  1. Yup you just move the gearstick to the left for manual mode and to the right for auto. You can do it on the move
  2. The post below had similar issues might be good to contact Vrsed. I also had a porblem with stiff steering (see my post #4) http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/383067-octavia-mk3-estate-vrs-stiff-steering/#entry4482146
  3. Not sure if makes a difference (as the key is still in the same position) but the engine does not need to be running. Have you tried with the ignition on but without the engine running?
  4. I had a similar issue with stiff steering, it transpires that the sound insulation in the driver footwell got caught up in the universal joint of the steering column; might want to have look in that area just in case. Had it all replaced under warranty but was a big job as the dash and seats had to come out as the steering column passes through the mat.
  5. Even though I am set to LH traffic I am pretty sure my set-up is OK, I do not get the above warning. The beam pattern is biased towards the LH side, the cornering function is active and I never get flashed by on-coming traffic. Not sure why our cars are set-up differently.
  6. I am not sure if the issue is related to the MY of the vehicle. I set my lights to LH traffic for the correct beam pattern for UK roads; my O3 is a 63 plate.
  7. The new A4 looks good, a notch up from the Octavia. It is receiving some good press.
  8. Blacksheep kindly changed the following for me and all worked OK: Controller 09 - Central Electronics 16 - Security Access - enter 31347 10 – Adaptations (4)-Comfort illumination-Coming Home Leuchten - change to Foglight (Nebellicht) To turn off the dipped beams for CH/LH: Change the following channels: (8)-Leuchte6ABL LC5-Lichtfunktion C 6 from Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv to not active (8)-Leuchte7ABL RB1-Lichtfunktion C 7 from Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv to not active Really glad I did it to preserve the life of the xenon builbs
  9. +1 on electric seats, it also provides auto dipping of the passenger door mirror to help with those kerbs
  10. With my car, the 'boom' comes and goes (I can't find a trend yet); as a result the 1.4 TSi manual may also develop the problem. If you are sensitive to the 'boom' then you may want to re-evaluate if an O3 is the best choice. For me all the other benefits outweigh the boom problem.
  11. Not sure if this checker is correct, you can enter any VIN in it and you get an all clear e.g. try 'abcdefghi12345678'
  12. To give you some frame of reference - I have a 63 plate 2.0 DSG Elegance (11K on the clock) and get ~42 mpg (I do mainly urban journeys and drive 'spiritedly'). The 2.0 is fairly quick, faster than my previous car (a 2.5T petrol V70) and on par with my C-class 220 CDI.
  13. You may find this topic helpful: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/308674-i-didnt-know-it-could-do-that/?hl=could%20that
  14. I asked a similar question and Xpower who had the bulbs out confirmed it is a D3S. They are 35W but cannot confirm the brand. The lights are not as good as my C-class or V50 (both with Xenons) but much better than any car I have owed with halogens.
  15. I have Osram Cool Blue H8 35W bulbs in my foglights, there are equally as bright as the OEM Osram bulbs but less yellow in colour; personally I am disappointed with the 'lack of whiteness' as the bulbs were quoted as up to 4200K. If it is a white light you are after these are not the bulbs for the job; I think the MTecs suggested by themanwithnoaim be a better option if you want a white light. The bulbs I got were: http://www.powerbulbs.com/product/osram-cool-blue-intense-h8-twin
  16. In addition to ILA, with the AFS on your Xenons you also get beam pattern shaping relative to the speed and road conditions. The videos below explain these more clearly: But as M12MKD stated it is not Smart Light Assist which blanks off opposing cars thus leaving high beams on all the time, at the moment the only Skoda we can get this option is the new Superb.
  17. A UK spec SE-L should have Intelligent light assistant with high beam control incl. rain sensor and auto-dimming rear view mirror as standard; it should also have Front Assist as standard (some MY14 Elegance cars did not have Front Assist but MY16 SE-L should have Front Assist). I would recommend that you ensure that these items are listed on the order form to remove doubt and to give you more leverage when the car is delivered. The sites listing the £125 option have probably got their wires crossed with the auto dimming door mirror option. I have a race blue hatch Elegance with a beige interior, I am really happy with the combination and the heated seats work really well (heats both bottom and back cushions). If you search for posts from 'Warkman', that person has a MY16 SE-L in race blue with a beige interior and Terons and somes posts have pictures. The only things I would recommend is a steel spare wheel and possibly the sport suspension which lowers the car by 15mm as the standard car (like mine) sits too high.
  18. Superskoda sell the LED rear light cluster for the O3 estate, they might be able to help you: http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-Combi-original-Skoda-Autoas-LED-tail-light-RIGHT
  19. I like the old school blip too, reminds me of the Moss alarm I had in my Ford Escort.
  20. Chris - I would agree with pipsypreturns plus a cheque to help contribute to a standalone sat nav. Hopefully you will have the 6.5" MIB2 unit which is faster and has the bigger screen. The std sat nav is not brilliant and after 3 yrs Skoda may charge for updates also you can take the sat nav with you if you sell up. I have a MIB1 Amundsen with sat nav and given the choice I would have a MIB2 Bolero and a better stand-alone sat nav.
  21. The lack of weight/dampening in its action also annoys me, makes it feel cheap.
  22. I was hoping it was a slot for 'enhancement' (as Skoda put it), maybe for a glass style push start key like Aston Martin
  23. I think I am just re-iterating what many have said already on this topic but for the purposes of the 'poll' I would go with the the Golf if space is not important. Cost wise (with a new vehicle) the stronger residuals of a Golf mean that the cost of onwership will be similar. IMO the VW is better built, better looking and more 'desirable'. I have an Octavia because I need the space, love the toys (Xenons, sat nav, electric seats, the list goes on) and cannot afford a Golf for the price I paid for my used O3. Don't get me wrong I think my O3 is a great car for £15.5K and the spec is unmatchable by VW but if I could get a Golf estate with similar spec for the same cost of ownership I would have gone with the Golf.
  24. I would keep an eye on it as others on the forum have been having corrosion issues with their rear discs (see link below). Although it is dependant on your driving style and usage your rear disc does seem to have a lot of wear for a '15 plate car. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/366196-rear-discs-falling-apart/
