  1. I thought about the coil packs but is it not a bit unlikely for all 4 to fail simulatneously? Yes I guess if the mis was that bad the cat could be damaged, does anyone have any figures to compare to and well run a check Rgds Rich
  2. A friend has been having problems with an Audi TT and has the following fault codes: 7 Faults Found: 17704 - Error in Mapped Cooling System (usually temp Sensor or Thermostat) P1296 - 35-00 - - 17584 - Bank1: O2S (Lambda) Correction Behind Catalyst: Control Limit Reached P1176 - 35-00 - - 16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0300 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16687 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected P0303 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected P0302 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected P0301 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected P0304 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent The car is standard incidentally. The 17704 comes on almost straight away but the misfire codes are only when the cars been driven for a bit. Reckon a new green temp sensor will clear the 17704? Does anyone have a part number? Is it 030 and 036 which test the 02 sensor? What values are we looking for? Is it possible the codes are linked? Rgds Rich
  3. Hi, Unfortunately I cant get that to work. 002 is not a valid channel it says so I tried 02. Read = 128 Click TEST = ERROR Am I doing something wrong? Its a 2003 Octavia vRS Thanks Richie
  4. Thanks a lot, Ill try that tomorrow. Kind Rgds Rich
  5. Hi all, had the Octy RS serviced a couple of weeks ago by a non VAG dealer. Can I use VAG-Com to reset the service light? Thanks Richie PS Im on variable and want to keep it that way
  6. Also decent prices on: Toyos T1S - £110 Sport Contact 2 - £110 I have heard the T1S is pretty soft and therefore wears quicker than some. Has anyone got any comparisons between it and the Continentals? Good news ref the MOT, thats how I remembered it but good to know it hasnt changed. Thanks
  7. Cheers guys, Turns out the Contis are Sport Contacts not 2s. I dont really like the look of the Dunlops so theyre out. How do Toyo Proxes T1S sit? Mytyres want an additional £9 postage PER TYRE because my postcode is in the Highlands (its not actually) so Im going with etyres. They also list Yoko C drives. Not heard anything about them but my local place reckoned the A drive (cheaper range) was great value for money. Thanks for the opinions Rich
  8. Hi all, Best price I can get a set of Conti Sport Contact 2s for is £105 each fitted. Is this a decent price? Some were quoting upwards of £130. An alternative is Dunlop SP2000E at £100 a corner. These are for 225/45/17 so the other question is are there any problems (its due an MOT soon) with having different size tyres on the front vs the back? IIRC its ok as long as the same size is fitted on the same axle. Any thoughts appreciated Rgds Rich Forgot to say, Im not able to get tyres mail order as all of the dealers up here refuse to fit and balance them in response to the cheaper prices online. Therefore my choices are somewhat limited :(
  9. Yeh, Ive done plenty in the past too but for ease and warranty purposes, I reckon its a garage job this time - maybe Im getting lazy in my old age! How much did you pay for them? Rgds Rich
  10. Hi mate, Did you fit them yourself? I dont really have the time at the moment. I see theyre pretty reasonable at ECP, both the standard ones and the ATEs. Thanks Rich
  11. Hi guys, I suspect Ive got a warped front disc. Having not driven the car myself for the past 2 months, now Im back, it seems more obvious with a definate shudder through the wheel under moderate braking. Im assuming that this isnt covered under warranty, so has anyone had them changed by Skoda? Is it cheaper all together to buy them (Euro Car Parts or similar) and have them fitted? Im a bit un impressed with the standard discs if theyve warped after only 30k, so has anyone tried any other replacements? Ive used Tarox in the past among others but Id rather avoid drilled or grooved as its fairly blatant the brakes have been upgraded. Thanks for any thoughts and opinions Rgds Rich
  12. Yep, same here, mine is used every day
  13. Yeh I was impressed to begin with then about 2 weeks later the smell is back. Im not sure what causes the smell, could it be a damp pollen filter? through which all external air is being drawn, cos there is no smell in re-circ
  14. Might be worth having the hazard warning switch replaced. Mine suffered from an irratic hazard/turn and changing it cured it, its a known issue. Rgds Rich
  15. From VAG-Com my idle is 720 -760 rpm (warmed up with choke off) Rich
  16. Cheers Beretta - Was that a CAT back or Turbo back? Rgds Rich
  17. Hi mate, Yeh Id seen your video - sounds great was that with the standard exhaust? email is [email protected] thanks again Richie
  18. Do you have access to VAG-COM, Id be interested to see what your inlet temps are with the K&N for comparison to the stock airbox and a CAI. Rgds Rich
  19. Hi all, On the subject of noise - can we try and get a thread together with all the files and a list of car and mods, Im sure this will help when it comes to choosing between exhausts and filters for instance. I believe Blue Flame have a clip of their system on an RS, does anyone have said file? Thanks and Rgds Rich
  20. lo Manguish Ive never heard of boost pressure being affected by oil pressure, but I know of the same problem you describe with the VTECs. In the days I had my Impreza, a mate suffered badly from oil surge on the track and the baffled sump cured it. This didnt though at any point affect performance - there was no retardation by the ECU. It is of course a dangerous situation to be in (particularly with the flat four, many No3 pistons have turned their toes up due to it). IMO, its much more likely to be fuel surge. Ive only ever heard of it on the track and Im suprised you got it on the road but I assume you were giving it sufficient beans at the time. Id be interested to hear where the pump sits in the tank and in which direction you were going, its totally plausable that the resulting G force would uncover the pump leading to surge, which definately would result in the ECU pulling back. Hope you get it sorted Rich
  21. I used the ross tech tutorials to gather the following, Stock Map:180.1 Hp @ 5840 RPM & 187 ft/lb @ 2320 RPM Revo Trial: 187.2 Hp @ 4720 RPM & 231.4 ft/lb @ 3560 RPM The car is a standard 03 Octy vRS, so the standard figures seem about right to me but I'm suprised at the difference between the HP and Torque curves they dont seem to be similar at all, although I'll take any advice on that. As for the Revo curve, Im suprised there was just a 7 Hp increase but staggered there is such a big jump in Torque, 44 ft/lb, pretty impressive I think. Graphs are Block 120 Torque/BHP: Block 115 - Boost: Block 002 - A/F Ratio Thanks for any advice, all comments welcomed Rgds Rich
