  1. Hi everyone. Ive now sold my octavia vrs minus engine. Id purchased it a year old from a car supermarket. After four years it died. All I was offered by skoda was 3500 for new engine .that price was a loyalty discount owing id had four previous skodas. Would I have rights about claiming against them to have got the repairs for free even though I bought externally. Many thanks.
  2. he said because you dont know what caused it and it could therefore happen again and after hearing on here how everybody elses died mine done exactly same thing! just spoke with skoda 3.6k new engine, 500 labour plus vat with 25percent off!! Not bad If I hadnt already got it elsewhere and had engine on way. I'd of had guarentee with skoda too. gutted in a way. ah well!! At least I've found the forum.....too bloody late though!!! Story of my life!! Thanks for reply.
  3. I am in a very similar situation. I take it that was for a reconditioned engine?
  4. Thanks!! I am on the case!! Awaiting a response!! This is my fourth octavia in a row.....Stupidly upgraded from a 2006 vrs to the new model in 2011....havent heard anything bad about the perfectly good car I got rid of!! I have no skoda service Hx and the car isnt at a skoda garage at the minute. I am still going down the faulty tensioner avenue with them. Fingers xed!! Thanks.
  5. help needed please!! having read the ccza issues regarding the tensioner I have just asked my mechanic and he says perhaps my tensioner was okay?? However it sounds as though my car suffered identical fate as others. Tryed to start car and out of blue it wouldnt start. fsh not dealer. 62k. no issues atall. facing 3k bill to put in recon engine. any ideas anybody please!! I have no clue about cars am just a humble ambulance paramedic looking for some help please!! I did have cause to take the car into skoda 2013 in warranty cos of revving when i wasnt touching accelerator. might this be relevant? I have my whole engine ordered already cos the mechanic is saying apart from the valves there isnt any visible damage but the cause is totally unknown.Urghh!! I didnt buy the car new either as ive read its under 6years old.
  6. I have the dreaded ccza engine. I am only just reading this forum now. I have ordered a new engine (recon) and am awaiting it's delivery. My car is not at a skoda dealer. I rang two who didn't mention any known fault after i TOLD THEM I HAD BENT VALVES. my mechanic has said he saw nothing wrong apart from the valves and hence advised new engine. Please help!! It happened completely randomly on starting car. no noise no nothing. just wouldnt start. i had cause to take car to dealer in 2013 for occasional revving whilst parked and i wasnt touching accelerator. had it serviced at german motorworks and most recently at kwik fit. Am i doing wrong thing getting new engine? What help may skoda give me? Any help please from a humble paramedic who know's nothing about cars!! HUGE THANKS
  7. HELP!!!! I know nothing about cars atall!! my 2010 petrol vrs just died. 62k fsh. mechanic saying valves bent with no obvious cause so have paid for a recon engine 1.6k and it's on it's way. it happened after i'd parked the car with no hint or clue. running fine. is this the tensioner issue i have read about? I did have an issue in 2013 and took it back in warranty it was a revving issue once id started the car. I had had it serviced at a german motorworks place which is where it is now but unfortunately my last service was at kwik fit. the belt had not been replaced. any advice?? I just emailed skoda but would i have a chance of any help? It gunna cost me 2.7k in total. Any help would be appreciated!!
