I've read so many conflicting reports but is the engine in my 2014 Rapid Spaceback a chain or belt cam engine? No problems with it but curious, read all about the VAG chain problems.

I totally thought mine was broken too, then I realised it would dim in low light. As mentioned I assume it's so you're not driving round in the dark thinking your lights are on.

Is it necessary to idle the 1.2 tsi to cool the turbo after a run? Does anyone know if the turbo is water cooled? Honest John always recommends it but I've read it's not needed if the turbo is water cooled.

Reverse is my smoothest gear change Driving it today I couldn't change without feeling like a learner again. Might need a call at a dealership.

Thanks for your replies. When it gets serviced, which shouldn't be for another year, i'll mention it. Just taken it out for a run and it's perfect when i'm boosting it a bit, only slightly noticable at low speed. I'm sure it's just me being fussy. That 1.2 engine is an engineering marvel!

Take off seems fine. Sometimes I can change perfectly but can't do it consistently which makes me think it's not a fault with the car.

Evening all, Bought a 14 plate 1.2 105 SE Rapid Spaceback today. Love the car but i can't seem to change gear without the slightest judder. Clutch seems fine, changes gear no problem. Is it just characteristic of the car and i am being too fussy? No one else notices it. Thanks!
