Guys, A bit of a newbie question here, but if someone can shed some light it would be much appreciated before I buy the equipment. Currently have a Bolero head unit, with Bluetooth module under the drivers seat, however the module is on rSAP compatible. So I am going to upgrade it. I have Maxi-Dot and a MFSW fitted. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me, would it be a straight swap to upgrade to the newer module? The model I am looking at is the 7P6 one. Further to this, I am also looking at upgrading the head unit from the standard bolero to a Columbus RNS510 Sat Nav unit which is for sale on here. Would they both just simply Plug & Play, or would they require coding to the car for them to function correctly? I'm getting mixed answers by reading some forums so can anyone give me a definitive answer please? Also, would the new head unit mean I need to source a new surround? Thanks in advance for any help! :-)

You got a picture of this? -
Would this be plug & play? I know people ask this all the time for head units, but I can never keep up. I have a Bolero at the moment, and has all Bluetooth module and Microphone etc already present. I have the MFSW and MaxiDot display also. The current Bluetooth module needs upgrading as it only supports rSAP and thought I might upgrade the head unit whilst I'm at it.

Would this be beneficial on a 2009 FL vRS TDI with the DSG box? The pedal is the same, but not too sure if it would improve the car or not?

I will be sure to look out for you. I work on Sheffield Road, just off the Alhambra Roundabout.

Maxidot phone setting - "Premium or Handsfree" ?
JGMason93 replied to bertone's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks a lot mate. I have a FL 59 Plate, and it has Maxi Dot built in already. But how do I know if it needs a newer one? Sorry for all the questions, it's just I spoke to Skoda and they quoted me major money to upgrade the system to work with an iPhone. -

I can't get my iPhone 6 paired to the system at all... I don't have an option to choose between Premium or Handsfree. I believe my system only offers RSAP also, as it will pair immediately to Android devices. -

Hi Damo, Sorry I did not respond last night, decided bed was the best idea of the night. So I have just gone out to the car now, and first thing I did was remove the wiper fuse and piggy back from that slot.... Worked first time!! Camera came straight on and went of 3-5 seconds after ignition. Perfect!! Appreciate your help Damo. -

I copied the photo you posted of your fuse box. Switch Live is the first slot from the left, and Perm Live is the 5th slot from the right.?. -
Discreet Dash Cam Install
JGMason93 replied to Metblackrat's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hi Damo, Sorry to bother you - but something is frustrating me. Attempted to install the camera today, and everything went perfect until I came to turn it on.... For some reason the camera is not automatically turning on when I turn the car on. I have to press the button on the end, and then after I've turned the car off, it will not turn off again. The only way to turn the camera off is to physically remove the fuse cable and then it will switch off (not ideal). Any ideas why it could be doing this? I have followed the diagrams and photo's on this post. The only difference I noticed was my perm live slot already had a 20amp fuse in the slot, unlike other installs. But I do not see this should make a difference. Thanks for any help, much appreciated. James -

That sounds fantastic, noticed you were local but did not want to be a little cheeky. I'm new to the whole world of forums and owners clubs etc. Appreciate your offer  -

Dashcam Footage - What would you do?
JGMason93 replied to gazpot0111645's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I cannot say I am shocked to see this - I think this confirms a lot of suspicion in regards to leaving our cars with garages. Mine has been in for a DPF, and was with them for 4 days... I don't have a dashcam yet, but I would love to know what they got up to with it, as all the dials and logs were reset prior to handing it back to me. A random question OP, and I do apologise for not entirely relating to your post, but what camera are you using? There is so many to choose from, and reading the forums on here don't exactly help with my decision making process. But I like your footage, and the fact the registration is shown in the corner. -
Hi, Would this be a simple plug & play replacement for my Bolero unit? I find the Bolero quite limited to functions, and it has the Bluetooth module installed, but says my iPhone 6 is not compatible with it. So looking for something better. Apologies if you believe this to be a rather dumb question - this is my first Skoda which I only got yesterday...

I already have his name and address from the service manual - but I don't know if he would appreciate a random letter from someone who purchased his old car. -

That's great. Thanks very much, I was wondering how I made it appear without a link. Now I have my answer. Appreciate your help guys. -
Hi guys, Thought I'd made a quick post here and say hello and create an account to this forum. I bought the Octy Estate yesterday, it originated from Sussex and was bought up to Yorkshire, where I then purchased it. It's a MK2 2009(59) Candy White DSG Hopefully it will keep me entertained for a while. The previous owner was also a member of this forum, so if anyone knows him - be sure to tell me who it was. Would be great to be in contact. Anyway, here's a link to a picture of the car: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7jmyhz3y6wbbbv6/2015-05-23%2020.39.25.jpg?dl=0 Thanks again :-)
