  1. I had the same with two I've owned, both times it was the boot seal. Cut some drain holes on the bottom of the seal along the bumper shut line to allow the water to drain out and that should sort it.
  2. I need to do mine too, looks like I,ve got a fun task ahead!!

  4. I've got a '58 Octavia VRS 2.0 cr tdi estate, new tyres, brakes etc 73k, service history, great car but the wife wants to learn to drive so looking to downgrade for a while! Let me know if you're interested and get you some pics etc.
  5. Had the same issue and after much searching on here and investigating on the car found that the boot seal was the problem. I cut additional holes in the rubber at each corner on the bottom .... I checked/tried all other options first as I didn't want to cut the seal but in the end after exhausting all other options cut the holes and have had a dry boot since...... it would seem for whatever reason water was entering the seal and leaking out on the inside, the additional holes let the water out on the outside instead of filling the spare wheel well.
  6. Cheers for that mate, I've broken both wrists too, the left one was shattered at the joint - ulna just two pieces but the radius was in five requiring metalwork etc. also got a neck injury that keeps giving me trouble. Slow road riding on a sports bike is unbearable after a short time hence the interest in an upright road bike, might try some bar risers before I give up on the R1 as its mega at everything and I like it
  7. Haha!... I've heard a few people say that but then they didn't like riding sports bikes. The op has had sports bikes and has done a few td's so we seem to be similar in that respect and therefore would like his opinion. Not really that struck on the FZ1N..... I like the triple engine/exhaust sound so was thinking along the lines of the speed/street triple.
  8. How do you rate the treet triple?........ thinking of getting a naked bike for the road and turn my R1 into a track bike
  9. Some good prices there, almost a shame I don't need a new lid!
  10. Yeah go whichever day you want, they do ask which day you expect to go but you are not bound in any way to go on the day you specified. I'm going Sat 5th, myself my two boys and my dad, a bit of bike related day out for the boys
  11. If you're after cbf 600, my dads got a mint condition one that he wants to sell - let me know if you're interested and I'll get the details for you, he lives in Doncaster. By the way my dad has ocd when it comes to his car and bike and it is in absolutely fantastic condition!
  12. Congrats on passing your test mate. If you're going to the bike show they have a ride out where you can have a go on a few different bikes, might be worth trying to see what type of bike you like/fits you. I passed my test in 2006, went out the next day and bought an R6 as I'd wanted one since they came out and definitely have not regretted it. Several years/bikes/trackdays later and I'm still here to tell the tale ......the only crash I've had was on a diesel slick left on a roundabout...... even the cop car that attended lost control on it! I'd say buy the bike that you want/floats your boat otherwise you'll just be wishing you'd bought something else.
  13. I find that if I go in and talk to the guy behind the desk he'll beat the internet price by a good chunk...... £40 a side for pagid disks for my VRS on the website and he did them for £35.
  14. Glad you got sorted in the end mate, and nice price for the hassle too!
  15. Sad news, the guy was a legend. My condolences to his nearest and dearest. RIP dude.
  16. At the age of 26 I did my direct access, the day after I passed I bought an R6, I've done several trackdays, had several 600's, a 750 and now an R1. Do your direct access, a 125 will bore the living daylights out of you, several people I know have done the 125 thing and hated it, then done a direct access.
  17. Minor service after a couple of td's, adjusted tyre pressures back to road settings, put mirrors and rear number plate hanger back on, tomorrow it'll get a tank of fuel, a quick blast and a wash.
  18. p.s. I'm on the 5VY R1 being hunted down at the begining by a guy on a slick shod, tyre warmed, traction controlled track bike..... I'll add more excuses as and when needed
  19. Here's a link to some footage of me trying not to fall off... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sI3pD6l8qs
  20. Had a cracking day at Blyton Park, very friendly and relaxed staff, a well run day. I was booked in inters but due to the small numbers in each group after watching peoples abilities/riding standard they made two groups novice/inters and inters/fast after a few sessions, putting myself and just about all of inters in the inters/fast group. I spent the first few sessions steadily building my speed, and by the end of the day was having a great time chasing a couple of guys who were quick and consistent. Had a good play with a guy off trackday riders forum who hopefully will have some footage for me to show you at some point.
  21. Yeah it is, and its a daft name so that makes it double fun
  22. No camera for me I'm afraid....... they cost money thats better spent on fuel, td's and tyres :p
  23. Got the day off tomorrow so booked a TD at Blyton Park.... http://www.blytonpark.co.uk/ Its a tight left handed circuit, more fun than it looks and very friendly relaxed feel about the place. Will post a report up provided I don't spanner myself!
