  1. No they didn’t thankfully - I thought they would have done so very happy.
  2. A bit of both - the dealer ran the diagnostics and identified the towing module was unresponsive. I then had to take it back to the towbar fitters who confirmed the issue and rectified. Thankfully for me they’re 5 minutes away from each other so managed to get it all sorted in the one day.
  3. For those interested my issues were being caused by a faulty towbar module. I had an after market towsure towbar fitted with vehicle specific wiring and the computer upgrade done. Had been working fine and then seemingly failed. Bizarrely that then causes the car to deactivate all parking sensors as a precaution. Thankfully all sorted now
  4. Will do - annoyingly this issue started for me on holiday so we’re away in France at the minute. I’ll be booking in with the dealer when I get it back. Will let you know what they find the issue to be.
  5. Hi all - after a little help with our new to us kodiaq scout. I’ve only owned the car 8 weeks and all has been fine. Until this morning. I’m now getting a message saying front assist has been disabled and park pilot is not currently available. As such I’ve no working parking sensors front or back. Nothing has happened to cause this. It was all working as it should yesterday. I’ve been driving the car today and the issue has remained so not seemingly something that’ll clear itself. Any ideas what it could be? I do still have an extended warranty plan on the car so hopefully it’ll be sorted under that but just trying to get a feel for what it could be.
  6. its a real shame when you end up with a Lemon.... i had a similar issue many years ago with a Vectra you name it and it went wrong..... hopefully you have better luck with your new wheels
  7. i am starting to warm to the look a bit now the more i see it - would need to see it in the flesh i think - i look the look of the back lights over the current model.
  8. never driven one tbh but i imagine it will be totally gutless
  9. cambelt is based on age and milage, i am not sure what it is on the octavia but usually its something like every 60k miles or 6 years old whichever comes first. i really would not be put off by a car on 34k i certainly would not consider it a high milage car - the octavia is a fleet car suited perfectly to racking up high milage, that why you see so many of them used as taxis. ex fleet / hire car can sometimes put people off but on the flip side think if it this way it will have maintained perfectly in line with guidelines and regardless of cost so its probably better maintained then some private sales. that being said i would look to haggle on the price as it does look a little on the high side - i would certainly push for the 12.5k as you suggest they can only say no and its not like there us a shortage of them on the market if they do
  10. just stick with octavia i would say - key reason i got mine is wanted something that looks half good has good performance and big enough to lug a family about and it fits the bill perfectly well
  11. you can buy an activation code for it and just activate it on the unit - not sure on price but think its about £200 or so based on what i have seen on here
  12. just re read this "brake fluctuation excessive" does that not mean warped discs? so they are neither worn nor corroded. i wonder if it has been your handbrake binding causing them to get excessively hot?
  13. never felt it before i always thought there was a wall with holes in obviously in the fuel tank to stop that very sensation if its so bad it can be felt i would be getting it checked out
  14. don't use satnav on my phone but always have apple music on and the phone charges fine no problems - thats using the USB port mind not the cigarette thingy
  15. My VRS is just short of 15k and its rears are like new - has your handbrake been sticking on or something? suspect if they have changed the brakes now anyway you wouldn't know but might be worth jacking up the back and and checking the wheels spin freely so you don't burn through another set.
  16. You also have the cost to replace like for like to factor into it as well - i.e. new alloys as you say will potentially make the car more of a target but likewise aftermarket alloys may not be as easy to get your hands on a couple of years later vs standard manufacture alloys that will be commonly available.
  17. TBH the 13k mine have covered has mainly been motorway miles, having said that they seem to have plenty of life left in them yet. yep lesson learnt next time i will add the spare
  18. Not at all, apologies if it sounded like i was asking a loaded question. I have never really paid attention on tyre brand before if I am honest I have always just stuck with whatever was on the car when I got it. However have noticed they are a marmite tyre on this forum so good to undertsand what the issues are with them. I have only covered 13k on mine so far and no issues as of yet - but will be interesting to see how I get on with them as they start to wear off.
  19. couple of others have mentioned the electric folding mirrors - now i think of it i wouldn't have minded them as well but if i remember correctly when i configured mine you could only get them if you went for the electric memory seats and as i am the only person driving mien it seemed like overkill
  20. anyone else wish they added something else at the point of order? I am kicking myself for not putting the sunroof on mine - last few cars all had them and didn't think I would miss it as much as i do especially now the weather is getting better - lesson learnt next time i will not be so stingy
  21. as far as i am aware any claim made against your insurance company you stump up the excess
  22. what is it you hate about them? they seem spot on to me plenty of grip etc? or is it road noise? lots or people have mentioned road noise i just seem to be oblivious to it
  23. if i remember correctly it was averaging around the 55mpg (mines the TDI) - the car was well loaded up as well so all in all a good run.
  24. gutting - really glad you waited and got their details they must know they have done damage they must have really hit it to leave a mark like that. hopefully them having to pay their excess will make them be more careful in the future.
  25. good news! i have just done a big old trip in mine as well and equally really pleased - travelled from the Northeast of England to Paris and back with no issue at all with regards to comfort. Car was fully loaded with all our holiday gear so the massive boot space was also beneficial. All in all was a real pleasure to drive and covered well over a 1000 miles over a few days, handy that the sat nav picks up on variable speeds on french roads etc couple of points that did bother me: lack of spare wheel - didn't really think this through when i ordered the car but it did play on my mind that it would be just my luck to get a flat tyre whilst overseas and the mess on of trying to find a tyre place etc. The huge stone chip that I now have in my windscreen courtesy of some bloke who decided the temporary speed limit on freshly dug up road didn't apply to him
