  1. My dealer (Bulgaria) told me that: "Activation key for SmartLink will be offered as original Skoda accessory. There isn't a official release date yet."
  2. My dealer (in Bulgaria) told me that the cars are locked for changes 1month prior build week. Unfortunately SmartLink was announced here when I had just two weeks left so I wasn't capable to change the order but a colleague of mine successfully added SL after the order.
  3. I have just received my MY16 Octavia and my Bolero (MIB II) says that I can activate by code but it looks like that's not the case (reading the topic here). Does somebody have any information what's the situation with VW? As far I understand SmartLink is called "App Connect" there I guess that there are same system?
  4. Thanks for the clarification, Domhnall! I really got confused in all -Link suffixed names. The wider variety of options provided by Android Auto makes way more sense.
  5. Glad to hear that enabling SL is just a matter of sofware update. Just to point out some restrictions - Google maps is not MirrorLink-ready, which means that as soon as the car is moving it won't work. Basically there are not so many apps that are MirrorLink compatible some due to legal and(or) safety reasons i.e. you can't mirror the video player when driving. As for the navigation - there is one certified app - Cygic which you have to pay to use (not sure about the price). The list of available apps can be found here: http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/experience/product-features/smartlink/ From my perspective you should clarify what you want to use on the car screen and what apps are available in order to make wise decision. PS: I believe that in the near future more and more apps will be ML-ready.
  6. About MirrorLink - if I understand correctly MirrorLink includes different car-to-phone connectivity standarts (MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) - so its broader term I guess. But in the configurator I am able to add SmartLink only (no option called MirrorLink)
  7. Hello Guys, Greetings from Bulgaria! I am waiting my first skoda - the build week is 25 hence MY16 model. I am wondering if any of you has an information whether the SmartLink can be retrofitted after delivery. Because when I tried to add this feature couple of weeks ago my dealer wasn't aware what is this and now after this spec is finally available in our configurator (since yesterday) he told me that my car is locked for changes and I can't add it. With the regards of retrofitting - he didn't know whether possible and gave me the number of some other colleague (some "tech" guy I suppose) to discuss this. He also wasn't very helpful but he explained to me that it's not just a software upgrade or some hardware "plug-in" but rather that the MIB2 with SmartLink is different unit than the one without. Does somebody know more details about this? PS: I am trying to write directly to Skoda to get more details but I can't find some central customer contact mail (only dealers) Best Regards, Nikolay
