  1. I’m afraid I can’t remember anymore. I got rid of the car about 2 years ago so can’t look. At a guess I imagine I put a bolt in it. I didn’t do any coding and didn’t have any lights on the dash.
  2. Made it Set off with zero faults and driving fine, couple of hours in to journey it started raining and then the cruise control dropped out and the dash lit up and beeped. Did the journey with various alarms (some very persistent) and with varying amounts of dash working. This morning it's fine again apart from the air bag light as they never clear themselves. So it's definitely water related I think. And it drives perfectly regardless of what lights showing. The only thing is the steering feels different, I guess as it looses the steering sensor it usually does something to hold the steering straight ahead that doesn't work?
  3. If I make it back I don't need the car for a few days so can leave the ECU in the warm to make sure it's as dry as I can get it, it's covered in WD40 after a moment of blind optimism, I doubt it'll do anything though!
  4. Cheers. I'm about to try and drive it 450 miles home and all being well will try and get the ECU out to dry everything out and take it from there.
  5. Bad earth / short somewhere sounds feasible. AFAIK battery is good, it's has no issues starting after being stood in the cold etc. I don't have a meter here to test with unfortunately. I'm going to drive it home and then go from there. It might fix itself if something dries out or die completely somewhere 7 hours from home.
  6. Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have my dash lit up with multiple lights including oil pressure and no Speedo, revs or temp and a dodgy fuel level. Car seemingly drives ok, albeit with no abs working.
  7. So I'm supposed to be driving 400+ miles tonight. Started the car this morning to be met by multiple lights, buzzers and a non functioning dash (apart from intermittent fuel gauge). Had been left facing down a slight hill for 3 days, no issues before then. At the moment the car is drivable with oil pressure warning flashing, airbag light on, steering light flashing between orange & red, abs/traction lights on and no temp, revs or speed showing. This is the Carista scan below, any one got any ideas? Wet ECU? 8. Hello please... Would anyone please be kind enough to check where the 5A fuses should be in a 2008 diesel VRS? I'm not sure if I switched one of them in a sleepy attempt at sorting an Aircon blower issue. Photo is as I have it, scanner won't link so wondering if I've moved one that is to do with obd. Thanks!
  9. Mine just died tonight after a week of sitting at the airport. Yet to investigate but could be the same thing :/
  10. I'm taking my 2008 Estate in tomorrow - I've got rust starting just above one of the tail lights and under the corner of the swage line across the boot. I'll be washing it first and giving it a good check over to see if I can find anything else to point out to them. The sills also have rusty patches but I'm not holding my breath for them. I'll report back if I get anywhere. The girl in the service department started talking about Full SH etc and that I wouldn't be covered but then put me on to the bodyshop, they didn't mention anything about it. Nothing to lose, and I'll get it sorted myself if they won't touch it.
  11. Re the Bluetooth question. I use a Kinovo BTC450 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-input/dp/B009NLTW60 I've hardwired it in to a cigarette socket that lives behind the dash under the ash tray and stuck the button on the dash to the side of the head unit. It plugs in to the aux input of my Stream MP3. Apart from the button it's all hidden and works really well for music streaming, it's pretty much all I use for music, and is OK for calls.
  12. Has it had a new non genuine DPF fitted? It sounds like it's doing a regen and the aftermarket ones seem to allow a lot of white smoke to pass through.
  13. Found this thread cheers and just sorted mine. Had broken in exactly the same place. Soldered in a new length of wire and heat shrinked the joint
  14. A couple of times recently my reverse sensors have dropped out briefly with the picture disappearing from the head unit. Today I got my other half to check the reverse lights which also flash off at the same time. This to me points to the reverse light switch or wiring. Is it just a standard plunger type screwed into the gearbox? And where would I find it? Cheers.
  15. Don't know if it needs cutting or if it's in 2 sections? My plan is a secondhand low mileage replacement, and see how I go from there.
  16. I wouldn't have waited until the 8th time of our coming on, it needs checking out and sorting before you drive it anymore.
  17. If there's not space to open the door then there's definitely not space for me to be mucking about changing wheels at the side of the road anyway.
  18. I'm getting fed up working on cars at the moment, anything I can do to shorten the job the better. Took an hour a side including changing backing plates, I would have been into the next day if I'd serviced them myself. I would have had to clean them up and repaint too as the red was flaking off and looked terrible.
  19. Hi Has anyone got any info or a guide on how to get the DPF off a PD170 VRS please? I can see the clamp on the side of the turbo and know which sensors to unplug but what else needs removing to get it out? Cheers
  20. I've recently changed both the rear calipers on mine. The dust seals on the pistons had both come out of the calipers and the Pistons were badly corroded. I couldn't be bothered to service them so bought a pair of calipers and swapped them over.
  21. It's really not a hardship to open the door as you position the jack and then close it once in place.
  22. It does but our TT has been through 3 mots without the leveling working and never had anything said about it.
  23. It is a genuine offer, although I know it's a lot less that you want.
  24. That's who I used too, just bought the one though.
