I have a new car now, was holding onto this as a track car but I don't have the time any more Edit:- non freedom advertising.

I really don't know what is the best way forward, I have a mark 1 Octavia VRS estate. Brake discs need replacing and pads. Drivers door window mechanism needs replacing and temperature sender (which I have) needs doing too. I don't have the time to do it now. What's it worth in this condition or should I fix it then sell???? Any advice greatly appreciated

I have located the problem to the bolt that holds the arm onto the sump. Now I need to find a way to re-tap the bolt or get a new one but the thread in the hole has gone too and there is no nut to connect the bolt to sigh.....

My car is VRS, I think I need to replace it as its the fault code showing for that. I think a visit to Mr Haines might be in order!

Good Sunday morning! I have searched for this topic, I think my brain just gets lost in everything else that becomes of interest that I may need for my car! So: Does anyone have any pictures/guides for replacing the temperature sensor valve please? Any hints or tips would be great too. I am a girl see and cant just go ploughing in to change it until I am sure its going to work (I hate doing things twice!) Many thanks in anticipation.

This is a great thread, I am enjoying reading through, just starting to tart mine up a wee bit (as much as my capabitlities will allow). Am realising how bad my brakes are now and 'why'. When are you available for taking other VRSs in?

Seeing as Im a girl who doesn't know a lot about fixing cars (but im going to give it a go!) are there any diagrams, instructions, helpful hints/tips for changing anti roll bars on Octavia vrs mk1? Also temperature sensor valve. Any help greatly appreciated

In the last year: Replaced brake discs (and pads) Both anti roll bars Cam belt went the week before I had it booked in to be done so replaced the engine (easier and cheaper as all 16vs bent) exhaust (needs doing again tho as they've put the wrong one on)!! Bush kindly gave me the square back box back to see if I could get someone to weld it on to the rest of the new exhaust as they said they couldn't find a replacement hhmmmmm econ hoses both wishbones CV joints bushes Still to do: window mechanism on drivers door CD changer temperature sensor and aesthetically: Replacement cup holder Replacement rear ash tray cover Respray/lacquer rear spoiler Touch up stone chipped bonnet (always be in the front at a gravel rally!) Respray alloys wrap front grill New badge Complete valet

I really like the grill, this is a "must do", when I get other problems sorted.

Yes suspension all seems fine, Will have a look at the anti roll bar next, Although I replaced both of those last year so didn't think that they would have gone already.

How much for drivers front door (if window mechanism works) please?

Have recently replaced both the wishbones, CV joints, bushes and brake caliper pins (the latter just because they'd sheared off so had to bore them out), suspension "looks" fine, any other ideas? Its not there all the time, just when theres a slight bump in the road, or a large pot hole! Fixable or do I put up with it?

Thanks, and it won't move an inch from 1st gear but when putting foot down to overtake it just lags for a few seconds then takes off.

From yesterday, spending the whole day out in the warm sunshine fixing fences and cleaning water butts for our horses. Today, I'm going to be rubbing the goals in louse powder, watching them itch will make me giggle. Then off to work for 3 hours instead of 8, happy days :-)

Hi, please have patience if this has been posted before, I have searched with no answers. Fairly recently my Octavia VRS will just lag power for no reason but keeps going. But now it starts first time even when very cold, reverses off the drive no problem as soon as I start to pull away in 1st gear it won't do anything, it's still ticking over just no power to go. It will do this when it's cold or if it's been run for a bit. Have got a fault code for faulty temperature sensor but nothing else. I have left it idling for some time to see if it rights itself but only way to fix is turn engine off and back on again. It's annoying when overtaking!

I am looking to be proud of my Octavia, so I'm here for tips on maintenance.
