  1. I rejected a used Octavia 2.0TDI DSG that behaved oddly, clunked up and down the box, smell of burning clutch when it happened. At first the dealer told me it needed a new flywheel, then it was going to replace the gearbox. As I'd bought it under their used car scheme I asked them to supply another car but not from the same source - the first owner was Enterprise Rent A Car and if I'd known that I wouldn't have bought it. They weren't able to get another car so I told them I wanted my old car and the difference I paid back. They then told me they had sold my old car so i got all the money refunded to me. Funny thing is, I drove past the dealer about a week later and my old car was on the forecourt......
  2. I had this fault on an Octavia I bought used - it needed a new gearbox, but as I'd had it under a month I rejected in under the 30 day/1000 mile policy
  3. I've been having a look at all the road noise topics - I've got a pre facelift Elegance TDI which has horrendous road noise on most surfaces and I was thinking of changing it to a new model - can anyone tell me if the road noise is better or worse in the latest models? Thanks Neil ps the current one's on Continentals
  4. Mines started that nonsense too - I was just away to ask the same question! Sometimes if I slam the boot really hard it starts behaving itself. Is there some sort of sensor on the hatch? I know if the boot isn't closed properly (the warning lights on in the dash) it doesn't work at all. Neil
  5. It they've done about 12000 miles they're probably ex-rental vehicles. I bought one that was reputed to be 'ex-Skoda' but turned out it was owned by Enterprise. Needed a new DSG gearbox within 3 weeks of having it and was rejected. One of the rental companies uses a company name on the registration document but I can't remember what it was.....
  6. that sounds like a fault I had with a Seat Leon and it was the potentiometer on the throttle pedal - once that was changed everything was fine
  7. I've got an Elegance DSG and it only has the 'normal' display, not Maxidot
  8. I managed to get a fantastic deal on a pre facelift model - the dealer actually called me offering me a much better deal than when I had been in the showroom
  9. Dunfermline - had a bad experience with my local dealer and the one in Dundee wasn't interested....
  10. After 9 months driving an Astra I am now a Skoda owner again, Octavia Elegance 2.0TDI DSG loving it!!!!
  11. I got a good deal on a VAT free Octavia - might see if we can do a deal on a Bolero
  12. I've had a trawl of the forums but couldn't find the answer - apologies if it's been asked and answered....... I don't really like the look of the Stream headunit - has anyone replaced the Stream headunit with a Bolero and how much did it cost? Thanks Neil
  13. I got an email from them too telling me my car had increased by £615 too..........
  14. They wouldn't be getting paid until collection.
  15. I was going to pay cash - that's maybe another reason they weren't offering fantastic deals, probably wanted the finance commission........
  16. Thanks for all your commetns guys. Just to clarify, I was looking at new cars, told both dealers I was after a 2.0TDI with a DSG box and the first one told me 'there aren't any'. Dealer number 2 was much more helpful, was able to check the stock and lo and behold, they do exist but his cost to change was a good bit more than I wanted (and expected) to spend.
  17. After 8 months driving an Astra......... I felt the need to get back to being a Skoda owner. In these times of credit crunch and nobody buying new cars I thought I'd manage to get a reasonable deal - however, nobody seems to wants to sell me a car!!!!! Local dealer wasn't interested at all and one a bit further away offered my a crap trade in price for the Astra................... Looks like I'll need to keep it a bit longer :(
  18. I had 2 - one for almost 2 years which was smooth, no jerky changes and made me want to get another one and the second one for 4 weeks which turned out to be an ex-rental vehicle that needed a new gearbox at 12000 miles, which I rejected and got my money back. Sounds like theres something not quite right with it - don't let the dealer fob you off - should be smooth.
  19. Bought an Astra SXi (manual) and suffered from a sore neck/back since - beginning to think I should have got another Octavia DSG.............
  20. For the moment it's the end of Skoda ownership for me. I was prepared to take my old car back but they had sold it so refunded me the whole amount and were really good about it - hats off to them. I've no idea what I'm going to get next, but the money will burn a hole in my pocket till it's spent!
  21. Another update - the dealer obviously thinks my head buttons up the back - if I decide not to take this duffer of an Octavia back and take a new one, the extra I'll have to stump up is £4700!!!!!!! They must think no-one has internet access or reads motoring mags - they've overlooked the free spec upgrade so I should only pay for an Ambiente instead of Elegance which if I've done the maths right should only be £3300 which is still way off what I think is reasonable. Any comments welcome!
  22. Todays update - Skoda has told the dealer to put a new 'box onto the car - however, I still don't want to take it back. Dealer is now saying 'I can't magic another car out of nowhere', but you could have your old car back. Told him to go away and work out his best price to get a new one........ As soon as I know any more, I'll post it!
  23. update on the exchange - only car they can find the same as the duff one is a satin grey one thats also an ex-hire care so I declined the offer. "Don't worry, we'll find you a suitable car" and then told me they still had my trade in....... I'm half tempted to take my old car and my cash back.
