Very helpful post, I had the same problem, now fixed! It is worth checking that the plastic catch attached to the cable is: a) repositioned the right way to catch the flap b pushed far enough back in to catch the flap once in place I used some strong tape the hold the spring loaded catch in place. Seems to work fine. This has foxed three garages including a dealer. Guess they couldn't be bothered. Thanks

Just got a TDI Fabia, it is a revelation after the sluggish but v v reliable SDI I had before. Here hoping the reliability is just the same.

On my second Fabia, SDI now TDI, had the SDI 3 years 90 K miles no problems encountered. Looking forward to less miles in the TDI but more fun.
