  1. thanks for the responses. My point is apart from the amount owing under the lease, surely I owe VWFS market value, which is what my insurance would pay me? VWFS aren't going to replace the car.
  2. sorry for digging up on old thread but wondered if people can clarify something for me. I have my SIII on a 2yr personal lease. How does GAP insurance cover me? If i write off the car, i understand it will pay the rest of lease cost - fair enough. But what does it do relating to the car? If its written off in a few months, my insurer will pay market value. Surely that would be what i owe to the lease company though? They cant demand the value of a new car when its months old?
  3. Petrol Blue Its pretty much my car (Petrol Blue, Helios alloys, silver roof rails)
  4. It used to happen on my Ford C Max. Root cause of that was moisture getting in to the electrics in the boot handle, especially in Winter with the condensation. Had to disconnect the switch in the end
  5. Not sure how or why I typed "boot", I meant floor mats!
  6. the same. ours quite dirty on the inside, big dirty handprint on the roof lining and mud on the floor/seats.
  7. i should add that i received those boot mats about a week ago and they are a good fit and decent quality. I had bought some £4 mats from poundstretcher to make do for a few days, and have now put them on top of the new ones which might extend their life a bit too.
  8. ahhh! so will a 16" wheel, either 6.5" or 7" wide, with 205 fit under the normal boot floor without sticking up?!?
  9. i think if u have the VBF then yes as it wont matter. Im reading this as if you dont have the VBF, you need a 6.5" width wheel to avoid it lifting the boot floor (as a 7" would)
  10. jesus. Right so is the correct SPARE wheel the 6.5" one from the Octavia? (so it fits under the boot floor)
  11. ive only done 150 miles but have a 250 mile single journey next week. My very initial thoughts are: + great looks + good build quality, everything feels "solid" + even though its only a 150 engine its got a good bit of poke + the room in the boot! + the space in the back! - gearbox and clutch seems a bit vague. i've stalled a few times as the bite point isnt as noticeable - i think the passenger "mirror clearer" blower doesn't work - im 6'4" and im not looking forward to my long drive - my left leg seems quite uncomfortable against the central dash. my recent cars have been quite tall (Kia Sorento and Ford C-Max) so its noticeable how different and low a normal car is.
  12. Calder Rd was definitely an L&K. Do I have a stalker now Kev?! Will keep an eye out for yours
  13. cant you put together a quick and dirty kit as follows for about £60 ?........ Spare Wheel - £30 Tyre - source a second hand one - £10? Jack £8.50 Wrench - £7.50
  14. have you tried it and does it fit ? (well enough to get home/to a garage) i note on ebay you can get a jack and a spanner for less than £20 too.
  15. As there are a few cars knocking about now, but still few enough to be rare, thought it might be interesting to see if you have spotted any fellow members...... I'll start with two recent sightings: - Black L&K Estate, seen a few times along Calder road in Edinburgh in the morning at c8.30am. - Red Hatch (possibly an SE L), seen in Bathgate (Mill Rd) on Sunday 13 Dec.
  16. the wheel is £100 on ebay (£117 with jack/spanner)
  17. that's just when they are "ordering" it mate
  18. when replying, click the "More Reply Options" in the bottom right corner of the reply box. You should see the button to then attach files.
  19. Two blurry pics of my Petrol Blue SE Business Estate taken first thing on friday (before id even driven it). Coming round to the Helios wheels and thing they suit it better than the Stratos actually for the size
  20. as the owner of 19 month old twins, we have two stage 2 baby seats in the back of ours. long story short, your 9/10 years old wont have much room in the middle of the two baby seats. the baby seats seems to align quite centrally so doesnt leave much room in the middle. If i was in your situation i'd look elsewhere first.
  21. looks like they are definitely getting faster. Mine was 18 weeks.
  22. I was quite gutted when i found out i was getting Helios wheels, but dare i say it, I quite like them and think they suit the 17" wheels better. They look much better in the flesh - i was worried they'd look like the super basic taxi wheels you see on old octavias, but they are really smart.
  23. was about to start a spare wheel topic I have the 17" Helios wheels - can anybody give me the precise specs of either a space saver or full size wheel i need to get? Edit - would a "r17 5 stud sport alloy wheel with a 205/50/r17 tyre" suffice as something that i could stick on and crawl home or to the nearest garage?
