  1. Just swapped the battery on my 62 plate for a yuasa 5000 silver from Tayna. When it came it had a red transit plug at either end. It said to remove plug(s) but not how many. Looking at the varta I took out it had two holes in the same positions, one was clear but the one at the positive end had a white plug in it just like the transit plugs. Anyone know if I should have both out, leave one of the red ones in, put the white one from the old battery into the new one? Cheers
  2. Hi folks, I've had a look through some threads on here and there seems to be some mixed info so was hoping I might be able to get some clear instructions. I want to colour code my grill, I've done the bath and separation bit and got the centre badge off. I've then rubbed it down so I now have a sort of satin chrome finish as it were. This is my second attempt at this, I got all the way to the lacquer stage last time but got a big blemish and it all went wrong so I've rubbed it all back again. Last time round I used Halfords Bodyshop primer, matched paint direct from Skoda and likewise the lacquer that comes with it. Now I'm at the rubbed back stage, if I go at it myself, what primer should I be using, paint will obviously be the same and the lacquer but not sure which primer to use. Alternatively, I'm in Hertfordshire, is there anywhere that could do the paint job for me, anywhere I can either take it or send it and what Wayne would they want it at? Would they want it primed? In which case refer to question 1 Many thanks, James
  3. Having had a rummage around the threads I've decided to colour code my grill surround rather than the black I have now. I've bought a second grill to use and plan to do it myself. Got a few questions though. Is there only one race blue or is it a case of getting the paint code off the car and where is best to get it made up? Any brands people recommend and I assume I'll need grey primer and clear gloss lacquer, anyone know how many cans roughly of each? I want the new style black and chrome badges but will be painting them Monte Carlo style. Anyone know the codes for badges that will fit front and back (just the centre ones)? Anyone know what paint to go for? Is there a specific Monte Carlo colour or black magic or just any gloss black? Many thanks
  4. Yeah that's the only point I can see off the back of not having it done is whether they would then Welch out on warranty issues because the work hasn't been done as they issue a certificate to state it's been done
  5. I got my letter through yesterday for my 62 plate. Letter states the car should perform exactly the same after the update. I'll probably see if it can wait until it's service in February.
  6. Hiya, Been trawling through and I can quite find what I want in any of the threads so thought I would ask if anyone has or is able to take a photo of the following if they have them on a mk2 Octavia, estate for the rear shots. A standard grill on a race blue with the surround done in the same blue, black slats and no VRS badge. A blue grill surround with a black round Skoda badge in the centre A race blue estate with a black round Skoda badge in the centre on the tailgate A race blue estate mk2 with the VRS badge moved to the bottom right on the tailgate Any of these or the closest combination to it would be much appreciated. Cheers
  7. In addition to my previous comment, having pulled the headlight stalk you need to open your door, this is when the lights will come on.
  8. Hey guys, I'll let you know what I've managed so far, bit of a work in progress and I don't have VCDS I'm making changes via Carista but I'll try to explain as best I can. First off this is a 62 plate VRS Octavia, no rain sensor, I have fitted an aftermarket light switch with an auto lights function and light sensor (Chinese jobby) Within Carista for CH lights I have them enabled but set to manual and use dipped beams, using fog lights also works, but not having them as automatic activation. The light switch in the car however can be in the auto position rather than on as it were. Keys out of it ignition and pull the main beam stalk and the dips and tail lights illuminate for my set time of 20 seconds. LH lights at present do not work, however from the instructions I deciphered from the switch I believe I may need to run a wire from the jumper on the module of the switch to the indicators and that this is what activates them. I've no idea on how to do that but I'll look into it.
  9. Thanks to langers2k for sorting this out for me, quick adjustment on VCDS and the number plate lights are all good. Thanks to cladiu2s for the offer of help too.
  10. Looking to do the grill on the VRS, I've bought a spare so can do it with the old one still in place. Can so,eome tell me where's best to get the paint from. Most likely going to go with black (car is race blue) but I only want a satin/more Matt finish. Does the paint and lacquer come in satin finish?
  11. No it doesn't do coding, just unlock a few bits and reset faults etc
  12. I have Carista so I can run an ecu diagnostic, get part numbers etc. Under central electronics it says BCM PQ35 H. The part is 1K0937087AD. There's a very long coding number too. Can you tell from that if it's possible or does it need to just be tried out on VCDS.
  13. Ok, assume know nothing, which is true, is there any way for me to tell without hooking it up first? If I go the resistor route (I've seen so e leads on eBay) will they work either way?
  14. As per the title, looking to fit LED number plate bulbs but keep getting errors, anyone with VCDS who can code the error out for me on a 62 plate VRS Octavia? I'm in Hertfordshire, I can travel within reason. Cheers
  15. Looking seriously at some mods now as the warranty is up now. At the m8nute these are on the shortlist. Remap - Probably at Shark Rear anti roll bar - Any recommendations of what to get, how much to fit? Suspension - What should I be looking for, how much to fit? Any other parts mods that are “must have“? Also any visual mods you've done that look good? I have some a few bits here too, just interested to see what others have tried. Cheers
  16. I'm going to take it not many people went for an extension then
  17. Thanks for the replies so far. My mileage is quite low and I have access to other cars, I also get RAC over through work.
