  1. Spoken to the mechanic and he doesn't think a genuine part was used after all. If it was not a genuine part and it was causing an issue, would it not still trigger an error code?
  2. Yup, always use genuine VAG parts. Fault codes were read with Snap On SOLUS Ultra.
  3. Hey guys, I'm having a nightmare trying to diagnose my Octy VRS and I wondered if any of you could help. My car started juddering whilst driving. I could not accelerate smoothly. The car would either jump forward or barely move at all. Pulling out from junctions was a pain as you didn't know if the power would suddenly drop. Also, and perhaps most alarmingly, the car is suddenly stalling at speed. It usually happens at around 70-80mph. The EPC light suddenly flashes on and off once, and the car loses all power. The ASR light also comes on and stays on. As soon as I stop the car and restart the engine, the ASR light is gone. The car does not appear to be logging any fault codes related to this. The same issues occur whether ASR is on or not. I was reading the fault codes and noticed that it was reporting issues with the MAF sensor and temperature sensor. I had these both replaced and it appeared to be fine. A couple of days later and the issue is back. This time it is reporting bank 1 sensor 1 lambda sensor. Replaced that and again seemed to fine. It is no longer reporting any fault codes, but the issue is still there. It is especially worse when the engine is cold. Any idea what could be causing this? It's a real shame as I am running out of money to diagnose this car and I haven't got a clue what it is. My mechanic doesn't seem to have any ideas either. I really can't chuck any more money at this without having a better idea of what is wrong. The car has been remapped (several years ago and has worked fine since then). It also has a Forge Intercooler, Jetex sports cat and exhaust, uprated CRT turbo and limited slip diff.
  4. I am selling my 2004 Skoda Superb 130pd. I bought this car off a mechanic friend who put many hours and over £2000 into modifying this car for a nicer drive. Will accept sensible offer for quick sale. It really is a fantastic fast smooth drive. The car corners like it's on rails. It has been sounded deadened throughout. Perfect for long journeys. The car has been remapped to 160bhp and it sure does pull! Despite this it's fantastic on Diesel. Really is a great car inside and out. This is a drivers car. Fast, comfortable and reliable mile muncher. My daily commute (BH20 7BA to DT11 7TA) gets 55mpg. Overall it averages about 40mpg. You can see some of the work done on this car here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/gallery/album/2107-skoda-superb-work/ Standard stuff: 115,000 miles Heated seats Electric mirrors Electric sunroof Central locking Air conditioning Xenon headlights Fully serviced MOT until May 2017 Service History (miles): 10987 17650 31509 43619 79540 102276 108240 Modifications: Meyle heavy duty front arm kit (all of them) Bilstein b6 shock absorbers all round New top mounts and bearing, both driveshafts and wheel bearing ERG delete Black smoke remap to 160bhp Sound deadened throughout Bad bits Mechanically there is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. It drives perfectly and faultless. The wheel rims could do with refurbishing as they are all scuffed. Bodywork has a fair few light scratches on the drivers side, mostly on the doors and around the handles. Some will polish out, some won't. Based in Poole, Dorset. £2250 ono. I am selling the car as I have bought a Skoda Octavia VRS. Let me know if you've got any questions or if I've missed something.
  5. Where abouts am I looking? My cables are coming down here and the power is coming from the fuse box, so the nearest possible grounding point would be ideal.
  6. Hey guys, I am trying to hard wire a couple of devices into my car. I have got a couple of add-a-fuses to do this, but I'm not sure if any of the screws can be used as grounding points? I can't see any clear metal behind them, just looks like plastic. In my Superb there were bare metal points to ground to.
  7. I was thinking about prepping and painting the bumper trim on my black Octavia VRS a glossy black. Has anybody else done this? Any thoughts on whether it would look good?
  8. Added some info: Service History (miles): 10987 17650 31509 43619 79540 102276 108240 Car is actually only on 115,000, not 119,000 (my mistake!) Will take £1950 for quick sale.
  9. Anybody who's driven the standard Superb will instantly appreciate the remap!
  10. I will be traveling to South Yorkshire this weekend. If anybody living within 50 miles of this area is interested please let me know.
  11. Hey guys, I am selling my 2004 Skoda Superb 130pd. I bought this car off a mechanic friend who put many hours and over £2000 into modifying this car for a nicer drive. I've provided all the pictures of the work. Will accept sensible offer for quick sale. This car has been owned by 2 Briskoda members, a mechanic who used this car for mile munching and by myself. It has been well looked after and has not been ragged around. It really is a fantastic fast and smooth drive. The car corners like it's on rails. It has been sounded deadened throughout. Perfect for long journeys. The car has been remapped to 160bhp and it sure does pull! Despite this it's fantastic on Diesel. My daily commute (BH20 7BA to DT11 7TA) gets 55mpg. Some will polish out, some won't. Based in Poole, Dorset. Looking for a quick sale. £1950 to clear. No offers please. I am selling the car as I miss my MK1 Octavia VRS too much. Let me know if you've got any questions or if I've missed something.
