  1. Is it better to use this system or over ride it, the rationale being that the sma ll amount of fuel saved using this is outweighed by the wear on the battery and starter motor?
  2. Yes, that is correct, sir; I thought it was gonna be a bitch!!!!
  3. I suspect this might have failed, power to switch but flap will not close, Anyone done this; it seems as if it could be difficult to get access?
  4. No fault for over a week! Fingers crossed!!!! Thanks to all who offered advice.
  5. Yes, Sir, I think that is indeed the case. VW/Skoda et al have lost a lot of customer satisfaction.
  6. Yes, I have seen the lamp lit, it was definitely the gears lamp, EA189 fix not been done, car not been to a Skoda dealer since out of warranty, as I said, its been OK for a few days now .
  7. Car is an elderly neighbours but is not showing this lamp any more; going to a awkward ti find, I reckon.
  8. I will try a scan tomorrow, I hope. That lamp is not even mentioned in the manual car handbook; nor does it light up on switch on. Trouble is, it comes and goes with no discernible pattern.
  9. Fabia 2. 1.6 TDi 62 plate, yes it is the gear with exclamation mark
  10. Despite being a manual car, the auto gearbox warning light is sometimes coming on! Any ideas, anyone?
  11. There were 3 people involved; 1 from service reception, 1 from parts and 1 from sales. They looked up my reg. number on the computer and as I said, when I was told it was only software I said that It was common knowledge that a mesh of some kind was due to be fitted. They were emphatic that no such thing was to be fitted. I then said that if it was a simple software fix, why had they gone down the defeat and cheat route in the first place. They just smiled and offered no answer. As I said, this is Skoda at it's worst. The only way I can see forward is by Government intervention, and, frankly, they do not seem interested in the slightest.
  12. I reiterate; My local dealer is Hayseldens of Doncaster and I was told it is a software update ONLY. I said I had heard that there was to be some kind of air flow device fitted and was told that this is not the case. I was also told that the programme is way behind schedule; has anybody actually had it done, I wonder? Frankly, this matter is a disgrace and reflects badly on Skoda as a whole.
  13. I was told that there is now only a software change, no plastic mesh, etc. I agree about the price of the sump plug to pay for the new counters, etc. I will be removing the washer and fitting a new copper washer every other oil change from now on; why this is not standard, I don't know. I alternate with a vacuum pump to remove the oil by the way; saves jacking up and removing the undertray etc. I am still undecided about this update. Has anyone had it done yet, I wonder?
  14. Just been in my local dealer for a sump plug (£2.96) !!!! Whilst there, I asked whether there was any news on the update and was told that for my 1.6, it is software only and takes about an hour. This takes some believing; if it is only software, why go to all the trouble of the defeat in the first place?
  15. Here is my list for what it is worth: 1 In heavy rain, it runs off the A pillars over the wing mirrors making them virtually useless. 2 Only one reversing light, on the wrong side for a RHD car. 3 The rear screen heater shuts off on its own, mine varies between 6 to 10 minutes. I am sure that after I post this, I will think of some more bur here goes!!
