Hi there.
I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure if this is the right way to do this, but I have a few issues with a newly acquired Skoda Fabia and wanted to address them here. Tried searching the forums for similar problems and found some solutions, but they where from quite old posts (< 2007) so not sure it was a good idea to try the same solution on a 2008 model.
Anyway, I have four quite different issues, so please let me know if it would be more appropriate to ask them in different threads. The car is a Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI Hatchback, with a 2008 plate and 68000 miles (110000 km).
1. Rattling/creaking in dashboard on passenger side (possibly also in the middle) at low RPM (1500-2000). Saw good threads on this about removing the air vent and jamming some rubber between a plastic and a metal part behind the vents. The thread was, however, quite old, so don't really want to mess around with the vents without asking if anybody has done this for the Fabia II first.
2. Strange whooshing sound (like: shhh) at seemingly arbitrary times during drives. First notices in 2nd gear, and a week later in 5th gear. Last for typically 10 - 30 seconds then disappears. A bit more worried about this than the dashboard creaking (which is basically just annoying).
3. Had the car for the 105000 km maintenance/check up. Was told that the rear break disks where a bit rusted and was recommended to replace them by the end of summer. Wondering if I can do this myself without having a lot of experience with DIY car repairs, or if this is one of those things that should definitely be done by a mechanic.
4. Last issue (a minor one). Had quite a lot in the trunk a week back and hear a snapping noise coming from the trunk when driving. Opened the trunk an saw that the trunk cover (the one covering the luggage) was knocked loose by some of the luggage. Also, the clip that the cover snaps into had disappeared (probably fallen somewhere). So think I might need to take out the side cover in the trunk and find the loose bit (and replace it if it is broken). If has done this before, or know where to get a replacement part for the clip, I'd love to get some tips.
