  1. That's what the Skoda mechanic said. What will happen if it fails before I get it fixed? Just lose 4 wheel drive or much worse? TIA David
  2. I'm currently in S of France (with UK yeti) with temperatures around 36 most days, over 38 earlier this week. No problem with parking sensors, so heat may not be the issue. David
  3. Thanks, that bouncing made it work for me. David
  4. I've done what it says in the manual (at least I think I have) but those rear seats won't budge forward or back. Any thoughts?
  5. Pressing the PP button turns it off instantly, until you next reverse.
  6. I have a Yeti 4x4 without the spare wheel. I carry a Mtb and a road bike at the same time in the back. Both have rear pannier racks. Fold down rear seats, remove front (bike!) wheels. Rear of bikes go in first. Could possibly manage a third bike too. Alternatively on long trips with a lot of luggage, the road bike (its actually a tourer, no mudguards) just fits in sideways behind the front seats if I take off the front wheel and handlebars. Rear seats are in normal upright position to take extra luggage.
  7. The clock has to set manually, rather than automatically via DAB or GPS.
  8. My MY16, built in May 2015, has an Adblue sticker on the inside of the diesel filler cap, showing that Adblue is put into a tank accessed through the boot area.
  9. Thanks feebs and Ricky. Resetting the windows sorted it. No need on mine for switch to be between L and R. David
  10. As per the topic. One year old 2.0 150 L&K DSG. Used to work fine when holding the lock button on key for a couple of seconds. Now no movement either side. Both keys. Any thoughts? David
  11. Excellent, comprehensive post from ejstubbs. Thanks.
  12. " it asked me if I wanted to import Contact from XT******, no idea what that is" XT followed by 3 or 4 numbers is a Motorola phone model number, eg Motorola MOTO G XT1068
  13. No, I'll be driving it in France.
  14. What if you're out of the country for a month before it's due? (As I will be this year.)
  15. Shortlist was Nissan Qashqai Ford Kuga Kia Sportage Yeti came top by quite a way and has been wonderful ever since.
  16. Thanks for the advice everyone - I'll know next time.
  17. Driving on a minor road near Bala in the Principality, we went through what I estimate was about 10 inches of water right across the road for about 40 yards. Loads of the roads around here have flood warnings, but not this one. All was fine, with water splashing all around, including on to the windscreen. Any advice about driving through floodwater (apart from dont) ?
  18. Manual says - The warning light  lights up after the ignition has been switched on. Once the light has gone out, the engine can be started immediately.  flashes - there is a fault in the engine management system. The system allows operation emergency mode - there may be a noticeable reduction in engine performance. There is a fault in the glow plug system if the warning light  does not come on or illuminates continuously. Seek help from a specialist garage. Sorry I'm not technical, but thought the manual might help you a little. Good luck David
  19. Topic says it all really, and maybe I've answered my own question ie when it's not on a road eg across a field or along a muddy track. But... some nominally metalled roads are full of potholes, loose gravel etc. And what about snow and ice?
  20. I got this funky, easy to find (in orange!) key cover for 99 of our English pence, including p&p http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-VW-Seat-Skoda-Flip-Key-Case-Cover-Car-Silicone-Skin-Rubber-VAG-Passat-Bora-/291465611536?var=&hash=item43dcb44910:m:md6jK4ZmfKz8QnlJIDKb3ng David
  21. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_exhaust_fluid It's basically used to lower NOx in diesel exhaust emissions.
  22. Our new model Yeti 2.0 TDI 150 4x4 started warning about Adblue after about 4200 miles, roughly 2/3 on motorways and the rest in town. The first warning on the maxidot said 1500 miles remaining; the warning comes up with each ignition start and is counting down in 100s. Slipped to our dealers and bought the Adblue - 1.8 litre bottle £6.73 and a 10 litre flagon £13.03 incl vat (which is comparable to Internet prices). The guy said I was their first customer for Adblue. The 10 litre flagon weighs around 22lbs so I didn't want any bigger - it would be too unwieldy. The bottle has a screw connector for the Adblue tank on the boot and the manual says you need to add at least 4.5 litres once you get the warning. As recommended on the Internet I followed the instructions in the manual for the first bottle-full (screw on, push down wait for filling to occur, pull up) then disconnected the bottle. The top of the bottle unscrews so I used the flagon via a jug to refill it. The last bottle stopped filling the tank automatically. I found it difficult to avoid getting the stuff, slightly sticky, on my hands. It wasn't a big problem but I'd probably use gloves next time. No noticeable spillage in the car. After filling I turned on the ignition for 30 seconds before starting the engine, as recommended. The Adblue warning seemed to disappear after about 10 seconds. The tank is apparently 8.5 litre capacity. I don't know how much was in the tank in the first place at handover. All told it took about 6.5 litres to refill this time so there should have been about 2 litres left in it before the refill. The Adblue warning was down to 900 miles and the odometer is at 4800. If my maths is right (feel free to check and correct me) - If Adblue is used up at around 6.5 litres per 4800 miles = 1.35 litre per 1000 miles (manual says AdBlue consumption amounts to around 0.8 - 1.2 l / 1000 km) that's effectively adding about £1.76 cost to 1000 miles. If the car does about 40 mpg, that's about 8.8 miles per litre or 114 litres/1000 miles; at £1.11 a litre for diesel that's £126. 54, so the Adblue is costing about 1.4% on top of fuel costs. David
  23. Don't think so - if you can, I'm not aware of it. The positioning of the button used is convenient tho. It's a volume control type knob easy to find with out looking. David
  24. On the Amundsen there's a button on the bottom right of the unit to hear the last directions said by her in the dashboard.
  25. I can confirm that you will be able to have the directions come up in front of you in the maxidot display, but not as detailed as on the sat-nav screen - distance to next manoeuvre, eta at destination. As you approach a manoeuvre, there's a fairly crude representation of the next manoeuvre and a kind of countdown indication on a bar chart as well
