  1. Haha my bad, I got it right on the email so that's the most important thing, we shall see what he comes back with!!...
  2. Yeah going through the palaver of that at the mo Teebs!! Emailed Alistair Stewart @ Skoda yesterday so just awaiting some sort of response from his people. No doubt it'll be a big fat NO, but I can pray right?...
  3. Thanks your help again mate, your like an oracle around these parts!! I have seen the name Alistair Stewart banded around a couple of times, is he possibly the go to guy for the definitive answer? Just wondering if anyone has any contact details for him, i'm sure I saw an email address somewhere at one point?
  4. Still fighting this out with Skoda but not looking promising!! Has anyone on here had to go down the route of privately arranging the engine replacement? Cheapest company i have found so far was just under 2k (replacement engine+labour) but upon further investigation I found out that particular company was featured on Watchdog recently so that was a definite no no!! Really struggling to find anyone who can source the engine.
  5. Currently going through this issue at the mo and i'm sick of it!! Skoda trying anything they can from having to foot any of the bill whatsoever!! I have spoken to two separate people already, both not realising (apparently) that this problem even exists with this model of engine!!!!
  6. That's smashing, cheers for all your help mate!!
  7. Cylinder three is massively down on compression and the chap I took it to had a career at VW before going independent but that was a few years ago. Thanks for the reply anyway mate. And in all fairness I do think I'm flogging a dead horse, but I am going to flog it all the same, Skoda are richer than me after all!! That link doesn't work, where is the pinned post, on this part of the forum?
  8. Evening all, new to this forum and I whole heartedly apologise for making my first post a rant!! The previous owner had stuck a few subtle Briskoda stickers on the car so I'm guessing he/she must have been a member at some point too, so technically the car is sort of returning home haha!! Basically though, I have owned the Fab for nearly two years and it honestly has been a pleasure to drive, but it's recently picked up the engine illness I have read so much about, mostly on here. I realise this has been trawled to death, so I'll apologise again for raking up old graves, but I need to try and find out if I have leg to stand on with Skoda. It's a late 2010 model with 42k on the clock. Bit of research before buying the car had given me the insight to the oil consumption and that hasn't really bothered me as it hasn't been too alarming, but recently I had noticed the coolant level had dropped. Topped this up, as you would, but driving it the other day the car started to splutter and went in to limp home mode. Got it home and looked into it, and realised it has been showing all of the characteristics of the fatal TSI engine issues. The garage have come back to me today and have said the engine is kaput, new one is needed!! This is where my case might fall down some what though. The Fab does have service history, but only up until 24k, and none of the previous services were carried out at Skoda dealerships. The only time the car has visited them is to have the DSG gearbox oil replaced which was part of a recall in 2014. Now I full well know that of a car of this age and mileage should not really be prone to a complete engine fail and I believe that VAG are fully aware of these engines being prone to this issue, but have they admitted to the fault? I just need to know if I have any leg to stand on with getting it sorted and the next path to take. Any help is greatly appreciated and I apologise for a third time at such a repetitive and boring opening post, Si.
