  1. As others have mentioned, the TJA needs a certain ABS version to work..
  2. I have had a problem that might be related. When listening to music over bluetooth, suddenly the sound disappears and I have to disconnect and reconnect to get sound again. This is with an S7 with Android 7.0 so it could be a Nougat problem. But not necesarily connected..
  3. You simply dont have voice control activated, all the buttons do is mute the sound as others have written. It is not simply activated by VCDS, I tried and it does not work. I am mostly annnoyed by the fact that a rather expensive cars comes with two buttons for a feature that is not installed. I have three buttons for muting sound ☺ But maybe it does not matter much, cause everybody says Skodas voice control works really bad. I had a Hyundai i10 with voice control in Danish, and it worked perfectly. Amazing it can not work in a much more expensive car.
  4. Thanks, I actually did already ask them, but after I bought the unit with them having seen this topic ☺ Did not think of having Canton as a problem until after I placed the order, and wrote them straight away. I just got an e-mail with a refund which was very nice of them, but I can only assume it is because Canton actually is a problem, since they did not really reply.. The thing is that Canton also has optical cabling to an external amplifier under the frontseat, so adding a navsat unit might not be that simple - I know that other 3rd party HUs do not work with Canton.
  5. Does anyone know if the Kenwood GVN MIB1 works with Canton sound?
  6. Just to be sure.. Are you trying to update via the service menu, that is, holding the menu button and accessing the sw update menu? There is another update menu under setup, but this will not work..
  7. The manual states that oil depletion is to be expected, especially with a new car, however I was still surprised when the engine oil level low error showed up today, after 12000 km = 7500 miles. The former cars I have owned could drive 20.000 km without oil depletion (maybe more - never got any warnings, but of course oil was changed at 20k km service.).. Is this really to be expected with the Octavia? Anyone else topped up engine oil this early?

  9. Sorry if I messed up the original post by posting a link to the apparently wrong cable. There should be a lightning to MDI cable, at least I saw a couple on ebay. Dont know however if the original Skoda part number mentioned above is the correct one for the ligtning to MDI/mitsumi - probably not.
  10. Why would you think that? MDI is made for multiple products, including mp3 players and usb flash disks. The Media transfer protocol that android (now) uses should certainly be supported in newer audio systems, including the Bolero..
  11. Anyone with a Bolero that have succesfully used an android phone with the MDI plug? Mine keeps saying 'no playable files' and another kitkat phone says 'error usb device'. A very old android 2.2 phone works fine however, so it probably comes down to the MTP protocol versus the old USB storage protocol. Charging works, but apparently only with 500 mA since it is very slow.. It is a micro USB to MDI cable.. I essentially have a media in plug that serves as a very slow charger, and no USB plug..
  12. I normally dont care to much about the quality of mp3s, it sounds the same to me whether it is 128 or 256 (let the flaming begin :-)). Most is 192 kbps ripped from my cds.
  13. Strange, photo shows USB cable, but text says MDI. The productnumber 5E0051510E is officially listed as MDI to USB-Apple Ligtning.
  14. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-Connecting-cabel-USB-for-Apple-Lightning Dont know what shipping costs however..
  15. And with advanced eq, you mean three band eq (bass, middle and treble)? That is what I have with Bolero and Canton (+ canton surround and canton subwoofer adjustment)
  16. Great answer, I was not quite sure if the amp and equalizing part was actually done in the HU or the Canton system. Was hoping that the Columbus had an extended equalizer but apparently not.. In DK quite a few shops can retrofit original headunits.
  17. I get the point, but even if this per definition is air conditioning, I am surprised it needs that much power for the ventilators to keep running during an automatic engine stop, and hence the start/stop system should be working.. The real power consumption unit in the AC is of course the compressor, and that was not turned on. But apparently something in the AC does disable the start-stop system without the compressor running, so you must be right :-) I do see the point with these messages not being real error messages, this saved me a visit to the dealer (who told me to have it checked when I mailed him).
  18. I have the Bolero radio and Canton and must admit I am a little disappointed by the sound quality, and especially the equalizer possibilities in the Bolero/Canton combination. I have found it very difficult to have one setting that fits most music.. In generel it is the treble I have issues with, the bass is great. But with the treble I am unable to have a setting where most music sounds good, a lot of songs end up having a very loud whiny (in lack of better words) treble sound. The surround setting seems to make it worse so I have turned it down quite a bit which helped. But when lowering the treble and mid level below 0 a lot of music sounds to flat and lacks the treble. So not really a perfect allround setting for my ears :-) Any good advice on this very subjective matter? And also very important.. Does anyone know if sound quality and equalizer options improve with the Columbus, as I am considering upgrading?
  19. That makes sense, but the AC was not turned on..
  20. In the three days I have owned the car I have had three errors with the start stop system, two different error messages as seen in the attached photos.. The errors do not make sense since the engine was running in all cases.. And whats up with the aircondtioning error occuring under the start-stop system? AC was off btw, and not trying to turn it on.. Anyone else had these?
  21. I am only able to show the call log in the MFD using the steering wheel controls (pressing the call button). I would prefer to have contacts shown in the MFD or at least my favorite contacts. Have looked everywhere in the settings, it does not seem possible to change this. I have a Bolero. Is this possible? Is the phone control including MFD options better with Columbus?
  22. No, its a danish car, Combi Elegance. Bluetooth and working voice control really should be standard equipment in such an expensive car.. Our second car is a Hyundai i10 which costs 1/4 of the Octavia here, and it has bluetooth, steering wheel controls AND quite good voice control in Danish! Skoda have not even bothered to translate the Bolero menus to Danish
  23. I picked up my Octavia with Bolero and bluetooth two days ago. Great car with a few annoying details, amongst these that I miss voice control,a feature that I used daily with my old Parrot. The dealer told me that it was not possible with my configuration - a strange move by Skoda not to include this in Bluetooth per default. I have voice control buttons on the Bolero and on the steering wheel that currently functions as mute buttons and shows a message that voice control is not available. WHY Skoda?? :-) that is plain stupid. Question is.. Can I somehow add voice control with vcds, sw, or hw ?
