  1. Hi. Does anyone know the steering rack part number for Skoda Octavia mk3 1.6 TDI 105 BHP manual model Mark 3.. Getting 3 different answers from Google.. 5q0 909 144r or 5q0 909 144p and 5q2 423 055g... Any help appreciated
  2. Hi, the airbag light has just come on had it checked by the local garage and showing the code 'b13bcf2 multiple collision brake - no function' anybody got any ideas. tried Googling it and it's showing as faulty slip ring. Also checked the plug under the passenger side seat and that seems ok, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. hi, thanks norsko, checked the bilstein site, and its still confusing , they're showing a different number for the original shocks (5q0 513 049 ff), which on mine are (5q0 512 013 fq). if it is a case of just different stiffness levels i could fit them as i want a softer shock absorber or is the actual physical size different?..
  4. hi, anyone tried the bilstein b4 (19-230542) rear shocks on 1.6 tdi 105bhp with standard suspension, i'm getting mixed messages from suppliers, some saying they'll fit others saying not, don't want to order then have to send them back.. thanks in advance..
  5. thanks mrAdamwood, will try that on monday , im thinking of having the timing belt and waterpump changed anyway so maybe they might give me a goodwill gesture,
  6. hi, just had my octavia 1.6tdi 105bhp serviced from a local vw specialist as its out of warranty now, its done 83k and the garage has told me its got a oil leak from the crank seal, Is this normal to have to change it this early on a 2014 car?, as its out of warranty by 3 months i dont think id have any case against skoda uk..all servicing was done with skoda upto 60k, thanks in advance for any advice
  7. hi, my november 2013 octavia mk3 1.6tdi is just out of warranty, just my luck the heater blower has packed in just when its needed most, it is working intermittently so not sure if its the blower or the heater resistor, any suggestions for what to look out for before i order any parts, is this a common fault cos i dont think the heater should need replacing after only 3 years, other than this have had 3 years painless motoring,,,thanks in advance
  8. hi, im trying to order some new front discs for my 2013 (5e3) octy 1.6tdi 105...ive bee non europarts and ebay, some are showing the discs to be 279.9mm others 288mm, is there anywhere in the manual or service book to check which size mine has, i have done the vehicle compatibilty check on some websites by entering the reg number but they show both sizes available for the car, last resort is taking wheel off and just measuring them, thanks in advance...
  9. glosrich, its more like the second pic but really tiny, barely noticeable. ill try to T cut them out see if that makes a difference thanks for the replies
  10. hi ive just had my octy 1.6tdi (nov 2013) back from dealers after service and noticed after they had valeted it that there are tiny microscopic black dots in the rear quarter and rear door only, i have tried googling this issue and it seems like it can happen after a cheap respray job, is it possible lookers skoda (manchester) have sold me a damaged repaired car (didnt show on hpi report) or is this normal, i never really noticed it before even when ive waxed it a couple of times a year....thanks
  11. not sure gabbo, ive read on forums thats its online only now but my car from 2014 came with a service book and schedule, it might have been changed for 2015...
  12. same here. always keep all reciepts for any work carried out..
  13. stuski im with you on this one, i called several times to arrange a service and was told first that i needed a oil service only then it was a major service due in september but finally was told it would be an interim service, basically im getting an oil and filter change with a couple of extra checks thrown in over just the basic minor service, no other filters are changed. I understand the need to have servicing done at the dealers but sometimes question what work is actually done by them. if you can do it yourself using original oem parts supplied by them that way you know exactly whats been done. ive used specialist garages in the past on cars ive owned and never had problems with buyers of the cars asking for main dealer service history. i would be tempted to go specialist again except this time its a nearly new car with warranty. once the warranty runs out ill be back with specialist or do it myself....
  14. hi. im due my service now on 1.6 tdi cr se and was searching for alternatives to skoda dealers servicing, came across servicingstop who pick up and drop off free off charge , full service for £122.89 compared to £269 from skoda, anyone had any dealings with them and would if effect the warranty as all servicing is done to manufacturers recommendations, thanks
