  1. It boosts and pulls but I looked at the stats and the TT weight in at approx 1.5t so it's no light weight. And yes I appreciate the above 4 thing. I have driven and owned lots of quick cars over the years inc sti type r Impreza. Focus st 225 stage 2. Etc and I'm really impressed with the Fabia. I know it probably feels faster than it is but the speedo doesn't lie...
  2. Hi just thought I'd post my experience on here. I currently have a hybrid vrs running 230bhp 340lb ft. I have just bought a mk1 Audi TT 225. On test drive it felt absolutely flat. It was boosting but I did expect a little more. I'm even considering a rolling road to see what power it's making. Has anybody else had a similar experience jumping out of a tuned Fabia into something else and feeling somewhat underwhelmed???
  3. Hi all Tried to find the correct seat base bolts for mk1 Fabia vrs. Could anybody on here send a link for the correct bolts needed. Thanks in advance for your replies
  4. Anybody know where I can source a tin from?? I'm after OE green to freshen up my clippers. Can't find any on my searches eBay etc
  5. Great comments. Common sense needs to be applied a little. I even heard of insurers not paying out due to a different set of 6 x 9 speakers!!!
  6. Since 1997 until now I have owned 20 or so cars. My top 5 are 1. Clio 1.8 16 valve. (Valver) loved this car. 95 m reg williams blue with leather. 2. Impreza sti type r. 350bhp special car 3. Clio 172 phase 1. Owned 2 of these . one in year 2000 brand new and one now. Fantastic cars 4. Fabia vrs x2 great cars currently own once now. 5. Nova 1.4sr first ever car back in 1997. At the time it was pretty special
  7. I wonder how many of us are actually covered 100% by the book. I have declared all of my performance enhancing (power mods) and brakes, wheels and suspension and still feel like an assessor could still scrutineer my car and deem it uncovered. Anybody any experience or possibly been caught out for not declaring mods and anybody willing to admit to not declaring??
  8. Less of the wise cracks I'm only 5 minutes away from you!!!
  9. Thanks for your comments. The 3 piece clutch kit is £136 so not too bad. Might just get a Sachs and be done with it.
  10. Totally my fault before I get abuse. I attempted a second gear launch in my hybrid vrs running 230/342lb ft. Clutch was a luk dmf and luk clutch kit. Prior to this the clutch as been spot on for 14k miles or so since new. The clutch is now slipping on high boost. I'm currently trying to drive steady for a few hundred miles to see if it beds back in. Ques. If the clutch is goosed what part in particular is likely to need replacing if not all. Any advice will be kindly appreciated. Regards
  11. Thanks that seems reasonable. Any ideas on the clutch he uses. I.e is it branded??
  12. Got a price for £750 fitted dmf. Or £700 fitted smf. Capable of 420lb ft. Only problem is due to these guys being a new set up is there is only one car proven @ 10k fault free
  13. Just had a look on their site and the reviews seem good. I have sent them a message for some prices. Thanks for the tip as they are only in Leeds. I'll let you know their reply with prices
  14. Same kind of money as the darkside kit then. It appears I'm not going to be able to do this on a budget. Thanks for your input
  15. Thanks for input. I've looked at cg motorsports and the best one they do is a stage 3 which is good for a quoted 40% power increase. This would be no good. I decided to go smf as I was advised there is less to go wrong and I'm not too fussed about the noise, plus they can take more power
  16. Hi folks I could really do with some advice here. And any suggestions feel free to post links to actual items so I can debate my options. Bought a 05 plate vrs and driven all the way to Edinburgh for it from West Yorkshire. Generally very happy with it asides an mot failure due to no cat.. anyway, The car is running a turbo dynamics md376 turbo and has a graph for 229bhp and 342lb ft of torques. The car is on 113k miles and had a luk v3 clutch @99k which I can vouch was working really well until I decided to do a second gear launch!!!! I know I'm so angry with myself as the clutch is now slipping at any kind of boost what so ever. I was advised the clutch may bed back in however this doesn't seem to bee the case. So now I'm looking for a clutch and somebody to fit. It needs to be OK to go in my daily driver and more importantly able to cope with the above torque comfortably. So far I have had a quote from darkside @1140 supplied and fitted. Sachs smf good for 400lb ft. This sounds like a lot of money to me and a really expensive mistake. I need to go brand new for the guarantee. Any cheaper alternatives folks.??? Eagerly awaiting responses
  17. Yes I like to experience different makes and models. With the missus now expecting I'm keeping this one. Or at least that's the plan
  18. Hi all A couple of years ago I purchased a black Vrs and owned it for approx a year before I passed it on. I don't keep cars long as I genuinely like all makes and models. In the last 12 months or so since selling the Vrs I have had the following and not in this order. Focus st 225 with dreamscience mod c approx 280 - 300 bhp Bmw e36 323 m sport touring Golf mk4 1.8 turbo. K03s fmic etc 222bhp Subaru wrx. Vf35 turbo fmic etc. 320+ bhp Clio 172 phase 1 sport (still own) Rover 620ti Plus one or two more not worth mentioning. Back to the Vrs. I really enjoyed the first one as it offered a quick turn of pace helped by a pd150 turbo. Uprated clutch and a remap. I took it down to the pod and managed a 15.4 second quarter. Had a really good day and that made me more fond of the car. He it is So due to current circumstances and about to start a family I need something with 5 doors and all the credentials I.e Good mpg Pretty quick Easy to find/ source parts I spent weeks looking at every conceivable option, everything from a 5 door Megane to a Lexus IS 200. Ended up looking at Fabias again and had my eye on one for a few weeks with lots of upgrades. After a conversation with the owner (a gent in his mid 40s) I decided to take the plunge and do a 450 mile round trip to view. So having been happy with the car I got the train the following day on a one way ticket. This is the car in question. Apologies for poor pic for now as I haven't had the time to get some snaps organised. I'm over the moon with it. Needs a few jobs doing but it has got lots going for it with regards to maintenance and modifications. It is my intention to keep and make mint so keep your eyes peeled for a full write up and progress in the project thread. Thanks for reading
  19. Thanks for clearing that one up as I have read about the failures with the cam chain. I'm sure it's only a small percent however
  20. Could somebody also confirm tsi vs tfsi. Am I right In thinking tsi = cambelt Tfsi = cam chain?? What year was the camchain introduced?? Many thanks for your replies in advance
