  1. That's a usable link! Really good tip My whife told me we still had an insurance policy for this car! Wonderful news, I thought we had ended that due to the cars age. Now I only have to pay less than £300 and get the job done by a profesional Thanks anyway and that plastic welding tip will be used for an other project
  2. It's worth the cost of repairing, no doubt. It's a 2007 and in good condition. But as always, keeping cost down is good. She is in tears, I'm trying to tell her it's only a car and these things happen, but she feels like an idiot.
  3. Well, the scrapyards i Sweden shurly knows how to earn money. And on top of that, there aren't that many scrapyards around. There will be either a 500 km drive to get all parts or transport costs of twice the material cost. The bonnet is the worst part to get transported, but even the bumper is a bit tricky, in right coulour there is only one in Sweden, and it's a 550 km drive one way... Worst case scenario, I'll just put a sticker on the crack.
  4. Well one more thing, the colour code for my car, I guess it's 9202 from what I can read out of the service manual. Am I right? The wing part I can get hold of is in colour 9102 so probably I'll have to do some painting and that will not be a sucsess I think
  5. Excuse my bad English... I had my 16-year old daughter for some practice driving. As she turned 16 today it was a premiere tour. She did splendid, but when she tried to park the car... Well I had been on the edge all the time but now probably feeling a bit on the safe side. So when she forgot to hit the brakes, I was a bit slow with the handbrake and well... Bumper, Headlight, Wing and Bonnet was dented by a light post. Even the windshield washer fluid container (is it called that in English?) got rupted or tored. The wing replacing seems to be, well not easy but doable. http://www.mediafire.com/file/dwyz09tvplj/elemente_caroserie.pdf section 50-2 seems to cover it all, exept from how to make the glue or what ever is fixing it to the body. And what to use to "glue" it back when replaced. A used one is mine for roughly £80 The Bumper... I guess I won't teplace it, just glue back that little chip and maby cover it with some paint. The headlight... there were some plastic mounting parts that got damaged. Both on the headlight it self and in the housing. I guess I'll have to replace the lot, but I cant find a guide. A used one is mine for roughly £80 The Bonnet... Some pliers and paint and it'll have to do, getting a new one isn't an option. The washer fluid container... I've found no instructions what so ever on the net. But a used one is mine for roughly £15 If you have any good tips or links it would be super if you could share them with me. Thanks in advance
  6. I need to know what version of fabia I'm drivning, is it a 6y or a 5j? The 6y was produced untill 2007 and 5j started its line 2007. My car is manufactured 2007-12... I've got some tech specs Motor 47 kWh 1198 cm3
  7. My mirrors has gotten so tainted they no longer work. My dealer wants 120€ for a matching pair. Thats a bit much in my opinion. Is there a way to know what the original part number for theese mirrors are? My car is a left hand stearing car since I live in Sweden.

  9. I checked the function this morning. It wasn't that cold today, 18,5ºC The flap was in it's "down" position letting warmest air in to the engine. I heated it up and when my IR-thermometer said 35º the flap moved. I cooled it down by using liquid air (I guess it's propane, it's used to clean out dusty computers) when holding such a can up side down it spits out a liquid gas, cold enough to move the flap again. I guess it works swell =)
  10. Very nice picture! Looks like exactly the same solution. And very smart done too. No electronics or sensors, just mechanics =)
  11. I'll let the car sit over night so it's well below 15º to see if the flap is movable (if I understood you right about whats supposed to happen in different temperatures). Mornings here in Sweden are quite cold...
  12. Yes! That was it =) I guess this part is supposed to direct an air flow over some sort of thermostatic device that regulates the amount of cold air let in to the engine. The mystery part was broken though, a clip for holding it in place was damaged, but some glue did the trick. Thanks a lot to you all! =)
  13. =) That's my favourite store! The mystery part was inside the red marking inside that tube.
  14. There are some numbers on the bottom of air filter compartment 03E129607 (N) FZ3 Spain 446 092 85 (912) >PP-GF30< >PA6-GF30< Here are a few more pic's of the mysterious part
  15. OK, would it be better if I post this question in MK1 forum instead? I assumed it was a mk2 because it was bought in mars 2008, just now when looking it up more in detail I realized it was a 2007 make.
  16. I'll try to get the most figures right... SKODA FABIA COM AMB 1,2 year 2007 mon 12 engine kw hp ltr cyl mounting time model BME 47 64 1,20 3 12/04 - 12/07 FABIA EU4/EU2DDK My wife just drove off for a shopping spree so I can't get the serial no for the filter just yet
  17. It's the filter in that plastic thing on top of the engine. I've looked all over but there is no place inside the plastic compartment for the air filter where this piece fits.
  18. I was changing air filter, when I opened the air filter compartment this fell out: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO0hQ9h44L9YhFtSHBgS2BC6bVn68f57z0L0PvlBl6Bt_WOSnxsYoNuty4aMt5_7Q?key=TzdRczdaUzYtLXpVWmw5a2hVNmlLQlpMZmczUEVR I can't find a place for it, should I worry? And what is it for?
  19. Here is a more appropriate version of the first pic if any mod would like to replace it.
  20. Hahaha! Saw my little mistake in pic #1 now... "Gear ****fer" Sorry, I did not intend any foul language, perhaps I'm little dyslexic.
  21. Tools I used: ring wrench size 18mm for bolts holding starter motor socket wrench (or if its called ratchet in english, i dont know) 13 mm socket for nuts holding the cables you will need an extender probably 15 cm, the lower nut is hard to reach screwdriver torx bit 20 Hammer 50 cm plank
  22. Some short tips... How to know what part you should order: On the starter there is a big sticker with the parts number. This seems like a standard part that is common in various VAG-related brands. My starter has this number: 02T911023S Price and where to oder: For me this starter was about 62£ including shipping. Got it from a marketplace for used parts, in sweden this is bildelsbasen.se, but I'm sure you have something similar in your country, if not. Then just forget about repairing cars and get set up such a marketplace, there is a lot of money in that business. =)
  23. That guide was mostly working for me. When i got the 2 bolts holding the starter motor loose the lower one was easy to get out, but the top one was really impossible. The "Gear shifter" was the problem. There is a nut holding it down, but still it is stuck. Put in the 5:th gear, then you get in i the top position. But still there is not room enough to get the bolt out. With a piece of wood, we reached up to the "Gear shifter" from beneath, then we gave the wood piece a few hits with a hammer, enough to lift the "Gear shifter" about 5 millimeters. But be gentle, there could be damage to the gearbox if you hit it too hard. In the picture you see the "Gear shifter" with the nut unscrew. It seems like there is only one way to get that "Gear shifter" back in again if you would hit it out of its place. I made a small mark om both the dark bolt and the "Gear shifter" so that I could align them if that metal stick would come off totally when i hit it from underneath.
