  1. Thanks! Does this seem like it could be the case in your view? Also, if the "new injector" that was installed wasnt coded in VCDS... would this cause a short?
  2. An update to this! Had an auto electrician take a look. He said the new injector installed is shorting the circuit, and that's why its not working. He believes this is because a non-VW injector was installed that isnt right, and installing a VW injector should resolve it...
  3. Damnit, was always going to be the case wasn’t it! Stupid question, but what is the benefit to probing? Would that just show the wiring loom needs replacing or is there a chance only a part of it does and that’s easier cheaper, or the part going to injector 4 alone could be replaced?
  4. Can't find the engine code... hmm. It's a 2010 1.6TDi if thats helpful in terms of code? Sorry, you're being really helpful!
  5. It clears then comes back when engine started. The person who fitted the injector did so without diagnosing the fault fully from what I see, and its cost me £400 as they arent cheap injectors! So I'd rather not have this person do this.
  6. Makes sense what you say on the loom for sure. Assume whole loom is replaced not just a part to the one injector? No real symptoms to be honest, car was driving fine and then it just went into limp mode and had that error. Is replacing the wiring loom difficult? Something I could do?
  7. Unfortunately my skills only go as far as checking the fault codes, can't do anything else! Fault code hasnt changed. I did remove the cable into injector 4 and sprayed with some contact cleaner but its not made any difference.
  8. Thanks! Code error is the below: ============1============== P0204 Raw code: 0204 ECU: Engine control unit Status: Pending OBDII: Injector 4 - circuit malfunction Skoda: Injector 4 Control Circuit This happened, so I had the injector replaced. It cleared it for about 100 miles and now showing again. Car in limp mode and stuttering.
  9. Hello I had an injector replaced and the vehicle is still not running correctly, with limp mode up and still faults with injector. Is it possible this is because the injector was not coded on VCDS? I am under impression from things I've read that can be the case. If so, what's the quickest/cheapest way to get that done? Thanks David
  10. Car drove fine for 100 miles or so, now same thing happened again. Same error codes coming up. Can see the injector was changed... what could be the source now? Any ideas? Would the same injector fail so quickly again?
  11. Thanks all had a mobile mechanic out and he said he replaced the injector as it was faulty, cost was £400 labour and parts. I wasn’t home and gf answered door etc, apparently he was done in around 15 minutes. does this seem likely to replace an injector in 15 minutes? Know they’re expensive parts so the cost of the part would be high, but surely it takes longer than 15 minutes if that was what he did?
  12. Thanks! Car is a 1.6TDI, so actually I don’t think it has a coil pack? not handy with one , sorry!
  13. Car limped home - engine light on flashing. In limp mode, no issue before it happened! scan shows this: P0204 Raw code: 0204 ECU: Engine control unit Status: Pending OBDII: Injector 4 - circuit malfunction Skoda: Injector 4 Control Circuit I read about replacing coil pack and it can help solve it. Can anyone link to the item I need to buy and is there a guide to fixing? thanks!
  14. Take it that's the big pipe at the bottom with just a normal jubilee clip?
  15. To spray EGR valve cleaner into the air intake. Do you know the name of the tool to remove this clip?
  16. Hi I need to remove the air intake. How do I get this clip off in the photo? I assume its this one I need to move. Is it easy to get back on after? Thanks! David
  17. Yes it's a 1.6TDI, sorry I should've specified! That cambelt drivetrain issue, what am I looking at costwise? Weird fault to have
  18. Hi All Got a whole bunch of fault codes on my car! Started with: P001D: https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p001d-obd-ii-trouble-code-a-camshaft-profile-control-circuit-open-by-jamahl-walker And now have: P0407 https://www.obd-codes.com/p0407 P2463 https://www.obd-codes.com/p2463 So obviously a bunch of issues! I had the cambelt changed about 15k miles ago, when it had to be done (car is now on 110k). Car drives but in limp mode because engine management light is on. I barely drive the car, but annoyingly need one! I do roughly 300 miles a month (picking up my daughter and pootling about at weekends!), so my driving of this diesel car is probably what causes the issue as all short trips. I used to do 20k a year motorway miles in it, which is why I bought it. I should really sell the car and get a cheap petrol runabout, and I may well do this, but won't get as much if it's not fixed first. I have an MOT due at the end of this month. Will it fail with the above? Any thoughts on price to fix the above issues? I expect the DPF fault will be fixed with a good motorway blast once the limp mode is fixed because of the first issue! Cheers David
  19. Thanks for this. Guess I'm conscious of calling a dealer and getting a year they've effectively made up, if it's not in the service book surely it doesnt matter? I should go by that no?
  20. That makes sense in terms of time interval, but equally for everyone that says 5 years someone else will say it's just a scam by the dealers! I don't have my actual book - does it specify a year in there? Also any view as to what I should pay?
  21. Hi All I've a 2010 1.6 TDI Skoda Octavia. I looked at the really helpful document on the main cambelt/oil filter etc thread and is says the below: 210,000 Km / 130,487 Miles My car has only done 95,000 miles. But I don't think it's ever been done, so you would recommend changing it now? Does anyone have an idea of what I should be paying too? Thanks! David
  22. Hi all Hope you can help! My battery light has been coming on and off recently, so I did a fault check just now and got P2453 diesel particle filter press sensor, A circuit range/performance come up. Would this be the cause of that light coming on? What can I do to rectify this and should I stop driving the car until it's sorted ? Not a mechanic by any means as you can tell and need the car to get to work! Thanks, Dave
