  1. I ordered some parking sensors on Ebay. Just the type that beep the closer you are to something behind you. The kit included a small drill for the holes and there was a choice of around 20 colours. Took me an hour to fit myself and wire into the reversing lights. & here's the real bonus . . . . . . . . . they cost under £15.00 including the postage !
  2. Anyone looking for 4 Citigo steel wheels to put winter tyres on, in the Manchester area - look on Gumtree - £50.00 Too far from Aberdeen and the couriers are insisting on boxes if they take them.
  3. I have had my Citigo for just over a month but have had winter tyres on all my 3 previous cars over the last 6 years. Ok so I live in Aberdeenshire but you get wet, frosty and icy road surfaces throughout the UK at certain times of the year. Winter tyres don't need to be compulsory, but common sense is a good second and if you can get a set of steel wheels then take the opportunity - as others have said you won't believe the difference until you drive with them.
  4. Had winter tyres on my last car and the difference in wet weather was good, On snow it was amazing with other car owners looking at me as though I had studded tyres Ok so this year we have all been lucky but I suspect we will be like Germany soon where they will be compulsory during the colder months. I do however come from Aberdeen but with any possibility of frost, ice or snow I have "winters" on from late October to late April. The only downside is the rubber wears away quickly above 7C 4 good 14" steel rims are now fairly readily available on ebay etc for under £100 and a new set of Uniroyal MS Plus 77 winter tyres from mytyres.com at under £170 should allowing for fiting come all in at under £300
  5. There are a lot of comparable cars out there but many of them have simply too many gadgets - unnecessary gadgets that you will rarely if ever use and then go wrong. I remember hiring a Vauxhall Corsa just a few months after it was launched, it had everything with so many buttons that were simply a driving distraction. Most of the buttons were also cast-offs from other models. Very happy with the Citigo, it does everything I want in comfort thank you.
  6. Nearly 300 miles on the car and breaking it in gently. At work a couple of people have remarked - you're driving a Skoda ! ! ! I simply reply by saying they are a bit like Marmite - not for everyone but if you try one you'll probably get a pleasant surprise. MPG is around 57mpg which given short journeys I feel is pretty good. Still delighted!
  7. Having driven many cars over 40 years I am at the "smaller car" stage of life with the kids now in their early 30's. I looked at a VW Up, then after a lot of research it was obvious that the Skoda Citigo was well worth considering. There was only one problem, I wasn't particularly a Skoda fan and often used to joke about BMW & Jaguar car drivers, looking out of place in their expensive cars with their "Skoda faces". That said a test drive at the Aberdeen dealer concluded by my returning the car & simply saying to Martin, the salesman in the showroom - "I've got to have one of those" Just 7 days later I was back and concluded the visit by putting a deposit down on a 5 door greentech elegance. Not brand new, but registered just before Christmas 2014 it only had 25 miles on the clock. My last car was a 2 litre 16 valve Peugeot but the transition to the Citigo could not have been smoother. The only regret so far, is that I didn't make change earlier. All I have to perfect now, is my "Skoda face"