  18. Hi there, just resurrecting this post as its basically what I want to ask about. My Octavia II VRS manual is out of warranty this month, 3 years 19k on the clock, and I've been checking out what Skoda offer in terms of extending the warranty at this stage. https://www.skoda-extendedwarranty.co.uk/VWFS/Vehdets.aspx As advised by the dealer I've found the above link which you can doma quote on to get the extension direct from Skoda. Now i ve done a quote for the cover I would like, all components, 10k mileage, no excess. It comes out at just over 450 quid for 12 months cover, now am I being tight or is that a bit steep, I know there is the potential that something big could go but is that likely on a car of this age and mileage, if that was the cost for 24 months I'd be all over it. Your thoughts?
  19. In case anyone struggles with setting up the unit this may also be of some use http://stores.ebay.co.uk/enjoy-shop/Fitting-Instruction.html?clk_rvr_id=977073363684&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F710-53481-19255-0%252F1%253Ftype%253D4%2526campid%253D5336827504%2526toolid%253D10001%2526afsrc%253D1%2526customid%253Dskim15702X725267X5eaf0f820c6f389f2f44ed8304d31d70%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fstores.ebay.co.uk%25252Fenjoy-shop%25252FFitting-Instruction.html%2526srcrot%253D710-53481-19255-0%2526rvr_id%253D977073363684 Main Features 1. The module operates two stages of lights based on the light condition around, with Panel Lamps, Side and Tail Lamps and Headlight turned on, it is convenient and safe to drive on the road late and at night. 2. Quick response automatic headlight functionality for tunnels. 3. Tunnel mode is added, headlights will automatic turn on immediately upon entering a dark tunnel. You don’t need to wait and adapt to the dark condition as usual. If you don’t want the tunnel mode, you can disconnect the jumper for it on the module. But the head lamps will response a bit slower to the brightness condition. Side light will not work until it meets the light condition. 4. Adjustable mode for personal preference For example, suppose it turns dark at 7pm, then the default auto light operation may be: auto side light turns on at 6pm and auto head light on at 6:30pm according to the brightness environment. For someone who would prefer to have the side light automatically turned on earlier maybe at 5:50pm, you can set it up manually. And the module can remember your light condition. Module has light intensity memory function. When Headlight switch is in AUTO and ignition on: Setting for side light: AUTO-SIDE LIGHTS-AUTO-SIDE LIGHTS-AUTO (in 2 seconds), the side light and headlight will flash one time. The kit restores the light sensitivity at this point. Setting for headlight: AUTO-headlight-AUTO-headlight-AUTO, the side light and headlight will flash one time. 5. It is easy to restore factory settings. Setting: AUTO--0--AUTO--0—AUTO (in 2 seconds), the side light and headlight will flash one time, done. Reasons for failing the settings: a. Switch position is not in ‘AUTO’ when getting started. (Solution: Turn to position in ‘AUTO’, restart setting after 3 seconds.) b. Failed to complete in 2 seconds. c. The environment light is too dim at that moment for the side light setting. (The module decides that side light comes earlier than headlight, there is interval between them. If side light is turned on later than required, then this will lead to instability in lighting of the module. Thus side light setting is to fail when light is too dim. 6. Coming Home Function: switch on the headlight at evening, then turn off the car, side and tail lamps will keep lighting for 20 seconds. If you don’t want this function, just remove the jumper for coming/leaving home function on the module. 7. Leaving Home Function: Connect the jumper to turn signal light, remote to unlock the car at evening, fog lamp, the side light and tail lamp will keep lighting for 20 seconds Remark: 1. Coming/Leaving Home Function Coming Home Function: When car light is on and ignition off, coming home light is activated, there is notice saying light is not turned off when you are about to get off the car. Please just let it be, as the coming home light will turn off automatically after lighting for 20 seconds. Leaving Home Function: remote to unlock the car, the turn signal light will flash twice. At the same time, the leaving home light will be activated and last for 20 seconds. 2. Tunnel Mode: When the car gets into tunnel or basement within the recorded light condition, the auto headlight will turn on in 1 second. When the car gets out and the light condition is good, the auto headlight will turn off after 6 seconds. 3. On the delay in operation. There is 10 seconds’ delay before light starts to function after plug in the key and turn to position ‘2’. This is to help save the service life of the battery. It is better to turn on ignition after your car finishes self-check. 4. The original switch in the car is the mechanical switch with contactor inside, and the current of the lights go through the switch. This switch uses a replay to take the current. So the module will become hot on the surface after working some time as the replay heats. It is normal. Please do not worry about it. The module case is made of flame retardant and heat-resistant material.
  20. My DRLs work fine, its the coming home leaving home function only that isn't working
  21. Not sure I get a beep but not sure I've tried to do it that way.
  22. It's a 2012. Auto lights are fully functioning but I can't get the coming home leaving home lights working either on manual or auto.
  23. Pikpilot did you fit a kit if so did you have to connect the indicators in some way. From the earlier Chinese instructions it looks like there is a wire to connect to get this function working. I've got it turned on but it's not activating.
  24. Auto headlights as long as you buy the first kit with the sensor included. I haven't got the coming home lights etc working with carista as yet, not sure what the issue is there
  25. Sorry for the delay, here's a couple of pics of the new switch fitted as per the link above, perfect fit and all working spot on. As you can see the green is a great match, the word auto is slightly brighter/lighter but I don't really notice it.
