  1. I can certainly vouch for the VW Common Rail diesels as I've been running my Tiguan with one for 8 months. I've come back from a 200 mile journey in it today mixed driving and achieved 41MPG. I basically emptied all the associated baby paraphanalia out of the back, pumped up the tyres to the correct pressures, so I'm getting a few MPG more. Think I can convince the missus to sell the Smart, give her the Tiguan, then chuck in a grand on top and buy myself another Fabia VRs for the motorway hack. On reflection I'd be stupid to sell the Tiguan it really is a great car to drive, so I can then have the best of both worlds by pairing it up with another VRs. Need one with Xenons though.... Des
  2. Well I drove one today it's a very nice drive, quiet, refined, access to the rear and rear space is quite good, more than adequate for my young family. However the bootspace is rubbish, less that a Fabia. So the hunt continues........ BMW 1 series - may drive a 123d. Octavia Esate CR TDI Golf 6 CR TDI Des
  3. The 1 series has crossed my mind, efficient dynamics make a whole lotta sense, surprises me that other manufacturers are so far behind BMW. Shoulda just held onto my Fabia, stupid stupid stupid! Des
  4. I'm looking at trading in my Tiguan for a Mini Clubman D in an attempt to drive down my insurance and general running costs and MPG, which currently sits around 38mpg. Not too bad for a Diesel auto 4wd but with fuel prices slowly creeping up again I'm finding that I tend to use my wifes Smart car more often than not and who can blame me when I get 63mpg out of it, especially with petrol at 10p less per litre. Will the clubman cope with a family though? 1 baby on the way and my 2.5 year old son? Cheers Des
  5. He deserves to be shot! Truely horrendous effort. Think he crow-barred the MFD in there. Des
  6. You can actually use 32gb SDHC cards in the RCD510, basicaly the same unit minus navigation and the HDD. Des
  7. I've seen plenty of guys on here with their SS Leathers and these are by far the best. I love the green theme and the double diamond stitching looks great. Good job. Des
  8. Yeah they are pretty bad, very Halfords and instant ebay fodder. I think they look pure tack, much prefer the original lights. However if he likes them he should keep them. BADGELESS for me. Des
  9. Gets the hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooge thumbs up from me Des
  10. Think you purchased my old VRs?

Xenon's, Cruise, six disc CD Chasnger, side airbags, OEM arm rest, crappy glue on chrome dials :)

Still, I wish I kept the car absolutely loved it and would love to hear you opinions and what you have done to it :)

    Cheers

  11. The camera comes as standard with the RNS510 on the Tiguan. So I'd expect it to be the same for the Superb.
  12. Further correction. The Tiguan models 09 above get the parking display front/rear appear on the rcd510 and rns510. When you specify the rns510, which comes with a rearview camera you get an actual video display when reversing. Des
  13. The light images/graphics on the airbag off indicator have changed slightly from an 07/08 model. Des
  14. And she did me proud. I eeeeked out 573 miles from a full tank of diesel. The best yet and just when I'm trading her in for a Tiguan which I pick up tomorrow at 4pm. The Roomster has been totally flawless, like my previous Fabia VRs and I will be back, maybe for the Fabia vrs Mk3 I'll still use the forum though as it's an excellent resource and I like the community spirit :0) that and I have a few items to sell..lol Des
  15. 130mph!, hope you didn't do that on a public road.....
  16. Cable length does not matter. I find the sound quality is excellent. Make sure in the sound/menu settings you are using the highest output for your AUX input and that the volume is up at a resonable level on your iPod. Des
  17. Yup, I agree. No good nancying around, just give it somes beans from the start, obviously only once the engine has warmed up. The 1.9tdi is pretty much bullet proof. Des
  18. The price of the magazine reflects the content quality, you can pay 40p more for Autocar but even that contains garbage at times. Most of the time these magazines don't even test drive the cars, they rely on previous information or data from a German sister magazine, that when translated is even more off the mark. Des
  19. I've driven the Tiguan CDTDI auto and the main reason I ordered one was becasue of the quietness and refinement of this engine, clatter under load, they must be confused with another car or once again they wrote a report on a petrol Tiguan but based their diesel statistics on a Golf with the old PD140 tdi as many other magazines have. Almost tempted to cancel the Tiguan and buy a Oct Estate CRTDI with DSG Des
  20. The roof and the rear windows look to be all of the same tint, maybe the roof is slightly darker though but it is difficult to tell. Des
  21. According to the changes in spec of all VW models, all cars with parking sensors and the RNS510 get a display similar to the one found the Octavia/Roomster/Fabia etc.... http://www.volkswagenfleetfirst.co.uk/resources/res.aspx/eCommsAttachments/files/20818/20743_AL_2208_Volkswagen_2009_model_year_changes.pdf Cheers Des
  22. I think the MPG is great, we all know the MFA can be optimistic. I do a 35 mile journey in the morning along the M4 to Reading and 55-60mph cruising yields 60+ MPG, relistically you can expect 560 miles from a full tank. Des
  23. Don't find any probs with mine and the climate does it job perfectly, even when I had a recorded 35c recorded last year. I know I'd much rather have the car with the roof than without it. Des
  24. Stick with your VRs or wait for the new VRs due in 2009. The noise is the one thing that bugs me with the 1.9tdi 5 speed. The Fabia VRs has much better NVH levels, especially at cruising speeds. Des
  25. That looks damn smart. The car looks complete. Des
