  1. Ive started looking into suspension again as mine are due for replacement, I cant make my mine up if i want oe setup perhaps with eibach springs or a decent springs and damper setup but ive found thsese shocks on ebay which are are supposed to be an oe quality replacement. Anyone had dealings with these or had any experience with these shocks? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-VRS-MK1-20V-TURBO-FRONT-SUSPENSION-SHOCK-ABSORBERS-SHOCKERS-RH-OE/221778284073?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Dbd8784ec90344b2dbcd9924634ee297e%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D19%26sd%3D221778283705
  2. I had similar symptoms and the fault code bank 1 running too lean, I found a big split in the pipe comming from the inlet manifold, think it was the crank case ventilation pipe? Replaced it, the light has stayed out and it drives smother now. mine was making a constant hissing noise when boosting so prehaps listen out for that.
  3. Ok, What would you say is the best option? Im on a budget and still want to keep good ride comfort but only want the minimum drop of 25-30mm. I have read mixed reviews of JOM Bluelines, some say they are good, others say not, VMAXX was another i looked at.
  4. Thanks for the reply Damian, You say i would have to go for the cupra R kit, are the axle weights similar to the VRS and what price do you have these at?
  5. My suspension is shot and now has the handling of a boat so ive been looking into some replacements and ive read good reviews about the Apex RDX coilovers. They seem to cover all aspects of comfort and sports stance which im looking for although i would only want the min drop of 30mm. Has anybody had any experiences with these and at £480 they seem to be a reasonable price.
  6. Mine happened to be the brake light switch faulty which was sticking, also drained my battery with 2-3 days. Fitted a new one for about 8 quid and its been fine since.
  7. Mine ended up being a faulty brake light switch, it was draining my battery between 2-3 days.
  8. My last service was done about 3 months ago with so vw spec oil called Triple QX and there oil filter, previous to that im pretty sure it stayed topped up but ive read this oil is ok to use for the vag engines but maybe starting to wonder if it ma be a tad thin hence why its using a bit? Would short trips and cold starts use more oil i dont do much more than 50-60mls a week?
  9. Ive noticed my Mk1 Octavia VRS is using some oil, about 200ml per 200 miles so based on this i will be using 1ltr of oil every 1000mls! Does anyone elses vrs use this much oil? Ive looked for leaks but cant see any major problems and theres no smoke on startup or boost? I had a Leon Cupra 180 a few years back which is the same engine (AUQ) and dont remember that using as much.
  10. Mine does this but doesnt flatten the battery although i did previously have a problem with the battery going flat over a few days which turned out to be the brake light switch sticking on.
  11. How much for rear springs and dampers? Thanks
  12. Im looking at buying some oem shocks as mine are shot but im having problems finding the right ones as a lot state they will 'fit the vrs'. I rang the my local main dealer today and they wanted £115 each shock so dont think ill be buying those at that price! Are the Fourplus you mentioned specifically for the vrs model?
  13. Whats the milage on the shocks front and rears please?
  14. Just an update, ive now fitted my H&R springs to the standard dampers but just the fronts at the moment as im undecided if i like the ride or not plus i never had time to do the rears today, To be honest the ride is more comfortable than i thought although quite a bit firmer but sits really nice with about a 15mm gap between the tyre and wheel arch, it has improved the turn in 10 fold it feels alot tighter and has better grip than before but i am comparing it to springs that were the wrong springs fitted.Overall im quite pleased but started looking for pot holes already! I think my dampers may be due for replacement maybe within the year so i looked at bilstien, a set of B4's, front and rear on ebay at the moment for £173, What are your thoughts on these? Are they an improvement over OEM dampers?
  15. Well ive bit the bullet and ordered some 20mm H&R springs and should be here for the weekend so we'll see how we go with them, if im not happy then i may have to consider some uprated dampers. Thanks for the input guys.
  16. Are yours on standard springs and dampers Yellowcar? Im torn between H&R which ive now found for £130 delivered from Germany or just replace the fronts and keep the standard ride height and comfort. Will i lose much comfort when fitting the H&R's?
  17. Thanks kentphill that would make sense as there is a 20mm difference between mine and yours so yes you could be right someone has put the incorrect springs on.
  18. The handling is not all that bad in fact for the size of the car i think it handles very well, better than my Cupra i had but it does tend to try to spin the wheels if i pull off too quickly especially when its damp but yes it doesn't quite feel right and to me defo doesnt sit right there is a clear gap at the front that i can get my hand in sideways.
  19. Right i have measured the distance from the centre of the centre cap to the arch and the front is 390mm and the rear is 350mm,
  20. Ok thanks for the input guys not sure what im going to do yet but I noticed that the front end of the car is sitting higher than the rear so ive had a look at the springs to see if the rears had a snapped coil, but they dont but i have noticed new springs on the fronts which are made by KYB, the part number is RC1703 so ive googled it and they seem to fit for seat leon, golf v5 and octavia 1.9 tdi and doesnt mention the VRS model unless im missing something?? so has someone fitted the wrong springs hence the difference in ride heights from front to rear? I have read somewhere that the VRS standard springs are dealer only, is this correct?
  21. Hi, Im new to the forum but been browsing for some time now but finally decided to join up so hi to everyone here. I bought a Silver Octavia Mk1 VRS back in Feb this year, ive had a few niggles including the central locking issue when the door deadlocked but managed to sort that out myself luckly just by banging the mechanism. Im looking into lowering springs but dont want to go stupidly low which is why i like the sound of the H&R springs which supposedly lower the VRS model by 20mm and still keeping some ride comfort on standard dampers. My question is has anyone dealt with these from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/29124-1-H-R-Federn-fur-Skoda-Octavia-RS-Lim-Kombi-Typ-1U-2WD-nur-2WD-nur-RS-/300932416770?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item4610f84502 they seem quite cheap considering most other places prices are between £165-£185. Are the genuine and will the fit the VRS Model?
