  1. Yes I have mine - and Chris' comment is right, there is a button by the driver that you can open the back with. You can also, as my wife prefers it seems, open and close it using the button on the key fob.
  2. I got the wiring pack and handed it to the salesman - they fitted it during PDI on my Karoq and at no cost. As ever, negotiate!
  3. I hated the satnav on the Yetis and Octavias which I had. At times, it was so far wrong it was infuriating. But the Karoq satnav, so far, with the link to my iPhone hotspot for traffic updates / Google satellite view is easily better than Google Maps and Apple Maps for navigating. I have even stopped using my Sygic satnav (for now) as the Skoda one is finally looking to be "fit for purpose"
  4. A quick iPhone photo of the car today at a parking meter lol. It's amazing to drive
  5. Can't wait! Even better, my car insurance company just said that they're reducing the premium and excess, and refunding over £30 to change cars from my Octavia …
  6. I'll gladly share images! Looking forward to it. I went for the black leather as from experience it shows dirt and wear less than beige leather (current alcantara seats on Octavia are beige - a nightmare to keep clean. I know leather is far better though). My thinking with the dark interior too is that the sunroof will avoid the cabin seeming gloomy.
  7. Picking up mine on Thursday. Metallic Brown Edition with Assistance Pack and a couple of other toys. 1.5TSI DSG.
  8. I followed my (late) uncle's advice and did my first drive in an empty car park with stones on the ground - to allow you to learn where each wheel really was (A trick he learned in the war when he was regularly given this or that truck or vehicle to drive - from North Africa to Rome, via Monte Cassino ...). I then did something similar in a largely empty car park with a few vehicles parked a decent distance apart - and the auto park was flawless - left or right, side or reverse parked. What I learned is that it parks as near the middle of a moderate space as it can - it can get in a space that I cannot open a door to leave the car from! If it is a big space (ie a double one) it will park close to one car not bang in the middle. Overall, getting in and out of spaces is brilliant - as long as you remember that it is Past ASSIST - you need to look at the actual space, are cars on the kerb, and remember that parking between two Fiat 500s will be harder for it as they're so narrow. It can make parking much, much easier, as long as you use YOUR brain.
  9. Ive got the upgrade. But wish I'd saved my money. I use Bluetooth and the steering controls manage my phone perfectly.
  10. I've got a new Octavia. I did multiple experiments with the inbuilt satnav, and also Apple Maps (Carplay) and Google Maps and my Sygic satnav app on my phone. The display of the inbuilt satnav was good, directions were clear - but if there were traffic delays or temporary closures, simply wrong. Big traffic issues it got right, but other stuff it would actually navigate me into - no use at all. Google Maps (phone only, won't carplay to the screen) was good - but surprisingly the worst of all for traffic delays, temporary closures and rerouting. In one awful case, it three times tried to route me back to a closed road. Apple Maps was pretty, showed on carplay, but was not the easiest to use and didn't have a useful enough offline mode. It was better than Google for delays, to my surprise, but was too limited, particularly in alternate routing as things changed. I also tested Waze but as it requires 100% access to your location is both a battery killer and a security no no for me. In the end, I opted to continue with Sygic which uses Tom Tom maps and traffic updates. My phone is mounted on the dashboard and linked via Bluetooth to the car, not via carplay. It has its weaknesses too, but was far the best on test (getting a score of just over 80%, compared to just under 60% for the inbuilt one). This is a very short summary of pretty extensive tests (and I'm a software guy so know how to do this). If Apple would allow third party satnav apps access to carplay it'd be ideal for me (Google similarly on Android! )
  11. Well my lovely maroon Yeti L&K comes to the end of its pcp contract on March 1st. In its place, I'm picking up a black magic 1.4tsi SEL Octy. Added in park assist and reversing camera plus headlights, and looking forward to taking it the length of Scotland (already booked for a tour of Orkney and Shetland, as well as Scottish Borders) And breadth of Scotland (doing the NC500 in May). Pictures in location possible!
  12. Oddly I get this one intermittently too. But not often enough for me to take it back to the dealer (yet).
  13. A mere child then! At 64, I still get asked regularly to show my grandkids how to do stuff on their phones and tablets. Still life in this old dog (now, where did I leave my specs ...)
  14. Just been advised mine was built yesterday! Shipping to Emden as I type this ..... OOOOHHHH! Wait almost over.
  15. And me! Had an original, got a FL on order. Love both.
  16. Well my new FL Yeti is (allegedly) being built this week! At last, at long last. Rosso Brunello L&K Outdoor, with all the toys plus the MDI interface for my iPhone. (One of the things I liked about the L&K spec is that after I went through it, there were no items on my fantasy list that were not already included). Looking forward to picking it up on March 2nd or 3rd .... I am rolling over my contract on my new Octavia (this replaced an Elegance Yeti which was great fun. While the Octavia is lovely, economic, nippy, roomy etc, it is just not a Yeti!)
