  1. This will need regular motorway runs to clear it out and warm it up otherwise you will get mayo in the oil (condensation).
  2. On a serious note,I would have thought that a 1.0 engine in an Octavia wouldn't be much fun to drive being that it is quite a heavy body for a 1.0 to haul around.
  3. I know a few women who would agree with that
  4. You need a garage that you can really trust. To cut a long story short I had some work that was "recommended" on a print out with prices. I took this to my garage that I now use, he said that he could halve the stated prices so I left the car with them. 2 hours later he rang me to inform me that most of the "recommended " was not needed. He could have done the "recommended" work and I would not be any the wiser.....Instant trust built
  5. Try sticking it in some boiling water to see if anything happens, if nothing happens then it is knackered
  6. Sorry ,maybe I am being thick but why do you want to change the head gasket ?. 1) You cannot be sure that it is the head gasket. 2) You say that you are scrapping it in a few months so why not just keep topping it up until then.....
  7. If it was me as several garages cannot identify the problem I would ignore it, if the dual mass flywheel is failing wait till it fails.....if it does. Why go through the cost of checking when it does not happen all the time. Drive it and enjoy it
  8. Maybe your tester has a fruit bowl handy to match up your indicator bulbs I have had this "under tray " advisory on every mot since I have had the car but it is not on previous mot tests before I got it.......
  9. WooHoo.....It passed with 2 advisories engine cover / undertray Nearside Side repeater deteriorated, but still visible from a reasonable distance (1.4.A.2e)
  10. When my MOT is due I really hate the feeling of "will it pass" "wonder what is wrong this year" "what will the tester find" it kind of reminds me of going to the dentist ..........Is it just me ?
  11. My tyre fitter has ground both of my front wheels and given the insides of the wheels a coat of some black jack stuff, no probs since
  12. Can I assume that your air filter is not bog standard ?
  13. Good find there, is this oil ok for a 1.9 tdi pd engine ?
  14. Sorry Mate your link is not 5ltr it is only 2ltr
  15. If you can't find an industrial park, try going up a steep hill in the highest gear the car can cope with i.e 4th would be good, if your clutch is past it you will soon find out doing this
  16. So according to our signatures we are getting very similar mpg although my police siren noise is more of a whine at the mo
  17. When it seems that my mpg is not what I think it should be I give it an Italian tune up I do this about every 6 weeks with a shot of Archoil
  18. Makes sense to me as well, I broke offside front spring and had it replaced with no issues at my Indy
  19. Surely if it was slightly overheating the gauge would be slightly up as well, because it has always been at normal, if this was the case would a slight overheat affect performance ? Maybe when it was in bits a couple more horses strayed in :D
  20. Slightly highjacking this but I have had the belt and waterpump done today at my Indy, can't tell the price accurately because I will not be invoiced for a month all I know its approx.£300. When I picked it up I asked if all was ok and he said it was, on the way home (all motorway) the car has more poke than before, why is this ? :dull:
  21. My 1.9 is getting cambelt and water pump next week £300 at my Indy, evidently parts companies are doing cambelt kits that include water pumps
