 75ps or replace it with the 1.4 80ps (if dropped the 1.2 12v 70ps would be its closes replacement) add the 1.4 TDi 70ps or 80ps as a Diesel option I'm not shore on the rear-wheel drive on the new car either. (sorry I ramble too much) Tim
  4. I have a '02' reg fabia classic MPi, (35K miles) vary happy with it - just a few 'creature comforts' the classic misses. I have found the fuel consumption a little high though and from looking at past posts i have got mixed feedback from other drivers. I get 40/42 MPG when im nice to it on motorway <70MPH 37/38 MPG normal at 70-80MPH in motorways 30ish MPG if i fly at 90+MPH. (speeds taken from shown value on speedometer) no accurate figures for town or 'A-roads' though, maybe ~30MPG around town I do have cross bars on my car most of the time, but is this a little low and does having a roof rack make a significant difference. Are my values low or average?
  5. I'm looking to retrofit central locking to my fabia classic but the skoda kit doesn
  6. Hey, me again When I used my car today (first time since me and my Dad have a look at the sensor) and the coolant temp gauge worked intermittently. When i parked for work the gauge was working but the 'electronic engine management' light was still on. However when i left work later the gauge still worked but the management light was not on (was on at start up so light still working). Does it have a long and short-term memory or something, so when a problem is fixed or fixes itself the light goes out but the code stays in the long term memory? half way home the gauge stopped working, so its not fixed :( I found this topic. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/temperature-gauge-fluctuation/66771/ It all seems to be familiar (even same engine (1.4MPi) and one same reg (02) as one of the cars mentioned). Though when they sometimes say thermostat, do they mean the coolant temp sensor? Is the coolant temp sensor used by the engine management system to control the reeves at idle when cold, etc? My car has had some interesting quarks when starting at certain times (nothing series). Could this be connected? Thanks Tim PS - I've found the resistances of the coolant sensor in my Haynes manual (they were a little hidden) If anyone wants/needs to know just ask
  7. I've just found this article too The coolant temp gauge went to the left, came back to normal a few times but is now stuck at the left. The 'electronic engine management' light also came on, is this normal? If so will it go out when the sensor is replaced? What is the resistance of the sensor when cold? Thanks Tim
  8. Thanks allot for that, lots of useful info even though I’ve not planning on having the locking remote. Would it be possible for me to buy the skoda centrol locking kit for the fabia and a boot realise devise (motor/solenoid) and use this to open the boot when the car is unlocked using a switch (I will have) installed in the boot. does the control locking control unit support this? Thanks Tim
  9. I'm looking to buy and install the control locking kit from skoda for the fabia, but i found when i last looked that it doesn
  10. Thank you all for your help... all those months ago. I never got the occy head unit to work even after fiddling with the connections, I gave up on it. but I found a fabia 502 unit on ebay so bort that (has a scuff on one side as it only defect). Vary happy with it now and hopping to get a vw in-dash cd changer too soon. May upgrade to the Blaupunkt Malaga CD35 later as well. Thanks Tim
  11. Thanks for your help, but when I looked at the radio connections I found that there is no red or yellow wire(s) if this was the connecter, looking at the front 1234 5678 witch wires need changing? Thanks
  12. I recently fitted an octavia symphony radio to my fabia 1.4 MPI, classic and found it seemed to have the following faults: The radio lights did not come on when the cars head lights/dash lighting was on. The radio did not turn its self off when the ignition key was removed, both fabia radios I
  13. hi every1, my car is an 02 reg fabia hatch classic, and its green.
  14. I recently bort an OCTAVIA symphony radio for my fadbia, but after fitting to my car (with the use of a fitting plate) but when started to use it I found that the lights on the radio did not work at all (the lights that turn on when the cars headlights are on). I thought this was a fault in the radio, so i returned it. but the replacement radio's lights didn