  17. 'Twas my birthday present! And actually also my Christmas present (as agreed by SWMBO). Walks off humming "when I'm 64".
  18. I've a Columbus on my new Octy (trading back for a new Yeti though). While it's great for DAB and music etc, the satnav is poor overall. Very pretty yes, and it gives clear directions - but the menu system is utterly diabolical, choosing a new destination can be very frustrating, the maps are of variable accuracy (four or five years out of date in some locations in Central Edinburgh for example), and the traffic system is very poor compared to TomTom HD. An example - in the recent storms, the Columbus satnav tried to take me into a section of the M8 that was nose to tail (heard that on the radio). Luckily I had my TomTom and switched it in while sitting still, and it took me off the motorway at the next exit (after a minutes replotting routes as it got its traffic updates) and then via back roads to my destination only 20 minutes late (the M8 delays lasted two hours or more). That, and two or three other navigation errors sees me now permanently on TomTom. But in every other way the Columbus is exceptional and I'd hate to go back to more basic music and radio management.
  19. I had an original Yeti. I loved it, and it went in some wild places I can tell you, forests, beaches and mountains without a hiccough. When I replaced it, I went for a new Octavia (fully loaded). It is great, amazing economy, lovely drive EXCEPT in crosswinds or wet roads when it is like any 2wd vehicle, but better than most. In the end, I realised the Yeti was better, so I have a FL Yeti on order and have negotiated a decent deal on my finance to swap to what (to me) is a more fun and flexible vehicle. With its 4WD it is significantly more capable in nasty weather and tricky road conditions. And a higher ride gives a better view. And it is way more fun!
  20. We have a Yeti which we love. Our PCP deal ends in June so we went to the garage on Saturday to look at the new L&K Yeti. I was set on ordering one. The salesman suggested I test drive the 2,0 Elegance Octavia. Now I had an Octy 2 and it was ok but bland for me. But after a 40 minute drive on back roads and motorways I was stunned to find myself asking him to order the Octy! Rossi Red Manual Columbus Winter Pack Sunroof Comes out cheaper than the Yeti per month and far more economical. And lots of fun. A n excellent car to drive and so much room (very much like my Superb 1 in that, not quite so Tesco-parking-space hostile thankfully). Can't wait for delivery.
  21. Well, having waited nearly a YEAR to see another Yeti in Edinburgh after I got mine, I too see them a couple of times a week. But obviously folk are nicer this side of town as they flash their lights or wave when they see me!
  22. That is the second saddest thing I have heard in a long. long time. The saddest is that I thought the exact same thing earlier when it snowed here (briefly).
  23. After a disappointing experience elsewhere (and as existing Skoda owners), we were strongly recommended to try West End Garage for our new Skodas. We went out originally to discuss a trade-in for my wife's car against a newer second-hand Fabia - Stuart was friendly, efficient, and the trade-in offered was far better than we had been quoted, against a car identical to one we had seen at another dealer, but with a lower price tag on it! Easy decision - ordered it then and there. Then I discussed the Yeti - Stuart had the facts and figures ready to go, gave us a nice test drive, and an hour later had agreed a very good trade-in on my DSG Octavia and a good deal on the Yeti now sitting outside my door. Possibly the BEST sales experience I have had with any car I have owned since I started driving (1969!). Yes - THAT good! I have a minor problem with the heated rear window - a quick email to Stuart about it and the Service Manager was on the phone inside five minutes arranging the (warranty) visit to examine it, and arranging the courtesy car too. Overall - West End Garage have been excellent with us so far. Very positive sales experience, and we hope the service operation is as good. UPDATE - My Yeti's heated rear window was only 2/3 accurate. it was a window, it was at the rear - it just did not heat! I took it to West End Garage, they were excellent and polite. I was given a courtesy car (a new turbo petrol Fabia) while my Yeti got a checkout. After a few hours I had a call (I had expected to be without my car for two or three days with a window replacement likely). But all fixed, returned courtesy car, my own Yeti washed and sparkling and ready to go. Painless, polite, efficient and a warranty job. I am now even more impressed with them.
  24. As a family, we bought three Skodas from Chatham's, all from one salesman who was excellent. Something changed there about two years ago, though. A lot of good salesmen left and the new ones were not as good, we felt. Administration problems by Chatham's also saw them issue a SORN for our car despite having sold it to us - so it was clamped and we were fined too! Last spring we went to do a trade-in and got quoted poor trade-in figures for our two cars The salesman tried to push us towards a vehicle he wanted to sell (another Octavia) rather than what I said over and over I wanted to buy (a Yeti). So we went to another dealer and could not be happier with the difference is service and prices! Overall - Chatham's servicing is good but pricey, their sales now indifferent.
  25. Nearest Skoda dealer to me is about 1.5 miles (after they moved across town). I drive past them, though, and instead go to the best Skoda dealer who are about 12 miles away
