  1. Sorry for not replying on my, eh.. "progress".. I was about to get the car sold (with rotten cables and all) 2 weeks ago, and when the buyer gets here to check it out.. it wouldn't start. Then it's been pretty much constant rain and cold, so I haven't been able to work on it until today. Good news is that it starts again (a connector wasn't properly connected, D'OH) at least, hopefully I can try and locate these last wires tomorrow. Wish me luck!
  2. Yeah I've replaced wires for speed sensor, high pressure oil sensor, generator light, cooler temp sensor and parking light so far. The loom down to the Engine room was all slimy inside and smelled like a compost, so rain water must have gotten into it from the top and was trapped in there, rotting all the Cables. I've looked at all the wires there, but I guess I'll take a closer look. How do you know which pins are for that? Seems like Tech sheets for this car is near impossible to find..
  3. Hm, I've looked thru all those wires, and none are green/red or green/white, but I'll have a closer look! Also, why do your connections look so much more easily accessible than mine? I can barely reach the wires with my fingers, and then I can't rotate my hand..
  4. I'm in the process of replacing these horrible cables going from the dashboard, fuses etc and out into the engine room, and geniously goes thru the rain water drain space.. Yeah, electricity and water is not a good combination, don't the engineers at Skoda know that? Anyhoo, right now all that's left (for now) is the washer pump cables (green/white and green/red), they go up into the rain water space, and then.. nowhere to be found. Anyone have any clue as to where they go? I'm this close to setting this POS on fire or something, I'm so sick of it. :(
  5. Ohh I see.. In a video on youtube about fixing drum brakes he loosened the hub nut, I assumed that's how the drum was fastened.. Doh, then I wasted money on those sockets anyway.. :/
  6. I'm about to fix a leaking drum brake, so I will need to remove the wheel hub nut, and from what I can gather it's supposed to be fastened at "50 nm plus 45 degrees". 45 degrees of what, and where? I haven't found any clarifications anywhere! Also, how important is correct torque here? I'm assuming I can't just wing it? I have no torque tools, and I'm hoping to not spend too much on it, since I only need to use it this once (hopefully).
  7. I wired the sensor straight to the cluster, now it's working! So somewhere there's a broken wire, probably where it's the hardest to get to it, as usual. Thank you all for your help.
  8. Are you 100% sure it should go straight to the clocks and not thru some other circuitry? The wire colorin doesn't quite seem to match, it's a different.. tint I guess, on the cable. Safe to just try and connect it with a straight wire or do I risk frying something?
  9. Sensor gets 12v but white-blue wire seems to be broken. No blip with ohmmeter. Guess I need a new wire then
  10. Soo I replaced the sensor today, and the needle still won't move. *sigh* "More research needed" as they say.
  11. After a few days of ****ty weather I could finally dig in and look for it, and found it. Thanks everyone for your help.
  12. It's illegal to drive without a permanently mounted speedometer here. Anyways, I don't need the car that badly right now, so I'll just get it fixed.
  13. I'll take a closer look around there then, thanks! It's frustrating to have a car I can't drive..
  14. Hello! New to this site, hope I'm in the right place.. I have a Skoda Fabia 2000 (6Y2) with engine code ATZ, and the speedometer isn't working. This is the error code; 16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor P0501 - 35-00 - Implausible signal So my first thought was to check the speed sensor, which is supposed to be located on the gearbox, but I can't for the life of me find WHERE.. No pictures on the net matches my car, and I have looked everywhere I can think of. Can someone help please?
