  1. Seal them before the winter with a ceramic product like GTechniq C5 Wheel armour:
  2. Might want to see if you can get the turbo reconditioned. Turbo technics do them and others, will cost less than a new one.
  3. Sorry, remove the post if its against the rules.
  4. The screen is just a screen, there is the glovebox unit also, which contains the processor and connections. Not usually viable, is probably cheaper to fit an aftermarket unit.
  5. Depends what you are used to, but generally the Octavia does have a greater than average amount of road noise. Its the price you pay for good value....less insulation!
  6. Looks like an MIB1 system, what year and month is the car? Apple car play/Android auto can only be activated by a dealer on an MIB2 system, which were fitted mid 2015 I believe. Dealer inputs a licence code, costs about £120 as mentioned
  7. Our Octavia is being part exchanged soon, so I have carefully removed the Kenwood Garmin sat nav and all the cables. I've got the original box and fitting instructions also. If anyone is interested PM me, I'm looking for £120 including UK mainland insured postage. Thanks
  8. I was told its the injectors, they are noisy until the engine settles down to an idle.
  9. Hi Wellsy1, I've had a New Octavia for 2.5 years now, and it is generally noisier than other cars I have driven, especially on rough road services. The lesser models, like my 1.2, with the torsion beam rear axle, do seem to suffer with droning from the back axle coming through the large boot into the cabin. I don't know if any one has mentioned it, but there is an under bonnet sound proofing pad, that Skoda fit to the 2.0 diesel, that can be fitted to other models. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-original-Skoda-Autoas-hood-silenting-panel Might be worth trying one of these, or seeing of the dealer will pay for it. From what I've read, people on here have had improvements from lining the boot with soundproofing, but if you can return the car, I would go down that route instead.
  10. The Fabia and all modern cars are designed to be left and right hand drive from the design stage, its not some bodge job done on the cheap. There are other right hand drive markets they sell in, India, Australia, Japan etc. The whole bulkhead panel is different to allow the pedals and steering and brake servo on the right etc. The heater unit is primarily behind the glovebox, so no different to a left hand drive. All cars get damp in our climate this time of year. You just have to run with the AC on hot all the time and dry them out as much as you can. I
  11. Get Skoda customer services involved if you have to.
  12. I've got 2 sets of genuine carpet mats if anyone is interested PM me.
  13. Its not impossible, but would be expensive, dash and glovebox unit would need changing. Probably cheaper to lease a new one with that set up in it....
  14. Blade Skoda Gloucester have one in the showroom: https://www.facebook.com/BladeSkoda/?hc_ref=ARRg7pgDtoz5-hxpUSmUsd2vzxH52OhVOv3XSWSC-qnFNH-joDIhgujQQJw3yeOtq5o
  15. Probably be under that plastic shield around the wipers with the grilles in it.
  16. I've also heard of people filling up the coolant reservoir with screenwash. Then wondering why the washers still dont work...
  17. Ok Octavia is up, but generally sales are down. I think the problem is they cant get Octavias fast enough. So a deal with a trade in has to be right to allow for the long wait of potentially 6 months.
  18. Can you locate the pipe to the windscreen jets, disconnect it then run the pump to drain it out. Maybe not for too long, it might burn out.
  19. Its just the release bearing on the clutch. Mine makes some noise. VW gearboxes are a bit noisy and clunky. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets excessively noisy.
  20. That's the art of buying a car, you have to find the right dealer at the moment when they are desperate to sell to meet target, then you get a deal. Out of those times, very often they aren't bothered, and with Skoda's they usually have to wait 6 months for them to be built, so trade ins have to be valued low with that in mind. But sales figures are down, so some dealers should be keen to shift stock cars. Also there is a re-balancing of PCPs, they have realised they have been too cheap for the last couple of years and there is an oversupply of used cars, so cars are not worth their final payments - so negative equity. So a similar car costs more now, as final payments are a lot lower an 0% has gone for now. You may be better off selling your car yourself or voluntary terminate, then go online an order the best deal you can find from Carwow, Broadspeed etc.
  21. Yeah I was also told to never grease wheel bolts/nuts, can make them loosen off. I also slacken the bolts a turn and then rock the car to break the corrosion, as others have said. Its much safer than hitting wheels/tyres, especially on a jack or even stands. Blade Skoda Gloucester did have our front wheels off at the 2 yr major service to inspect the brakes, so some dealers do it.
  22. www.broadspeed.com is a lot quicker, gives you an instant idea of the discounts available, then you can contact a dealer to see if they will match it.
  23. I expect you wont find the Octavia as refined as the SAAB, the ride is quite firm and there is a fair bit of road noise. Remember the SAAB was an 'executive' car, whatever that really means, whereas the Octavia is only really a 'fleet' special, whatever that means...! Basically the Skoda is less refined, and the quality of the interior materials are not as good. Also consider the Superb Sportline. Have a look on here for good discounts, up to 20% 0ff Octavia & Superb: www.broadspeed.com
